  1. I think Islander was referring to the part of the discussion that morphed into an argument about "gay" issues, not the OP topic.
  2. You know, I can't help but see Spicoli (from Fast Times at Ridgemont High) whenever I hear Sean Penn spouting his political rhetoric....that helps me put him in perspective. Have another bong toke, dude! Seriously, he is a great actor and so is Tim Robbins, but they have kind of ruined it for me.
  3. I am not being hypocritical, I merely stated that some gay people do in fact recruit and NOW, you are in agreement with my statement. The rest of your comments are irrelevant to the discussion. I am not bashing gays and I am not defending inappropriate behavior by anyone.
  4. So, some bears eat people and some don't. Your statement that gay people don't recruit is false. Some "gay" people do recruit and some don't. As for the rest of your comments about missionary rules and Sunday school teacher rules .........?????
  5. Dang....I don't get it...is Obama the anti-christ or not???
  6. II Nephi 2: 22 And now, behold, if Adam had not transgressed he would not have fallen, but he would have remained in the garden of Eden. And all things which were created must have remained in the same state in which they were after they were created; and they must have remained forever, and had no end. 23 And they would have had no children; wherefore they would have remained in a state of innocence, having no joy, for they knew no misery; doing no good, for they knew no sin. 24 But behold, all things have been done in the wisdom of him who knoweth all things. 25 Adam fell that men might be; and men are, that they might have joy. 26 And the Messiah cometh in the fulness of time, that he may redeem the children of men from the fall. And because that they are redeemed from the fall they have become free forever, knowing good from evil; to act for themselves and not to be acted upon, save it be by the punishment of the law at the great and last day, according to the commandments which God hath given. 27 Wherefore, men are free according to the flesh; and call things are given them which are expedient unto man. And they are free to choose liberty and eternal life, through the great Mediator of all men, or to choose captivity and death, according to the captivity and power of the devil; for he seeketh that all men might be miserable like unto himself
  7. When I was a teen, I used to know nearly every line of a Clockwork Orange.......my how times have changed.
  8. Gays don't recruit anybody, huh? You sure about that? A few years back the local high school girls softball team got into trouble for "recruiting". It was quite a game to see how many girls they could "turn". As for locker rooms, they may not recruit, but I am sure a bit of "trolling" goes on. I am all for putting a towel on in the locker room while heading for the shower......but there are always lots of old gents who don't seem to care and walk around without....
  9. "Flamboyant excitement, passed off as spiritual experience". That's a phrase from a story in the Ensign about a young man's journey to the gospel. He described attending a charismatic church in that manner. I sometimes watch TBN and other religious programming to see what others believe. I am absolutely amazed at the size of some of these churches....and even more amazed at the message being preached and what's even more disheartening is how well it is received. It is however, very revealing. People are seeking God, they just don't really know where to find Him. So many are pulled in by "flamboyant excitement passed off as spiritual experience." Perhaps, we are now living in a time due to the economic misfortune, that God is humbling his children to prepare them to receive the good news. We haven't had a baptism in our ward in a very long time. I guess that is also the bad news of what is being offered elsewhere. I wish the church had a network program that ran 24 hours a day....other than BYU TV. Something available everywhere. Like EWTN, the Catholic program. The internet is a great source of information, both pro and con towards the church. I wonder which argument tends to reach the biggest audience.
  10. The things of God can only be understood by the power of the Holy Spirit, Jasper. The Bible, in it's present form doesn't contain all the answers. There is a Prophet on the earth and communication with God has resumed. This is cause for rejoicing.
