I wish the Church would create a Medical School and Dental School. BYU puts out more premed students than any other University.

What good is more lawyers?

Your* tithing money at work.

BYU will never sponsor either a medical school or a dental school. Far too expensive, and far too likely to get the Church involved in some ugly situation with refusing to provide abortion access or something of the sort.

Not that I would mind. I think it would be great. I also think it would be great if the Church would build five more BYUs so that all the LDS kids who want to go would have a chance. But the Church authorities do not want to get deeper into the business of secular education, and I don't blame them. That is not the Church's calling.

*Just kidding. It isn't "your" tithing money.

A new mall, and now this? What the church should really do is start some kind of humanitarian or job training program or something.

I just hope they don't ruin the campus again. It's such a hodge podge of different styles. And they destroyed the buildings on President's circle. Now a big USC guy, I can truly appreciate a well maintained campus (even if it's surrounded by slums).

I would guess--though I do not know for sure--that this came from LDS Philanthropies. LDS Philanthropies is funded by specific donations from members, and with donations from the Church's for-profit entities (who pay a tenth of their income to the foundation). As far as I know, tithing doesn't go to LDS Philanthropies.

My brother just finished his freshman year at USC.
