Great statement.....and I will agree with that. Control is the key word Knew a guy years ago who was gay....that's what he told everyone anyways.... he became a priest in the Catholic church to help control his feelings.....I know how stupid that sounds now....but he actually did something that he thought would help his spirituality. He did what he thought was best for him. Edited after thinking.... I also knew a young man, who served with my ex in the military, he couldn't handle the fact that he was gay, he didn't know where to turn or who to ask for help...... he hung himself. Sadly, he also, did what he thought was best for him. He was in his early twenties. If it wasn't for self control....where would most of us be today? Honestly.

Cal, there is nothing wrong with your testimony....some have stronger testimonies and some have weaker ones. We are who we are and believe what we will.... Oh, BTW.....I think Setheus is referring to some kind of pistol...... However I think that a loaded weapon should be left at home when there could be children involved

I remember those days :) I just wanted to say YAY along with you

Great statement! Actually this is what I was told by my Stake President years ago. Being a single mom is a test, a test of what- I would like to know- but a test nonetheless. It tests our patience, our resouces, our stamina, and our sanity. However, I found that it also increased the love I had for my children, and my faith. And I was questionning my status in the "over all plan" and went to my Stake President (a ward friend) and asked him. I was told not to worry, that God is a just God and will take care of His faithful children.....if not in our mortal existance, then in the spirit world.... just keep true to my faith and that all things will work out. I think the same thing applies to your mom....it will work out, the worthy and righteous will not be seperated as families....God knows the hearts of those who love Him.....He understands more than some give Him credit for. Trust in God...."all things will work out." :)

well, mojo....not that it helps you any...but I do have an Indian friend who is 21...but she is going to university in South Africa at the moment..... and I hope that you don't hold your breath looking for Asian Indians in West Virginia. Although I did make friends with a woman from Sri Lanka in a little hicktown in Washington State ( not East Coast.....West Coast)

Seems that some justice has been served. I'm glad that things worked out the way they did.... when your boys are old enough to apply for a job...well....there you have it.I dont' know what to say about the disaster issue....I know that there are people who are in the position to help and there are people who aren't. Those who can only offer prayers shouldn't feel bad about the small token they have to offer.

Good point! One of the questions I still have to this day.. is the "symbolism" of pomp and circumstance really what Christ want's for His people? I think of the Indiana Jones movie when the shiny and decorated goblet was chosen and lo and behold.....that choice was wrong. The riches and wealth paraded about means nothing to me, but I do have the upmost respect for Billy Graham. Always have, always will. And I have deep love and respect for Pres. Hinkley for who he is and what he stands for. Pomp and Circumstance.....BLAAAAH

What did I give in the name of the Christ Child? Compassion for others..... but that isn't just kept inside for Christmas time..... it's spread thoughout the year. (isn't that what we are supposed to do? )

It's very hard to know who says a silent prayer for those who need it. I thought it was in the scriptures somewhere that prayers should be kept private, so not to draw attention to oneself.Fear not, Pushka, I'm sure that prayers have been given from many board members, for those who died in the disaster, and for those who lost friends and family.

But...you're taken, aren't you, Snow?

I will agree with rejection of God and/or the Christ after knowing the truth in your heart. To deny the Holy Ghost...same thing to me Another biggy to me....Sexual perversion - I think that is self-explanatory Murder- a commandment that shouldn't be broken and I'll adopt a couple of Gandhi's deadly sins: Pleasure without Conscience and Worship without Sacrifice I really like that last one......made me think about a lot of things. that's 5

I third it! or was that fourth it? Hope it was happy day for both of you!

Good luck with everything Faerie! You don't have to worry about things right now....just make sure that your bag is packed and you know what to expect when it comes time. Nothing to eat after a certain point....ice chips will be your friend!!!!! Prayers will be sent your way......and you will be blessed with a little life to have and to love!!!!!

I believe there are a lot of peole who get miracles without fasting and praying for them themselves. But my dad fasts and prays for all the world asking God to bless all according to their needs. Maybe it is his prayers and fasting which brings miracles to those who don't fast and pray for them. Maybe there are lots of good people who fast and pray for those they don't even know. ohhh ohhhh goosebumps.....exactly the people I was thinking of..... Thanks Amillia!

Well, I wish you would write that book. I would definitely read it! This whole subject has just never seemed rational in my mind - and as a Christian, that is difficult. well, I could count on ONE person to purchase it! Thanks....you made me smile And I do agree with you Shantress, to a point, I do believe that "more people get them ( miracles) than just the ones being prayed/fasted for." But we never know who's prayer has covered who. There are so many prayers said, and we don't know who they are for, only those in Heaven know that. I knew a horrible person (s/brother's best friend) who was spared further injury (than he what he received) from a explosion, I thought he was granted a miracle. My stepbrother, the agnostic, told me that miracles don't exist- just freak luck. I sat and contemplated about what and why, and wondered the reason behind it all. All I know is somehow, somewhere, someone needed something from this person (what it could be boggles the mind ) But of course there was probably several thousand prayers offered that day for all the athesists in the world to be blessed, I have heard that very unselfesh people think of praying for EVERYONE and not just the ones who we really think need it. Ouch, that one hurt ME.....it's been a while since I thought of including those that need the light of Christ and the knowledge of God in the dark empty hole in their chest. (lump forming in throat) Which reminds me of the other miracle that day (one I had prayed for)....when my s/brother heard a small voice (from the empty room) telling him to get away from Mike......GET AWAY NOW!!! (he listened...and suffered little injury).......But that is another story

SF~You know how I feel about so many things.....and while reading this post, I got that feeling all over again..... Great things in store for Nick :) When I told Nick that he was here for a reason, he told me that he knew it and that he was grateful for it. Now to witness the reasoning behind the miracle........ :) And Shantress....You never know how God works, we can not second guess His reasoning. Why would one life be better than another? ....I don't think that it is it at all. You don't know what prayers were being said for the little orphan girl, or who was saying them. It could have been ONE heartfelt, faithful, “earnest prayer” that saved her. No one can understand the reasoning behind who is allowed to be a "miracle" and who isn't. I could write a book on how I feel about this. Prayers and fasting for a miracle that doesn't happen, been there, seen that (not happen) ....very hard to comprehend for those left behind. But there may be a miracle in the live of one who is left behind because of the prayers and faith of others. It's hard to see the larger picture sometimes when we only see one small piece in front of us. Trav~ Thanks for that post....found the perfect words to help my thoughts.
-
I think that God helps us realize how powerful prayers and fasting are when He lets us witness a miracle. The greatest minds on earth cannot understand the plans, the thoughts or the actions of "heavenly intervention". No one can second guess God or His intentions, and at times it's very hard to comprehend the reasoning. I am thankful for the miracle of Nick, and I know that he has something special planned for him, I hope that I am around long enough to witness the special plan that was set aside for him.

Those are some great idea there TXRed! I know how the missionaries love the spirit of Christmas! I remember one year when I asked our "guys" if they could have anything for Christmas....what would they want. Food was one of the cherished items, socks was high on the list also. It's nice to see people remembering and helping missionaries thru the holidays, it must be rough on a lot of them.

To those who have helped others during the holiday season, you know what a blessing it is to see the happiness you can bring to others. One of the things my father taught us all was the act of charity.....he's not a religious man, but I remember the few things he taught us as children. 1 Cor. 13: 13 13 And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity. He told me to keep my faith, to never give up hope, and to always keep charity in my heart. He is a very wise man :)
