  1. Don't be puzzled, there really is no need. Again, much is speculation. If it isn't canonized in scripture, then really it's best to pray about it and be led by the Holy Spirit. The plan of salvation is canonized as scripture. The church, our beliefs, our doctrine and the direction given by men sustained as Prophets, Seers and Revelators is not nearly as confusing as you may be lead to believe by reading an internet forum. I am guessing that if you could read all of the quotes from past Pope's, you might be left scratching your head because you really don't know the context of their statements.
  2. Ceebooboo, I am unaware of any Prophets of the church condemning another Prophet. That being said, it is difficult to have an accurate understanding of something Brigham Young was quoted as saying because the historical records just don't contain enough information. If we had a time machine and could travel back to Brigham Young's time and ask some questions, we might be very surprised to learn that we have got it all wrong. Not every word uttered by someone sustained as the Prophet of the church is revelation. They are men like you and I and are likely in the dark about many things just like you and I. Issues that relate to the salvation of mankind are cut and dry......some questions like the topic of this thread just lead to speculation and personally I think that the Biblical record on the birth of the Savior is adequate and accurate enough for our purposes.
  3. Very sorry for your loss
  4. Doesn't really matter if I think the creeds are an abomination or not......but it's very clear that Heavenly Father does.....and why shouldn't he? The creeds that attempt to define God have confused honest seekers of truth for centuries. God is literally our Heavenly Father and we are just as literally his children. It is his work and his glory to bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of man.....he wants us to be happy and return home, to live in his presence, and sit with him on his throne and reign with him forever in everlasting glory. So, when I read the comments, I am led to believe exactly what I said. To answer your question directly about reformed theology........We claim the privilege of worshiping Almighty God according to the dictates of our own conscience, and allow all men the same privilege, let them worship how, where, or what they may. My comments really add nothing to your OP and for that I must apologize, I read the magazine article and the other links that you posted and was thinking out loud when I posted my comments and they are purposely vague.
  5. Ahh, but he did write favorably of those who blazed the path.....perhaps he didn't give credit specifically to those you mention, but credit nonetheless.
  6. It would be very interesting indeed to hear what they think of the state of Christianity if they could view it today.
  7. At the risk of offending my new Catholic friend.......they just might. Of course, I hope you know that I meant no offense to you or anyone of the many visitors of other faiths. This is a great commentary......if you are LDS might be more appropriate.:)
  8. Thanks....I love Elder McConkie
  9. The morning breaks, the shadows flee.....another talk by Brother McConkie about the apostasy...
  10. Who's theology......beware of those who desire to set up their own kingdom. If they really new anything about God, they would never ask these questions. Is it any wonder that Joseph was answered, "I was answered that I must join none of them, for they were all wrong; and the Personage who addressed me said that all their creeds were an abomination in his sight." How sad must our Father be when his children have no real understanding of our true relationship with him.
  11. I think definitely being a moron. I would be interested in reading a homophobic comment made by Justice Scalia if you would care to post.....or is that your opinion? His dissenting opinion that you are referring to is not evidence of homophobia....IMO
  12. A great talk by Elder Bruce R McConkie.......
  13. We tend to refer to theses levels of heaven as kingdoms of glory. Then the woman or worthy spouse that kept his/her covenants will likely be sealed with a new spouse....if they want to continue to exaltation. Exaltation is to have eternal increase,it is to live the kind of life that God lives, to attain his attributes. In order to attain exaltation, we must enter into the New and Everlasting Covenant of marriage and keep our covenants in order for that covenant to be in effect. A Wrong. All humankind...everyone who has ever lived or will ever live will have the opportunity to hear and accept the Gospel, whether in this world or in the world of spirits. That is why we do Temple work for our deceased ancestors.... Yes, it is a kingdom of a glory....but that is the end of your increase. Hell is a different subject.

  17. So......President Monson is riding in a limousine and he mentions to the driver that he has never driven a limo before and would it be ok if he drove. The limo driver said sure...no problem. So, President Monson slips behind the wheel and starts cruising around Salt Lake..... a little too fast. He looks in the rear view mirror and sees that he is being pulled over. The office approaches the car and sees that President Monson is driving and is unsure what to do, so he calls his supervisor. Officer: I know we are supposed to give tickets to important people but I am unsure what to do, because I have pulled over someone really important. Supervisor: Is it the Governor? Officer: No even more important. Supervisor: Is it the President? Officer: No, even more important. Supervisor: Well, who is it? Officer: I think it must be Jesus, because President Monson is driving!
