Gaining weight can be associated with aging, but it can also be associated with a sedentary lifestyle. In my friends wife's case....it's probably both. I have recently learned that she has been exercising and eating a healthier diet. I would imagine it is very discouraging to see your eternal companion lose interest in staying fit.....even temporarily. I don't imagine anyone who marries someone that they are physically turned on by is very excited about excessive weight gain, whether by the man or the woman. It's one thing to be slightly over your ideal weight because of lifestyle choices.....say 10-20 lbs, but to be 60-100lbs over weight because of no exercise and poor diet is ....gross. When a person, male or female stops resembling the person you married because of laziness, obviously, the physical attraction can take a turn for the worse. All of the advice and comments have been much better than my advice. I suggested he dump her for someone really young and hot!! (just joking).

I would paint the fence. Maybe they will feel inspired to be better neighbors, at the very least it will improve the appearance to other neighbors.

So, your saying he should accentuate the positive aspects of his wife and give her some extra attention and that will boost her self esteem and her desire to take control of her life again?

I think the assumption that he is not "adding" oil is quite a leap. I am fairly certain that he is......as I asked him if they were still "intimate" and he said yes and frequently. But , I think the whole weight and self esteem issue has made that part of there relationship not very fulfilling......I think.

Perhaps he isn't interested in dragging her off to the bedroom because of he finds her sexually un-attractive.

I think they have a pretty good relationship. I don't think it is uncommon for a spouse to lose "interest" in their significant other for various reasons. Physical attraction certainly plays a part in the whole relationship process, and let's face it, everyone'e appearance changes as the years roll by. His wife is not un-attractive, but she has put a "substantial" amount of weight.

I have a friend at church who has shared with me that he is no longer attracted to his wife. He doesn't want a divorce and is not planning to leave, he is just not physically attracted to her anymore. What changed? He said she has gained a lot of weight and just doesn't take care of herself anymore. I think he feels pretty miserable about it. What do you do when this happens? I am guessing that if he had gained a lot of weight and didn't take care of himself very well, she might feel the same. Any advice?

The cross....crucifixion was the means by which our Lord was put to death. I understand that many Christians sects identify the cross as a symbol of their faith, however, Christ did so much more than just die. In Gethsemane he took upon himself the sins of all mankind....on conditions of repentance and on the cross at Golgotha he was put to death and arose three days later. The cross is not the epicenter, the Atonement is the epicenter. It is the greatest event in the history of the world. Less focusing on his death and more focusing on the message of his life is what is truly needed here. Here is an excerpt from a favorite talk that describes very well those blessed events:

Thanks so much for the thoughts, opinions and comments....they are all very enlightening and very much appreciated. -Bytor

Well he is civilly divorced, but still sealed to his former spouse and I am fairly certain he has only been living church standards for a couple of weeks. So, he has a long way to go.

I am guessing he will at the very least be spending some time with the Stake President.

My best friend is returning to church after 15 years of inactivity. He is an endowed member of the church and was sealed to his wife when he was 20 years old. Fast forward to present. He left his wife for a younger woman and now that has ended. He wants to try and repair his life and I have encouraged him to come to church. He tells me that he has been feeling the Spirit and wants to continue. He has also been reading the Book of Mormon and praying. In conversations with him I have learned that he never really had a testimony, he was just going through the motions because that was what was expected of him. ( he grew up in the church) Over the last 15 years he has committed adultery on numerous occasions and ultimately left his wife for a younger woman. He did not live the gospel at all. Given the fact that he is been inactive for 15 years and even when he was he was just going through the motions, do you think he will be excommunicated? If you have experience with these type of councils, I would appreciate your input. -Bytor

This verse always gives me a great deal of comfort:

After a long discussion with Elphaba, I have decided to become a Democrat. The truth is,I really do love President Obama and agree with everything he says, I just didn't understand. Thank you, thank you, thank you Elphaba!!!!!!!!! APRIL FOOLS!!!!!!!!!!!:bouncingclap:

George Tennet said it did......a panel convened by Bush said it didn't......but I think in extreme circumstances, I am all for it....send in Jack Bower:D
-
Truthfully, I am being sarcastic. I am for extreme interrogation techniques and for execution if the crimes warrant such a punishment after a fair military tribunal has determined it.
-
If by a trial, you mean habeus corpus......NO. No access to U.S. courts. Military tribunal, ok and then on to the M-16's.
-
You might want to apply the preceding verse as well:
-
I will laugh at it......torture the snot out of them and then line them up in front of a bunch of Marines with M-16's and send them to join the rest of there murderous brothers!

I wonder if the aborted children will not be born again until the millenium and just like a child that dies before the age of accountability, they become heirs to the Celestial kingdom. I guess they could be adopted into a family that would actually want them.
