Obama Rally Reach 22% Recover from Bear Market
bytor2112 replied to Elphaba's topic in Current Events
Yeah, it makes me scratch my head as well. At the risk of sounding like a conspiracy nut, even if Obama wants to move the U.S. toward a more European style Socialist system, surely he must recognize the danger of this type of spending. Maybe he is just getting seriously flawed advice or maybe he is ignoring sound advice....probably a bit of both. -

I am not going to participate, because of the stated intent. Since I believe that the stated intent is bogus, I will not be party it. But if you are and believe in it, that's cool for you, just not so much for me. -
I was never a religious person. I went through a period in my late 20's when I rejected the whole notion of God. I was baptized in the LDS church as a teen....my best friend was a member and I joined the church...but not really. Prior to that I had been baptized a Southern Baptist...about age 12?? Before that I attended an Assembly of God church. So, I have been all over the board religiously and I have always been intrigued by the Catholic church I became an active member of the LDS church in March of 2005. Believe me when I tell you ....I didn't want to. My kids wanted to go to church....I had no interest, zero, and frankly no real belief.....and I loved coffee and other things that were really bad for me. A neighbor stopped by our home to welcome us to the neighborhood.....of course we had been living there for a year, but as it turned out he was on a mission from the church. The church never forgets you.......I like to say now that the Lord never forgets you. There were other well intentioned members that tried to make contact over the years....but no thanks. Anyways, a week later, some missionaries showed up at my door and wanted to teach our children. My kids were very excited and so I relented and said ok. We scheduled an appointment for them to come back. I started researching the LDS church on the internet and I was stunned by what I found. How could I have been so dumb as a teen? Look at all this information about Joseph Smith and the Book of Mormon can't possibly be true. I was really torn, I didn't want my kids to get sucked in, but I would be polite and hear them out and again my best friend and his family were LDS and just awesome people, so could it really be that bad? We began meeting with the missionaries and something happened. Something that I can only describe and continue describe as Holy and sacred. The Holy Spirit filled my home and as a family we were converted. The gospel changed my life in ways to numerous to explain....I am a miracle of the grace of Jesus Christ. The witness of the Spirit as we call it or when people say they know the church is true is something that is undeniable. As a member, I have this experience, usually daily, it is literally the Holy Spirit of God communing with my Spirit. It is quite literally being in the presence of God. If it were not for this continuing experience that is Holy and sacred, I would not be LDS. It is the reason most are members of the church. It is why I not only believe in God and his beloved Son, but know that they exist. I don't know why some never receive a witness, maybe it's not there time. Only Heavenly Father knows. I do know we are his children, he loves us and will deal fairly with us.....he is perfect and his love for us is perfect......his work and his glory is to " bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of man". Very cool. (repost)

I keep all unnecessary lights turned off, because I like to lower my power bill. I won't be participating in earth day because I think climate change is a scam. -

I think to many people knee jerk at the phrase climate change too.......but for the completely opposite reason. Read the document obtained from the U.N., I posted it on the thread about global warming and wealth redistribution. I love clean air and fresh water. I am a huge fan of state and national parks. I hate pollution and despise litter and waste.......I am after all a Scout Master:D But, global warming/climate change is a huge fraud and it is being rammed down kids throats as though it were the gospel and it frankly sickens me. -

Presidents don't create jobs....unless they expand the size of government. The economy and free enterprise creates jobs despite poor fiscal and more rapidly do to sound fiscal policy. He COULD have significantly reduced the deficit, but chose instead to spend our country into dangerously unsustainable debt. He could withdraw all the troops....why doesn't he? After all he was opposed to the war and his buddies in Congress said publicly that the war in Iraq was lost. (Sen. Reid) As for Bin Ladin and cancer cures.....I'd rather have the cancer cure. -
Obama gets 51% approval rating... in Utah
bytor2112 replied to LittleWyvern's topic in Current Events
Those numbers are not current....better check the dates. Rasmusen reports: Overall, 56% of voters say they at least somewhat approve of the President's performance so far. -

bytor2112 replied to LittleWyvern's topic in Current Events
That's lower than his national numbers which are 56% I believe. Jimmy Carter actually had a 75% approval rating in mid-March of his first year. That certainly didn’t last. -

Well, not all Americans, LM. Nearly half of the people who cast ballots would likely disagree with him and I suspect a growing number of those who did are beginning to disagree with him as evidenced by recent polls. But for sure, Americans have short memories and attention spans......unfortunately those who would do us harm are very patient and committed. I am sure they are having a good laugh at our folly......

....and changing from the "War on Terror" to "Overseas Contingency Operation" accomplishes this? We are going to win the "hearts and minds" of countries that are infested with radicals who seek to harm America by changing from War on Terror to Overseas Contingency Operation.......who'd of thought it could be that easy. Should of thought of that years ago.

So, your saying that you don't like my suggestions???? You should probably note that I don't disagree with much of your comments, however, leaving the bad guys with the impression that we are taking our eyes off the ball is not a great idea. They will no doubt see this as a sign of weakness and try and exploit it. As far as our over reaching policies of the last several years, I am not a fan.

Obama Rally Reach 22% Recover from Bear Market
bytor2112 replied to Elphaba's topic in Current Events
Personally, I hate anything that I view as bad for our country. D_ _ _ the party and politicians. It's time for politicians to become statesmen and to start putting the interest of America ahead of their political ideology and agenda. -
How about "International Outreach to Reform Murderous Behavior"? That's catchy! Or maybe, "Operation make Osama love Obama"? I like that one too....

The markets respond to good news. Sales of existing homes were up 5.1%......probably due to a lot of short sales, but still good news. Sales of new homes are up and though I believe TARP and the "Stimulus" bill and the AIG bailout is absolutely whacked, I am glad that the Treasury is beginning to address the issue of the bad debt....even if the idea sucks (and I am not saying it does) at least the market has a bit of certainty for a change. Investor confidence is beginning to return, I see it in my own private practice and truly, there are a lot of great opportunities in the capital markets. I hope President Obama body checks Pelosi and Reed before our country is bankrupt and inflation is as bad or worse that it was in the late 70's. It is pretty bad when we are being criticized for our spending habits by European socialists. It does appear that some Democrats are coming around.....I guess they are part of the right wing conspiracy also, or maybe they love their country more than their party....that would be refreshing. -
I feel safer already......

Because a non-member read something on an anti-site that claims that Mormons believe God had sexual intercourse with Mary and wanted to find out if that is indeed our beliefs.
