Guest Posted May 21, 2018 Report Posted May 21, 2018 (edited) A counselor in the bishopric just came by to extend the calling to my son to be the new Teachers' Quorum President. During Sacrament, they stated that they had no ward business. I was curious why they didn't announce his calling for sustaining. Then it occurred to me that my son needed to consider counselors. But as I watched him for the rest of the day, he didn't seem to be considering much at all. So, I called him over privately and asked him if he was given any instructions when the call was extended. "Yes, I was told to pick counselors and a secretary." "Have you done some praying and considering?" "Some." We then had a conversation about receiving inspiration. I believe it was a profitable conversation. And he proceeded to try following my instructions. As I thought about what had just happened, I realized for the fist time what "preparatory priesthood" actually meant. My son was preparing. He was being trained to lead -- in the Lord's way. He'll have failures, I'm sure. He'll get some stuff wrong. And he'll have some problems with some things he chooses. But all that is teaching to lead, to receive inspiration, and to follow the Lord. I'm really proud of him. Edited May 21, 2018 by Guest Quote
Grunt Posted May 21, 2018 Report Posted May 21, 2018 That's awesome. I'd be really proud, too. I love seeing little sparks in my kids, too. They're already talking about their baptism. zil, Sunday21 and Jane_Doe 3 Quote

Not once did I ever understand what my calling was, what I was suppose to do, nor do I remember ever being taught about inspiration. Jane_Doe, Sunday21 and Grunt 3 Quote
