annewandering Posted December 2, 2011 Report Posted December 2, 2011 This is probably my favorite version of this song done by anyone. Quote
pam Posted December 3, 2011 Report Posted December 3, 2011 O Holy Night is my absolute favorite Christmas song. But I like Josh Groban's version. Quote
pam Posted December 3, 2011 Report Posted December 3, 2011 I also like Donny Osmond's version of "Mary Did you Know." Quote
Maureen Posted December 3, 2011 Report Posted December 3, 2011 Sarah McLachlan's remake of Song for a Winter's Night is not your typical Christmas song but they play it on the radio here during Christmas time. It is a very beautiful song, written by Gordon Lightfoot. I love it. M. Quote

Maureen Posted December 6, 2011 Report Posted December 6, 2011 For some reason the songs I'm picking all seem to have Sarah McLachlan in them. Here's one with the Barenaked Ladies featuring Sarah McLachlan. M. Quote
Mamas_Girl Posted December 6, 2011 Report Posted December 6, 2011 I'll show my age a little, anything by the Ray Conniff Singers! Especially Silver Bells. I close my eyes and listen, and I'm transported back to my youth. Who says we can't turn back time, even for a few brief minutes. Quote
pam Posted December 6, 2011 Report Posted December 6, 2011 And I will always like this one:Straight No Chaser - 12 Days of Christmas Video by Straight No Chaser - Myspace Video Quote
Truegrits Posted December 6, 2011 Report Posted December 6, 2011 My favorite Christmas carol (singer does not matter) is I Heard The Bells On Christmas Day (pg. 214) The story, the words of that song, affects/touches me as no other holiday song does...I heard the bells on Christmas dayTheir old familiar carols play,And wild and sweet the words repeatOf peace on earth, good will to men.And thought how, as the day had come,The belfries of all ChristendomHad rolled along the unbroken songOf peace on earth, good will to men.Till ringing, singing on its wayThe world revolved from night to day,A voice, a chime, a chant sublimeOf peace on earth, good will to men.And in despair I bowed my head“There is no peace on earth,” I said,“For hate is strong and mocks the songOf peace on earth, good will to men.”Then pealed the bells more loud and deep:“God is not dead, nor doth He sleep; The wrong shall fail, the right prevailWith peace on earth, good will to men.” Quote
Maureen Posted December 10, 2011 Report Posted December 10, 2011 Another one I hear on the radio during Christmas. M. Quote
pam Posted December 10, 2011 Report Posted December 10, 2011 Another one I hear on the radio during Christmas. M. I like this but it's just another example of the overruse of Pachelbel's Cannon D.But I like anything by the TransSiberian Orchestra. They put on a great concert and laser show during it. Quote
Maureen Posted December 10, 2011 Report Posted December 10, 2011 I just checked out Johann Pachelbel - Canon in D Major, and it's lovely. M. Quote
Maureen Posted December 11, 2011 Report Posted December 11, 2011 For all of us, especially Truegrits. :) M. Quote
Maureen Posted December 11, 2011 Report Posted December 11, 2011 Here's one of my favourites. I love Good King Wenceslas because it tells a lovely story, I know all the words and I love to sing it. It took me awhile to find this particular youtube version. This song should be song in the correct tempo and I found so many versions either too slow or too fast. This one is good vocally but the visual they provide is a bit odd, but okay. M. Quote
Maureen Posted December 11, 2011 Report Posted December 11, 2011 Something light hearted for Mamas_Girl.Ray Conniff - "Silver Bells" (1959) - YouTubeM. Quote
