FrankJL Posted July 6, 2007 Report Posted July 6, 2007 Just something that popped into my head this morning. I know a lot of young people (like my self) never us cash or checks for anything. I don't like dealing with change, and writing checks is just a hassle. So use my debit card for everything, it also makes it easier because you can see where you spent you money at. Now on to my point.. Would not be unreasonable for the church to establish a system where tithing and other offerings could be paid online? Maybe something like online bill-pay? When I pay tithing (since I don't have checks) I pay cash, and I really don't feel comfortable carrying around $250-300 in an envelope. Thoughts? Suggestions? Feedback? Quote
Gabelma Posted July 6, 2007 Report Posted July 6, 2007 can you not pay by Deed of Covenant in the States? In the UK we can pay by direct debit ie it comes directly out of our account once a month or once a year Charley Quote
StrawberryFields Posted July 6, 2007 Report Posted July 6, 2007 This sounds very interesting. What about paying online with online banking? You enter the amount and the bank mails a check? Quote
FrankJL Posted July 6, 2007 Author Report Posted July 6, 2007 Stupid idea.Well that was rather boorish of you.. Quote
Dr T Posted July 6, 2007 Report Posted July 6, 2007 Let me set up an account and you can start when it's finished. :) Quote
FrankJL Posted July 6, 2007 Author Report Posted July 6, 2007 Will this account be located somewhere in the Cayman Islands? Quote
Dr T Posted July 6, 2007 Report Posted July 6, 2007 LOL. That's a thought. Any other suggestions? (only joking) Quote
FrankJL Posted July 6, 2007 Author Report Posted July 6, 2007 you don't need my $300 a month, I'm sure your making the big bucks as Dr. Besides what would $300 do for you? Buy gas for a week? I thought I remember you saying once you have a Yukon XL, those get what like 8 mpg? Quote
Dr T Posted July 6, 2007 Report Posted July 6, 2007 Good memory Frank. Ours get 16 on the highway I think. Your memory is impressive sir. :) Quote

prisonchaplain Posted July 6, 2007 Report Posted July 6, 2007 I just sent in some tithe money. The site even offered to draw it out of my checking account monthly. I heard that some companies in Utah take out the tithe automatically.Good memory Frank. Ours get 16 on the highway I think. Your memory is impressive sir. :)My Durango only gets 12mpg, and takes premium--so send the $300 to me. I'll even tithe on your tithe. Quote
Dr T Posted July 6, 2007 Report Posted July 6, 2007 that was funny PC. I'm in CA. Does that help my cause? Quote

FrankJL Posted July 7, 2007 Author Report Posted July 7, 2007 3rd-row seatingI thought thats what the trunk is for? Inside the trunk there is even a glow in the dark escape latch. It has a picture carved out in the handle of an open trunk, arrows out of the trunk, and little kid running. Its one of the most bizarre things I've ever seen on a car. When my friends get me my digital camera back, I'll take a pic and post it...you have to see this thing... Quote

I was surprised that the US doesn't do more direct banking an awful lot of people pay directly by cheque I would miss the conveinience of that if we moved over - that and an electric kettle, duvets, gravy and custard lolCharley Quote

If you have online bill pay then chances are you can already do this. Banks will send a check to whomever you tell them to and for whatever amount. There's still the matter of the donation slip, though. The bishop would have to know how much is going to tithing, fast offerings, etc.I don't see any reason why the church would allow tithing to be paid by credit card, though. Most people pay their tithing when they go to church, so all this would do is give more people a reason to skip church.Rarely is there ever a time when something worth doing is convenient. It doesn't cost anything to have a checking account, so write a check and be done with it. It's not that hard. Quote
