  1. I wish it would be on the FAQ's about Mormons, or something. People are are mystified and history is not on our side. My mother in law took a year to ask me about the Church. But she had asked half the family about "Mormons" before that. But she knew us and thus also new that it was not true what they told her. She went to Sacrament with us once and within 1 month I baptized her. This is really awesome and relevant info that should be readily available.
  2. These are old photos anyhow. The investigation already took place and the culprits punished. he pics will not add anything new and they serve no purpose other than inflaming anti-American sentiment. It is a fair call.
  3. Friend, you bring somebody's private, be it well intended, but non-scientific website as a reference. Approximate chronology about the Egyptian kingdom is not actual evidence for the exodus. There is NO Egyptian record or otherwise that describes the exodus extant from the bible. You should take a class on history of the Old Testament, or engage in some serious research if you are really interested. We have received thru revelation that the bible is true. We hold fast to that testimony of the Spirit of God as we do of the Savior. We have received these things by revelation and not thru archaeology and we know them to be true. But since we are talking about physical tangible archaeological evidence; there is none.
  4. I saw the show. Although interesting, very informative and highly entertaining, it offer possible but hypothetical explanations for the physical phenomena described in the biblical accounts (plagues, blood in the river, partig of the Red Sea, etc) but no archaeological evidence of any kind. To this date there is NO physical/archaeoogical evidence of the exodus whatsoever.
  5. GOD comes first. The Church leaders asks us to never put the things of the world before the family. But the center, purpose and reason why we know and understand that precept is because God has given it onto us. Our lives, mariages and families are stronger because God is at the center of who we are and what we do. Again, this is an issue that part member families and less actives have and it is a byproduct, precisely, of those choices and circunstances. On account of sounding insensitive, we are free to chose and exercise our choices but not the consequences of them. I made the point above already on a different post. You can marry anybody you want, be as eccentric as you want wherever you want. But if you want Priesthood authority officiating the wedding ceremony and the Church chapel there are some guidelines. Do not forget, this is the Lords's Church and He alone sets His order. We just carry out His instructions.
  6. Check your sources. There is cero, none, nada evidence of the exodus.
  7. No nearly enough children from unwed mothers are adopted. It is still a struggle for the family to realize it is the best for the children
  8. I did not attack you. I pointed to the fact that criticizing the US and its values is a recurrent theme in your posts, and that is fact. I pointed out that you have nothing but highly spurious and conspiracy flavored theories about actual events, all of it colored by your ideological bend, and you offer those as facts. That for all the time you spend on this forum most of your contribution relates to political arguments about issues that deal with historical facts and political realities that you seem to ignore for your thinking is clearly on the fringe rather than based on credible and reputable research. And then I made a suggestion that your social theories for a better humanity (your world view) should be tested in the third world when you may be able to make a true and tangible contribution and perhaps be appreciated. English is just one of the many languages I speak. Trust me, verbal insult or attack is not my style. That you find the truth insulting, now that is revealing.
  9. Our Stake Presidency got reorganized just a few weeks ago and Elder Oaks came. It was a very uplifting experience to hear him speak up close and personal.
  10. You are either incredibly naive or I would question your sanity if I did not know better. I am trying to be polite but I would suggest you would go and live in the third world where you can really be useful and share your knowledge, insight and expertise with people that really need it and can possibly appreciate it. Otherwise it is just empty intellectual rhetoric with a grossly obtuse ideological twist that is really non-productive and borders on the offensive. It is obvious that you know very little about geopolitics and world history and have done even less to change the "systems of government" that you so much despise. The real world is not Wikipedia, in case you didn't know. It all sounds like pent up frustration and animosity with no place to go. I have gone over all of your posts and it seem like you have found an outlet for your general unhappiness with life in this forum which s very sad given what the purpose of it is to share the Gospel. Aren't you glad for freedom of expression, plurality of opinion, the wealth of of the western society in which you live that gives you access to a vast universe of information from the shade of your electrified home? I many places your rantings in the forum would have been over long ago. Give thanks to Pam for her saintly patience with you. I repeat the words of the wise: our system of government is the worst in the world; of course, except for all the other ones.
  11. You do like to argue, do you? Read my post. I said that it is NOT justification. That the story is likely fictitious but credible because the situation offered a challenge to what the soldier thought was his core belief/ideal and that since the professor was expecting "punishment" to be dispensed (he was actually asking to be stroke down by God) it made no difference where the punishment came from. The story goes that the soldier punched him. Now you want to take the already fictitious to a morbid extreme of somebody killing somebody....well be my guest.
  12. I was once in Syria going west towards Lebanon and got caught on a blizzard in the middle of spring!! I know it is totally counter intuitive but hey, it is God's green earth after all and the weather is of His making. The BoM speaks of things that most people do not understand, know about or have a clue of what it means but I have first hand experience in the region. Precisely because of those descriptions that were anachronistic in 1830, I know that it was an eyewitness account. Nephi was indeed there for nobody knew or understood these things at the time. And yes, you Canadians have a quasi-monopoly on snow but a few others get some now and again....hehehehe...
  13. Intolerance is the "civil" weapon of satan. Lying and deceiving is a craft studied and perfected by many. The key to successful lying and deception is to first, weave it into known, verifiable truth; second legitimize the carrier by elevating his/her statute and social/political/economic standing and last discredit any and all potential credible opponents. If you read the scriptures ALL the prophets ran a mock with the rulers, the lawyers and the learned. They were ALWAYS on the wrong side of God and it is so today, for the most part. My grandmother loved the writings of Isaiah. She thought this prophet shed more light about the Savior, the future of Israel, the gentiles and the latter days than any other. Isaiah helped Hezekiah have faith as to petition the Lord to defend Israel from certain destruction at the hands of the Assyrians. What she did not know is that a few years later another king had him killed by cutting him with a wooden saw. That is the historical pattern.
  14. Yes, I know. The point was that people have done less than apparently reasonably things when driven by an ideal. It is not justification but an observation. Soldiers do not debate politics or ideology. They have a unit and a mission and they will die to protect and accomplish, respectively. They do not ponder upon orders, observe political correctness vocabulary or behavior at times. Once their mind is set in an objective and they make a commitment they keep it and act accordingly. So, although the story may be fictitious it is very credible, in my estimation. But, if you've never been a soldier I do not expect you to understand.
  15. Well, Burr did shoot Hamilton over what may have been just rumors of insult all why being the Vice President of the US. Yesterday's traitors and persecuted, accused of sedition against their ruler and government are today's heroes. I just love American history.
  16. Well, you can base jump off the Twins Falls, ID bridge in a clown suit with an Elvis impersonator officiating and the Church will not care. BUT if you want to marry in the Church chapel with Priesthood authority officiating there are some guidelines. Why is it so hard to understand?
  17. I had limited exposure to the subject in terms of personal experience. It is a difficult situation (non-temple weddings) for all involved so I wonder why the soon-to-be-wedded do not just keep it simple? Without pointing fingers or sounding judgmental, they can't have a wedding and ceremony as they wanted because of the choices they have made for their lives. Why burden others trying do more than it is possible just to satisfy tradition, friends or their own expectations and dreams? Do the right thing, do it now and work your hardest to regain your standing before God. Some things can not be (at least at the time we want them to be) and we should be content with that. Just some thoughts.
  18. Just you bud. You have been marked
  19. Why not get baptized now? Baptism has nothing to do with your marriage. If it is true that you are trying to folow God's command then start now. Just a thought.
  20. There is snow in the hillsides around Jerusalem and Jordan during the winter. Occasionally, the snow falls around 1000 ft which will be sufficient for flakes to reach the northern plain where Lehi's family lived. 21. The are other Miss USA that had similar pictures disclosed after the fact and they did not lose their crown. This is nothing but a political witch hunt. She stated her opinion on a very polarized subject and it was not politically correct so now "she has to pay for it." If she would have said something like "I don't care" nothing would have happen and she would have moved on with the rest of the Miss beauty pageant viewing public. It is after all a meaningless event but a money making opportunity. The rest is just the consequences of her past choices.

Have you ever seen in the movies when somebody is hysterical and screaming and someone else comes and slaps them them saying "snap out of it" or some other corny phrase like that? Well, the slap is not designed to knock the person into unconsciousness, or take 2-3 teeth out in the process and scare them half to death. The slap is not designed to "teach them a lesson" or punish them for some misbehaving and put the fear of G-d into them. A physical reprimand is designed to interrupt and redirect inappropriate behavior. It is a non-verbal queue tht signals that whatever it is going on has to stop NOW!! In the military they drill you and scream at your face as a way to help you focus, pay attention, retain the information, inpact your fragmented adolescent mind and, in as a top down hierarchy, so that you know who is the top dog and where you stand in the food chain. If you are hitting your child in anger, frustration, animosity and as a means to control them, you should do some reading and parenting training. Don't feel bad, after all the only parental traning most of us had was our own parents. But that is a story for a different post.
  23. This is what is wrong with college education in the US, in my opinion. There are tons of closeted socialists teaching, all of them with tenured tracks, publishing garbage disguised as research and cutting edge social policy findings. None of them would be alive in the third world, none of them had ever the courage and integrity to go and defend their own nation and none of them are willing to put thei rmoney where their mouth is and go live somewhere where the much trumpeted change is needed. The sad part is that we can not even fire them!!
  24. I understand the desire to be supportive and express care for friends that have same gender attraction. But the situation described in the OP is not attainable. It would be the same as me cheating on my wife and bringing my girlfriend to church. Sin remains sin regardless of our desire to minimize its impact, ignore the social backlash or our longing for the comfort of the Spirit. The domestic situation of this same sex couple does not diminish the fact that they remain unrepentant and living in sin. Unmarried people would be advised to abstain from taking the sacrament, praying for the congregation, officiating or speaking. This is no different. If I break the covenant I lose the privilege of partaking of the sacrament, exercising my priesthood, officiating, serving in the temple and even perhaps my exaltation. Sad and tragic as it may be I have nobody to point fingers to or blame but myself. I brought it upon myself. Harsh reality but unavoidable. We will not be saved in our sins. The ONLY way to regain our standing before God is to repent and sin no more.
