"will you be Gods" well me personally I would rather be a servant and if God has that atribute then it something I will try to emulate,: your question reminds me of a favourite song/lyrics of mine "there are more questions than answers the more I find out the less I know":)

Changing sacrament word to match item being blessed.
Avrham replied to martybess's topic in LDS Gospel Discussion
some of my Samoan brothers use taro in their Sacrement meeting back in the Islands reason being bread is not apart of their diet and they use the word "moi moi' which is closet translation for taro/bread>we where talking about this in EQ just the other week maybe referring to the PH lesson so funny everyone had the new Hand book and rush too it lol I believe we should use the apropriate term ie if its a biscuit its a biscuit:):):)but thats just my opinion -
well first I always bow on my wonky knees> no just kidding only sometimes good thread well how to pray?always open with God and end in Jesus Christ name thats how I was taught from a young age as to the scenario's I have prayed range from being lost emotional/physically to finding out things about myself and others also lifes questions that might stump me(still today) I always find myself being thankfully always in my prayers for everything and everyone in my life the best part about my prayers are always the answers man they just blow me away and reinforces what is already in front of my eyes that leads me to a new light on things:):):)

I suppose thats a general concensus at least where I live mostly muslim in my street anyway and when missionaries discuss about God as our father in heaven to them its as if we just swore at them>the general belief with my neighbours are that GOD cannot be defined as a father figure or any figure he is "The Supreme Being" omnipotent and to them that makes quite alot more sense then him being simply father and son connection being in the plan of salvation:):)

my kids don't like "fake people" however I try to install respect for each individual they encounter and be very mindful of others actions or non-actions and I enjoy explaining different types of behaviors especially when we hang-out at the local play ground with my 2youngest boys

Hi Kurtis My daughter(10yrs)had a interesting take on Christanity and mormonism she believes"that their are only christians and everyone else" she hates the term mormon (she was baptised lds) she believes in her own words "She is following Christ Only and no one else" which kinda sounds pretty mainstream to some, she was asked about following the leaders and President/Prophet she just smiled and said " As long as they are following Jesus as well they will be fine" kinda made me and my wife laugh at the time but I get what she meant:):):):):):)

Long Hair on Men
Avrham replied to curtishouse's topic in Learn about The Church of Jesus Christ Of Latter-day Saints
you should be right mate as long as you feel comfortable in yourself>long hair shouldn't be a problem(at church anyway) wear it how you want to , I used to wear mine as a top knot more out of respect for my culture:):) -
hello All the anti-mormon questions I read and get asked I find very interesting points of view I even had a sandra tanner book somewhere?? I have never thought of anti-mormon questions being anti just negative/ignorant however me being or having a devout(my opinion)belief in Jesus Christ breaks down the ignorant/negative views on any subject let alone religion/faith I don't mind having critics and listening too them(if I got the time) because not to would make me ignorant just my take:):):):):)

I find living the gospel has open my eye's as to it being hard or easy well I assume it would be realitive to each person's experiance/perception of their life

hello I did not think that I was denying them anything I still bless them at home in prayers I have just never decided to bless them at church in front of the congregation or gone to see the bishop however it never occurred to me(thanks to Primary) that their names would not be on the family records I presumed they didn't get added on until baptised I suppose my motivation has been geared towards their receiving baptism after all I am just looking at it from my and more importantly their perspective overall not denying that blessings/naming are important thanks to DaC20<70 maybe I am the odd one out

Hello just wondering had a interesting informal/chat with Primary President about "why my 2youngest kids are not members" meaning they are not on the church records(being blessed) and being told that it could "affect their future salvation" which made my head spin off I did not realise that a Childrens Blessing meant that you become a member on Gods record I always thought/my belief has been that you become a member when you get baptised, she seemed pretty adament about it(she even offered me to bless the kids at her own kids blessings lol but I declined) It just left me wondering do childrens blessing's give the kids a safety net(gospel wise)my 2 olderkids have been blessed and I feel that the younger 2 have not missed out on anything in terms of gospel learning spiritual growth:):):):):):) this could be in the wrong section sorry

If the Bishop and one counselor are not on the stand
Avrham replied to martybess's topic in LDS Gospel Discussion
I believe that EQ president has the authority keys after the Bishop,I was once informed that due to unforseen circumstances that their was no leadership bishopric or anyone else including EQ Pres being the counselor for EQ I'd asked the other counselor if he would join me he just said he was not "qaulified"also went and asked the HP Leader he just laughed and said "not my Job"well 5minutes to go praying that someone (bishopric) would turn up went for a walk outside to get my annoyance out of me I read the program said a quick prayer something about opening my eyes then I realised(light bulb moment)Priesthood+temples+missionaries I ran back inside to the other counselor and nervously asked if he had a current temple recommend "yeah of course" I just mumbled something like lets use it so he ran into the toilet joined me up in the stand also managed to asked the missionaries to join as well I'd thought I was in trouble afterwoods when the Bishop and Stake Pres wanted to chat with me they just said "A Big thank you" and all I could say was "I just added 10yrs to myself" that was 4yrs ago still remember like it was yesterday glad I am not in the Bishopric -
How Do You React When Someone Asks You Your Religion?
Avrham replied to a topic in LDS Gospel Discussion
I like to tell people I am a Christian who belongs to LDS Church and everyone's like whaa AKA Mormon the only time my religion played a part in anything was when I was in the Army Psyche asked me alot of questions about Killing people and moral issues towards my religiouse beliefs they asked alot of bizzare stuff like Joseph Smith and so on:):):) -
yep give your testimony of the Savior I have had similar experiances with family members/non-members I believe when you share your love for the Savior no matter the situation or contention the spirit always stood by me(in love) for my fellow being which I am still trying to practice cheers

If anyone is interested radical/unschooling is a term in which John Holt(educator)mid 70s came up with "Ask any radical unschooler and you'll get a different answer, but here's mine... Radical Unschooling is living without school- as though there is no such thing. It's trusting your children will learn everything they need to know for their lives, in their own time, and in their own way. And, it works of course- because children are vitally interested in their world...they are "wired to learn". I like to tell people it's sort of like how they learn as babies and toddlers- there's no reason for that inate curiosity and joy to leave because they turn 5, or 6 or 8...or any age. If noone squashes a child's natural love of learning (of *being*), they won't lose it. So, the way you and I like to learn about things that interest us- our children are given that same freedom...and when I say "given", that's not accurate- it was always theirs- I just didn't take it away. The difference, as I understand it, between radical unschooling and unschooling- is that unschooling is trusting a child will learn everything he academically needs to know without school. Radical unschooling differs in that we trust our children will learn *everything* they need...that is, for example- we don't tell them it is time to go to bed- they go when their bodies feel tired. They are, as much as anyone is, in charge of their own bodies, their own lives." "Birds fly, fish swim, man thinks and learns. Therefore, we do not need to motivate children into learning by wheedling, bribing or bullying. We do not need to keep picking away at their minds to make sure they are learning. What we need to do, and all we need to do, is bring as much of the world as we can into the school and classroom (in our case, into their lives); give children as much help and guidance as they ask for; listen respectfully when they feel like talking; and then get out of the way. We can trust them to do the rest." John Holt, "How Children Learn

The Holy Ghost was available to all, even before Christ.
Avrham replied to ruthiechan's topic in LDS Gospel Discussion
yes agree with you ruthiechan I didn't take what he said as gospel but it made for interesting chat though I thought he(SP) might be referring to the light of Christ yep Just_A_Guy seems to raise those points about difference in having the HG as opposed to having the gift of HG as a constant companiont:):) -
(Everyone) Are we required to live the law of consecration today?
Avrham replied to Vort's topic in LDS Gospel Discussion
I belief in doing what God say's and doing my best to be faithful to him and if President Monson wants my house God would reveal something to me first God has always done that in my life my relationships with Heavenly Father and my wife are paramount to my living the gospel , right at this moment my relationships are doing really well and has made things a bit easier to understand so if I got the call today yep he could have it I just have to inform my landlord first lol -
The Holy Ghost was available to all, even before Christ.
Avrham replied to ruthiechan's topic in LDS Gospel Discussion
I was told their was 2spiritual beings the other day the Holy Ghost and the Spirit by Stake President I asked what was the difference he said that Holy Ghost is for everyone and that the Spirit is given to all members at confirmation as a "constant companion":):) I find that very interesting I wonder if he was refering to Light Of Christ in regards to Holy Ghost -
hello yes as parents its your right to do want you believe is right no harm asking the question why though(please don't take this personally) I suppose its a matter of respecting children as you would anyone else and not to be condescending towards their choices Bishop asked me the other day at church when my son is getting baptised he(son) was right next to me, he said"I am getting baptised not mee dad" I tried not to laugh but Bishop turned and smiled to my son and said"I'll ask you next time" my son said " My name is Nassa" and ran of to join the other kids totally agree with you there:):)

yes it seems like a hard concept to understand but do you believe that children need to be controlled or do you/parents trust their kids especially about bedtime or eating do you tell the kids you must eat all this or do you let kids decide how much they need to eat Do you disagree with the idea that kids can know their own natural limits just really interested in your opinon

Yes I do believe in unschooling could you explain what you find appalling about the 2nd link would like to hear you thoughts
