Jezebel2011
Am booked to go to SLC for the Spring Conference and I can't wait. :) I am taking my Endowments in 10 days time. I am guessing that SLC Temple has a distribution centre? I was thinking of buying my Temple dress there. I am also guessing that the SLC Temple has a rental facility for the clothing? Am staying for a full week so that I get to do the historical stuff too. Mormon Tabernacle Choir rehearsal on the Thursday evening Deseret Book on the Saturday evening whilst Priesthood session is ongoing. Anything else I need to know? applepansy
There isn't a distribition center AT the SLC Temple. But the Distrubution Center is in SLC. On 1700 South below Redwood Rd. Its the largest and its rather amazing to see. Some of the churches other production facilities are there too. There is another distribution center downtown at Deseret Book.Salt Lake City Center1999 West 1700 SouthSalt Lake City, UT 841041-801-240-1330 (local calls)1-801-240-3685 (fax)Monday-Saturday: 9:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m.Salt Lake Downtown Deseret Book Center (This is across the street from the temple)45 West South TempleSalt Lake City, UT 841011-801-328-8191 (phone)Monday-Saturday: 10:00 a.m.-9:00 p.mYes the SLC Temple does rent clothing. You will need to purchase your garments prior to your endowment. Other than that you rent everything else for less than $5. (It was $3.75 for everything when I worked at the Ogden Temple.)The places to visit are: Dowtown - The Temple Square. Do the whole tour. The Conference Center. The Joseph Smith Building. The RS Office Building. The Lion House (you can eat lunch at the Lion House Pantry. Yummy food.)This is the Place Heritage Park is a great place to visit. If you go plan to spend several hours there. Its fun!Brigham Young is buried on 1st Ave just east of the Temple. Its hard to find because of the buildings around it (small park like place) but its walking distance from Temple Square. Those are the most historical relating to the Church. You will love the MoTab rehearsal. The Tabernacle is a beautiful building. I remember attending Conference there as a teenager.I'm excited for you! Best Wishes.P.S. Do you plan on visiting any other sites while in Utah? The Kennecott Copper Mine is the largest open pit mine in the world. its amazing to see but will require a car to get there. April will be a bit cold to float in the Great Salt Lake, but you can go out to Antelope Island. There is a herd of buffalo out there. If you have the time you could attend sessions at all the temple in the SLC Valley. Jordon River, Oquirrh Mountain, Draper. The Bountiful temple is only 20 minutes north of downtown SLC. Edited January 10, 2012 by applepansy

pam
We usually try and have a lds.net get together the Friday before General Conference starts. Usually in the spring conference. We'll be posting about that if we decide there is enough interest this year.

The Bountiful temple is only 20 minutes north of downtown SLC.Thank you very much for all this information!Am going to try to do as much as possible in SLC and surrounds.I already have my garments. My chaperone for baptisms, whom will be my escort for my Endowments got them for me at the end of last year. My Endowments will be at the Preston Temple. Will hire my Temple dress for my Endowments here. The Distribution centre doesn't carry the whole stock from the lds store so I fancied buying one in SLC because they will have more choice and I will be able to try them on.As for the trip. Am spending a week at SLC.Then flying to Detroit for work. Then driving to Niagara Falls, going by Kirtland, Palmyra, Hill Cumorah and the Sacred Grove. Have ordered the LDS travel book from Sharon, VT to Kirtland from Deseret book so waiting for that to arrive. I can't wait. 11 weeks tomorrow until I fly to SLC!! Jezebel2011
Well, after those three weeks of hectic activity I will be ready for a rest!! Am really looking forward to it. The main problem at the moment is the airfare. They are going up and down by $300 on a daily basis. Just have to catch it when it is down. I WILL be going regardless of the extra cost. I am going and that's that.
