I went to the Temple on Tuesday for an Endowment session, and had a rather interesting experience. I have a very time staying focused on only one thing at a time, so sometimes keeping my full attention on what's happening in an Endowment session is a challenge. I try to catch myself when I feel my mind wandering, but inevitably there are a few times during where it gets away from me.

Tuesday was different though. I had painted my nails on Sunday, with a nail polish in a shade called "Eternal Optimist". For some reason, whenever my attention would waver and I would look down at my hands, I would remember the name of the polish and think of the Eternal optimism, or Hope, that the Endowment gives me. It kicked my attention right back to where it should be. My mind didn't wander nearly as much as it usually does, and I had a wonderful Temple experience. :)

All because of my nail polish.

Ever had a spiritual experience come from an unusual or unexpected source?

Jenamarie you are such a girl! :P

I get spiritually uplifted at real random moments. I was standing in a checkout line and it was so slow. It felt like we'd all been standing there forever. At some point, the manager opted to open another register, and suddenly all the shoppers start hustling to shift lanes. There was a young kid behind me, he was probably high school age, and he was first to dart over to the newly opened lane. I was about to blow a fuse but decided to just let it go and wait until my lane started progressing. I was the second person in line to the first shopper that was having issues checking out. Turns out I need to just relax sometimes because the kid stepped up and said: "She's next". It wasn't one of my most spiritual experiences but it felt good to be on the receiving end of an act of kindness.

I find and annoy everyone around me with random spiritual metaphors related to everyday things all the time.

One that I recently had was while I was driving. I am normally a very patient person, especially while driving. I drive the speed limit and follow all driving laws. So.. one day I am driving by myself over a 40 miles straight away with only a few places you can pass.

I came up behind this car that was driving about 55 mph...the speed is 65 mph in this area. BUT, every time I would try to pass this person they would speed up and just as we would get to the solid yellow line that I couldn't pass they would slow down. Grrrrrr...

My mind started to go in over drive with irritation because we are about into 20 miles of this now. I thought when I get the chance to pass they are going to get a piece of my mind. I was just about to revert back to my childhood when flipping the middle finger was the in thing to do when all of a sudden the spirit came upon me and I heard so clearly these words. "What would you do if you flipped off that person and it ended up being Jesus?"

I got the chance to pass this person and almost couldn't look over at he car because I was afraid it would be Jesus looking back at me with my finger in the air. But, I did look and it was an elderly man... not Jesus. But, it could have been Him... I am so thankful I never did flip this person off.

Now when I am driving and want to pass someone and they do that to me I think of the spirit saying that to me. I also think about it anytime someone does something that I don't like. It was a good lesson for me and a very spiritual one too.

p.s. I had lots of spiritual things happen in the Temple, but I feel those are sacred to me.

I had a driving one as well.

My husband went to hospital and they found a tumour encompassing his bowel and appendix, we were told it was cancer and to expect the worst. At the time, the children were at my sisters place, 1.5 hr drive away, for the school holidays.

I was running on fear and adrenaline, I got in the car to go pick them up. My head was spinning and thoughts running at a million miles an hour. Then I received words, very strongly and loudly to "slow down". I looked at the speedo and I was actually speeding, something I don't consciously do. I slowed down and around the next corner was a police car with a speed camera.

Now I don't believe the Holy Ghost is there to get me out of a speeding fine! Those words "slow down" were not about the car speed, I felt it as a calming message to slow my thoughts as well and it prepared me to be support for the children.

6 weeks later we were sitting in the oncologists office ready for the treatment plan and prognosis to be told that they were wrong, the tumour was removed, but there was no sign of cancer.

We now joke about how the HG helped me avoid a speeding fine :)

That's great! Maybe if more people envisaged Jesus behind the wheel, we would have less problems on the road :)

My friend was in terror after being road raged once, she stopped at a set of lights and the other car pulled up next to her, continuing to shout abuse. The other lady stopped when she realised it was our mutual friend in the car. She was very apologetic, and said she wouldn't have done it if she knew it was her, but I wonder if it stopped her bad behaviour to other people?

I think that's what it was all about for me. It could have been the Bishop, a loved one, or anyone that you would never do something like that too...so why do it to anyone at all. We are supposed to love one another.

I suspect if people caught Jesus driving like that, there would be a lot more Jews in the world.
