Interesting idea - but there is a bigger problem when the UNIX long integer clock (date time) rolls over. But most people have no idea when that will happen.

Moral of the story: if you're going to predict the end of the world, make sure 1) your culture survives to that date so that 2) you can really make it happen.

Here's hoping 2038 is more exciting. But I don't think it will be. Future programmers will probably sellout the same way retired COBOL coders did last century.
