Vort Posted August 2, 2012 Report Posted August 2, 2012 My current 'popcorn' TV- Dark Matters : Science ChannelI saw that a few days ago, and I admit I got sucked into it just a bit. Pretty well-done show. In general, such "pop science" shows give me a headache from rolling my eyes so much. Amazing CGI just cannot make up for vacuous content (or embarrassingly poor writing). Backroads Posted August 2, 2012 Report Posted August 2, 2012 We don't really have tv... but we use the internet for a lot of stuff. I also share the love of Supernatural. 'Cept I'm 2 seasons behind. I need to catch up. I consider "The Big Bang Theory" my guilty pleasure. I'm absolutely obsessed with "Once Upon a Time". As for the Bachelor/Bachelorette, I've never really watched them because I find the whole concept idiotic and I just don't like reality tv. However, I suppose since the last season is finished and my brother blabbed it all over Facebook, Jef was my brother's mission companion and really is no longer active. Quote

Guest Posted August 2, 2012 Report Posted August 2, 2012 I like MasterChef a lot, but I don't consider that Trash TV. Heck's Kitchen, on the other hand. . . Quote

Backroads Posted August 2, 2012 Report Posted August 2, 2012 I always thought it was "mindless fluff". Still making Big Bang Theory my trash. I actually consider Supernatural and Once Upon a Time well-written and fairly intelligent. Quote

Vort Posted August 2, 2012 Report Posted August 2, 2012 Me:Avatar - last airbender and legend of korraI watched the first two or three Korras, and I hate to say it, but -- boring. Maybe it has gotten better, but my son suggested that it really hasn't. Maybe next season will improve... Quote
Backroads Posted August 2, 2012 Report Posted August 2, 2012 I enjoy OUAT, too but Supernatural -- love it.My cat was almost named Castiel, but then I decided it was too much for a scrawny kitten with a bullet wound my friend's husband had found in a ditch. So I went with Sam. Quote

One thing I like to do is pull up Wikipedia when something catches my interest during the show. Edited August 2, 2012 by Dravin Quote

Maybe it has gotten better, but my son suggested that it really hasn't. Maybe next season will improve...It was awesome! It's... CHICK FLICK! Yeah, my kids groaned on several episodes...I have to say, the end of the season wasn't as deep as it could have been. I was hoping they could have made Korra's inner struggle - the lowest point of her life so far - be of a longer struggle than the seemingly quick turn-around the episode showed. I mean, they could have worked it into 3 episodes. Quote

My mother's dogs - Chandler, Joey, Ross, Rachel, Monica, and Phoebe. Yeah, all the dogs are at least 10 years old... So, now you know what my mother's Trash TV show is. Quote
EarlJibbs Posted August 3, 2012 Report Posted August 3, 2012 Hmmmm. This is a tough one. I dont think I have a trash show. Unless sports are trash shows? I beleive in not being a "TV whore" meaning that I give myself to one show at a time so that I do not waste a lot of time sitting around on the couch. I have been in a serious drought since I wasted so many years on LOST... great show... CRAPPY CRAPPY ending. Grrrrrr. I love the Walking Dead, although I find it easier to wait until I can watch the season at my leasure so I am a season behind. Quote
Backroads Posted August 3, 2012 Report Posted August 3, 2012 I think I may be one of the threatened few who thought LOST had a great ending... Then again, I also thought "Series of Unfortunate Events" had a great ending... I am so behind on The Walking Dead. Wonderful show. That and Once Upon a Time filled my Lost niche. Quote

Haha! But Sam is a good choice :] Although, I'm more of a Dean girl myself Secondary, would be Cas -- I love his sense of (or lack of) humour. If your cat is always getting into trouble, you could name it "Idjit".. .. .. LOL Quote

Wonderful show. That and Once Upon a Time filled my Lost niche.I got lost in Lost. Seriously. I have no idea what that whole thing was about. My husband and I watched all ... how many series? 8? in a span of 1 week. I have to say, I am fairly certain I lost 1/4 of my brain cells watching that show. Quote
carlimac Posted August 4, 2012 Report Posted August 4, 2012 (edited) Practically the only thing on TV this week at our house is the Olympics. We occasionally watch reruns of Raymond. Besides the olympics the only sport I like to watch is soccer -especially girls soccer (it's slower and easier to follow.) DH likes pretty much any sport. Sports are his man-cave. We watch zero reality TV. No one in our family can stand it- even the teenagers. My guilty pleasure these days is Downton Abbey. And I might start catching the Pioneer Woman on the Food channel cause she lives my dream life. Edited August 4, 2012 by carlimac Quote
Guest Posted August 4, 2012 Report Posted August 4, 2012 Ooooh! I actually enjoyed Olympics today - when they showed the Magnificent 7 from 1996 women gymnastics. It's the one and only Olympics that I actually got to witness first hand and I was there at the stands when Keri made her vault. It was super duper awesome memories. Quote

My husband has been aware since engagement that if Dean Winchester were real and approached me romantically, my husband would be once again a single man. But the scrawny kitten couldn't handle that name, either. Considering that even now he's afraid of everything... he's just not cool enough to be Dean. Thus, Sam. Quote

Lmbo. You're in Utah or Idaho, right? The next SPNCON will be held in Las Vegas, if you have friends that are also followers, you should hit that one. If I had known about it, I would have passed on this upcoming Con in Chicago and waited for the Las Vegas one, since it's so much closer to SLC. Quote
SisterSarah Posted August 4, 2012 Report Posted August 4, 2012 Personally I am not into reality shows and it's is not a religious thing, just personal preference. We also prefer live theater to movies. That being said though in the evening if there is time for TV we like Criminal Minds, Cold Case, Leverage, NCIS and CSI. Then again I prefer a good Dean Koontz book when I have the time to actually commit to a fiction novel. Quote
