pam Posted August 20, 2011 Report Posted August 20, 2011 ksl.com - LDS Church to debut new Relief Society manualSALT LAKE CITY — Six million Latter-day Saint women throughout the world will soon receive a new book about their church organization, the Relief Society. The society was organized in 1842, but members have never had their own resource book. Their current president, Sister Julie Beck, says her desire is to send a message about the diversity and strength of Latter-day Saint women. Quote
skippy740 Posted August 20, 2011 Report Posted August 20, 2011 Interesting! Didn't know that there wasn't one already available. I'm sure there's a relief society president handbook of some kind, but a general book for the sisters sounds great! Quote
seeking_peace Posted August 20, 2011 Report Posted August 20, 2011 I think that this will be a great missionary tool. I want a copy for two of my coworkers. Quote
dahlia Posted August 21, 2011 Report Posted August 21, 2011 When they do this kind of thing, how do they handle the logistics - send a lot to each chapel and we pick one up there or what? Quote
Dravin Posted August 21, 2011 Report Posted August 21, 2011 (edited) When they do this kind of thing, how do they handle the logistics - send a lot to each chapel and we pick one up there or what? The individual units (branches/wards) order them according to their expected need (plus a little extra) and then they get distributed during the appropriate class/meeting. tubaloth Posted August 21, 2011 Report Posted August 21, 2011 This isn't really a "manual" right? More of a handbook about RS? (history and so forth). Its more something to use for personal study, not something that will be part of any curriculum (at least not officially), I could see RS using it for the first sunday lessons. Quote
pam Posted August 21, 2011 Author Report Posted August 21, 2011 Manual or handbook..semantics. It's a book to be used for personal study, to teach in the church and in our homes. Quote
Just_A_Guy Posted August 22, 2011 Report Posted August 22, 2011 So, does this mean the Church has officially stopped producing new Presidents of the Church manuals? Quote
pam Posted August 22, 2011 Author Report Posted August 22, 2011 Okay so just because we post the links to the story doesn't mean we have all the answers. haha Quote
dahlia Posted August 24, 2011 Report Posted August 24, 2011 ksl.com - LDS Church to debut new Relief Society manualWe always get the news here first (well, here and the LDS Newsroom on FB). This Sunday I asked in RS when we would get our books. No one knew what I was talking about. I had to send one of the leaders a link to the Newsroom article. There was a bit of laughter about the convert knowing this stuff. :) Quote
