Backroads Posted August 11, 2013 Report Posted August 11, 2013 Yes, I'm being one of those moms that just has to have a big ol' pretty dress for a blessing. So sue me. Anywho, we finally are looking to getting the baby blessed, but she will be six months. All of Utah seems to cater to newborn blessings. Good place (shop or online) to find a nice dress in a bigger size? Quote

Just_A_Guy Posted August 11, 2013 Report Posted August 11, 2013 Yeah, don't forget that non-Mormons still do a similar ritual--they just don't use the same terminology. Search Amazon.com, eBay, etc. on "christening" instead of "blessing" and you'll find all kinds of appropriate attire. Quote
Smudge Posted August 12, 2013 Report Posted August 12, 2013 You could also find a nice pattern and a gown made Quote

viannqueen3 Posted August 14, 2013 Report Posted August 14, 2013 Little Things Mean a Lot in American Fork have a pretty big selection. We found my 11 month old daughter at the time a dress there that fit. Some of the sizes are deceiving though. She was in the 90th percentile for weight and she still fit into a 0-3month dress. Some dresses can be pricy there if you aren't getting them from the clearance rack (though I've noticed larger sizes are usually on clearance). Quote
Dravin Posted August 14, 2013 Report Posted August 14, 2013 Minus the helmet used when smashing a bottle of champagne on the child, of course. True, as Mormons we should probably use a bottle of water. Quote
NightSG Posted August 17, 2013 Report Posted August 17, 2013 Some of the sizes are deceiving though. She was in the 90th percentile for weight and she still fit into a 0-3month dress. My youngest was 9 pounds 6 ounces. The doc swore if he'd known she was that big, he'd have done a C-section. Nothing fit her right, and it didn't look like we were going to get to use hand me downs from her 45th-percentile-weight 88th-percentile-height older sister until she was about a year old.Even finding creepers to fit her was a bit challenging at times. The trick with dresses was finding short dresses for older babies, which would then be past her knees and a pretty good fit in the torso. Quote
