LDS Church News - Stake center in Abu Dhabi: Elder Holland dedicates chapel in Middle East

ABU DHABI, UNITED ARAB EMIRATES

The Middle East Africa North Area encompasses 20 countries, with Morocco on the west and Afghanistan on the east. In this vast geographical region stands just one building constructed by the Church solely as a meetinghouse for its members. That building is the newly completed Abu Dhabi Stake Center in the United Arab Emirates, which Elder Jeffrey R. Holland of the Quorum of the Twelve dedicated on Feb. 22.

The thing I found most interesting is that the Crown Prince donated the land so that those who are not of the Muslim faith can worship as they choose.

This is wonderful news indeed, but don't get the idea that the Crown Prince is this dandy guy who goes around defending religious liberties wherever he can. Perhaps he personally did oversee or at least approve of this donation, but this was a political move. (Sorry if I'm being a buzzkill.)
