Yes, I'm being one of those moms that just has to have a big ol' pretty dress for a blessing. So sue me.

Anywho, we finally are looking to getting the baby blessed, but she will be six months. All of Utah seems to cater to newborn blessings.

Good place (shop or online) to find a nice dress in a bigger size?

There's one from the distribution center that comes in varying sizes. Here it is: Sweet Pea Infant’s Dress - store.lds.org The small is 3-6 month size and the medium is 6-12 month size.

Here's another one. Most are for smaller, but a few of them have a 6 month size. Children::Infant Girl - White Elegance - Makers of LDS Temple Clothes, Temple Dresses, Pioneer Costumes and more

Here a site where a couple are available in 6 month size and some you can special order in that size. Christening Gowns | Infant Girls Blessing Dresses | Baby Christening Gown

These are all available in 6 month size. Results for *MY FIRST WHITE DRESS Blessing/Christening NB-16:Girl/Blessing/Christening

Yeah, don't forget that non-Mormons still do a similar ritual--they just don't use the same terminology. Search Amazon.com, eBay, etc. on "christening" instead of "blessing" and you'll find all kinds of appropriate attire.

Minus the helmet used when smashing a bottle of champagne on the child, of course. :D

Little Things Mean a Lot in American Fork have a pretty big selection. We found my 11 month old daughter at the time a dress there that fit. Some of the sizes are deceiving though. She was in the 90th percentile for weight and she still fit into a 0-3month dress. Some dresses can be pricy there if you aren't getting them from the clearance rack (though I've noticed larger sizes are usually on clearance).

My youngest was 9 pounds 6 ounces. The doc swore if he'd known she was that big, he'd have done a C-section. Nothing fit her right, and it didn't look like we were going to get to use hand me downs from her 45th-percentile-weight 88th-percentile-height older sister until she was about a year old.

Even finding creepers to fit her was a bit challenging at times. The trick with dresses was finding short dresses for older babies, which would then be past her knees and a pretty good fit in the torso.
