Elphaba
On another thread I mentioned a song from the '80s and Fiannin mentioned another one he had liked, and a light bulb went off in my head. I loved the ‘80s. So, for those of us who are old enough, I thought it would be fun to list those songs we loved from the ‘80s. I went on You Tube to toggle my memory, and suddenly I was flooded with memories. Some magical, some very definitely not. So, here a few of my favorites from the ‘80s. For those of you old enough to have favorites from the ‘80s, search your soul, and list them here for us to see. Time after Time, Cyndi Lauper Girls Just Wanna Have Fun, Cyndi Lauper Walk Like an Egyptian, The Bangles Addicted to Love, Robert Palmer Entire Musical Score from “The Commitments” Fancy, Reba McIntyre What Am I Gonna Do About You, Reba McIntyre Stop Me UP, Rolling Stones Okay, I have more, but I’ll stop for right now. Anyone else want to play? Elphie

Fiannan
Strange, I like music from the mid to late 70s but really don't know about the '80s. Except for groups like Heart or Fleetwood Mac, some of the David Lee Roth stuff, Frankie Goes to Hollywood, Depeche Mode and Pet Shop Boys I have to say that music didn't start getting fun again until the 1990s. The little that WAS good was typically from bands who were still continuing from the 70's. Even disco was better than much of the typical 80's stuff. Stop Me UP, Rolling StonesI'm not familiar with that one, how does it go? Is it an homage to plumbers or something? Maybe you meant 'START me up'? shanstress70
I used to be an 80's music junky, but lately I've been digging the 70's stuff that was popular when I was a young child (yes, I'm dating myself... I'm 36.) Some of the songs I've rediscovered: Anything Doobie Bros. but esp. 'Long Train Running' 'Baker Street' 'Blinded by the Light' 'Summer Breeze' 'Dream Weaver' Anything Steely Dan Anything Paul McCartney and Wings from the 70's All of this is very nostalgic for me, reminding me especially of childhood beach trips. sixpacktr
Can't stand most of the 60's stuff, loved the 70s rock, some 80s stuff (Huey Lewis and the News, Jackson Browne, Toto, etc). Haven't liked anyone since, especially once it went to thug music in the 90s (just when will rap/hip hop die?!!), although I have moved more to country music... pushka
Gosh! Isn't it amazing how your mind can go blank when you try to compile lists such as these? Most of the bands I liked during the 80's have already been mentioned, and I'm too lazy to search for any others. At the time I was building up my interest in Bob Dylan music, so didn't particularly keep up with the current Top 40 in the UK...I just am reminded every now and again that I did absorb some of the music played during that decade, and do appreciate more than I thought I did.
