  1. I think that is great what you are doing to share with others Marsha..... there are so many children who won't have something special for Christmas because of family situations...... Anyone seen the video by Jimmy Wayne called "Paper Angels" on CMT? It is a great video about wishes, hopes, and heartache...(it's country!) but also about caring, sharing, and the love people have for children; and at the end he sends thanks to those who are helping make a child happy this Christmas. I challange everyone who reads this post to do something special for a child, a teenager, a single parent with a baby, or even a senior citizen who lives alone. If even 5 people do something special for one person.....that's 5 extra smiles this holiday season. Times that for by a family of 4......that's 20 happy smiles. I'm sure that even the "finacially challenged" amongst our board family can find the time to do something for someone...even if it baking a batch of holiday goodies to share. A $5 doll or a $3 toy car could mean so much to a child, clothes are a nice bonus...but usually not considered special by a child. Ok, the teens love "cool" clothes.....but keep in mind the pink bunny suit on Christmas Story! :) Anyone up for a challenge?
  2. thanks Ray :)
  3. I guess what I expect is what I was told as a child....and what I believe as an adult.....that the stars would go out (or fall from the sky) and the sun would be darkened and the moon will not shine, and in the midst of the darkness a trumpet will be heard and Christ will be seen asending from the clouds in light and glory. When I see Him in the sky, I will know that He is here. I will still heed the warnings of the false Christ's and false prophets who want us to believe that He is here. So yes, I will be looking for signs of the second coming in the sky, not in a grilled cheese sandwich Matthew 24 says a lot: Matt. 24: 23-31 23 Then if any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is Christ, or there; believe it not. 24 For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect. 25 Behold, I have told you before. 26 Wherefore if they shall say unto you, Behold, he is in the desert; go not forth: behold, he is in the secret chambers; believe it not. 27 For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. 28 For wheresoever the carcase is, there will the eagles be gathered together. 29 Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken: 30 And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. 31 And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other The answer for me would be trumpet and seeing the Son coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. Simple and to the point.
  4. It's my time to shine No more holding back His will not mine I'm not going to hide The need to share This peace inside
  5. I thought about my last post....and I hang my head in shame for a millisecond, I feel like I should have welcomed the new poster, before I let myself post in sarcastic humor. I can't really complain about the more larger, complicated words, it's nice to be able to use my brain and try to figure them out...... actually I have fun doing it. And, you do make a good point Setheus, to want everyone to feel included. So welcome to the board new poster! I havent' been around as much as I used to be....... and you will have to forgive my sarcastic humor at times.....that's just me.....can't..... mustn't........ won't change for anyone
  6. Ganging up now, are you? Does that seem fair to you, Setheus? Or does your unabashed sycophancy leave you with no choice? Gee Miss Deb....I can't understand what you just said...could YOU please tell me what "sycophancy" means? Sorry, I just couldn't help myself.....had to be done :) New girl in town?
  7. HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY MY FRIEND! Wishing you all the best, and more!!!
  8. Actually, having dinner with both girls, their families, and daughter's inlaws (mother-father in-law, sister in-law (and her daughter) and the grandmother in-law. So I guess it will be around 14 people on T-day.......the more the merrier! :)
  9. Thanksgiving to me is family and friends, I am so sorry for those who will miss loved ones during the holidays. SF-Blessed....I am deeply sorry for the void. Marsha, hang in there, let me know how you are doing since our last chat. Spencer......yes, yes, yes, tell your Grandma how much she means to you, you are so lucky to have the chance to spend with her :) boy, do I miss my Grandma, she had a big part in my life as well. Funny, how we can talk to, and still have a connection with those who have passed......no, not funny since it's a blessing that we have had given to us. But yet I have to smile remembering when my daughter came to me and said, "I just talked to Grandpa, he's doing fine." (Grandpa had passed away 5 years before.) I didn't blink an eye, and it warmed my heart to hear it. :)
  10. I agree. I like to believe that most of our spiritual leaders are righteous and good. But this whole attitude of "obey, obey, obey" is absolutely mind numbing. There are way too many historical examples of evil leadership to make me anxious to just blindly follow any authority figure--except the Savior. We have God's words. We have the law. We have the Holy Ghost, we have our common sense. I don't believe in blind, unconditional obedience to mortals. Sorry Ray. very well said Curvette thank you
  11. I found this thread interesting.....authority figures, submission, following the "leader" no matter what..... I started to get a headache from trying to follow it all My two cents: It doesnt' matter if the authority figure is your mother, father, grandparent or bishop/priest/preacher...etc - if you are told to do something that you think is wrong for you, than it probably is....and that is why God gave is the ability of choice. I know that there are parents, church leaders, school teachers, etc who are all considered "authority figures" who make really wrong choices, and bring down innocent children who follow them blindly because they trust them, and they have been told all their lives to obey the authority figures. Wrong is wrong is wrong...authority or not. I'm done P.S. SF tell Hubby HAPPY LATE BIRTHDAY from me :)
  12. I saw a billboard somewhere making the statement that the human heart starts doing something at 18 days after conception ( I didn't see the whole thing) so I did a search on the web to see if I could find something to explain that statement.....and here is part of what I found: This is on God And Science.org website.... http://www.godandscience.org/doctrine/scie...ceabortion.html I had to stop before I got to the end of the page, it made me sick to my stomach just reading about it. Of course there is a warning.... It would have to be one of the most agonizing decisions to make for medical reasons, but for those who just don't give a rip about a human life....they should read up a bit about the procedure and the aftermath IMO. That goes for the "men" involved too. Maybe they would think twice before jumping on the "let's get it taken care of" bandwagon.
  13. DisR~ Sad that their are women in the world who try to play games using a child as a pawn. Saddest for the child involved when the outcome of the fairy tale ending never materializes and the women regrets the life she played with. For those guys who don't want children, that's their choice...some have very good reasons.... a vasectomy does sound like a good answer. For those others who don't want children "just yet".... 4 words.... keep your pants up. There can't be a consequential choice made if the "problem" doesn't exist. Women shouldn't have to shoulder the responsibility of making the choice, if the choice stays in the "Fruit of the (loins) Looms" sorry outshined..... too....... opinionated....could....not.....stop..........myself
  14. I laughed and laughed......groining....... thanks for the smiles!!!
  15. Ok, I'll shut up and listen for awhile.... that will be one less "womenfolk" But I can't make any promises.
  16. A little selfish dont you think? I think a man has every right to his opinion on wether or not his child will be born. your body your choice. bah! Wrong dork boy. If you want to make the decision to carry and deliver a baby, then by all means, do it. Don't think that it's your place EVER to tell another person that they have to do that. It's not your business, nor is it your concern. If you want babies to be born so badly, go get pregnant. Otherwise, shut up. I see your point Bat, I disagree with your point....but I see it nonetheless. Pro live vs choice It will continue to be one of those issues that get hot and heavy because of emotions, beliefs and faith. I know, that a women will have that final choice, no matter what it will be. She will either have the baby and won't kill (abort) it, or she won't blink an eyelash at getting rid of the "inconvience" (abortion), or she will agonize over a decision that will effect her life forever.....keep it or abort it. I think that some men have the right to be selfish with wanting to have an opinion.....then again....some men don't.
  17. HAPPY BIRTHDAY JENDA!!!! HAVE A GREAT B-DAY (GLAD YOUR NOT IN TROUBLE! )
  18. A little selfish dont you think? I think a man has every right to his opinion on wether or not his child will be born. your body your choice. bah! I agree with you Spencer....the father has....or should have a voice in any decision made regarding his flesh and blood.... I think that the sad reality is that so many fathers don't have a choice in the matter.....and that is a reality that they have to live with for the rest of their lives as well. I have talked to some guys who were devestated because they couldn't do anything to stop someone from destroying their child. There is part of me that just want's to haul off and wallop some of these so called "women" who think nothing of responsibility, oops....pregnant? No prob.....I'll just take care of it. Dis....... I'm not going to say anything since I would regret saying it I have to say something .........SELF CONTROL. .....children we don't want?.....I'm going to be sick ....18 years of child support?......Oh BOO FRICKIN HOO! ? I'm going to stop myself now......grrrrrrr
  19. Uno my friend, Everyone has something they have to work at, or on.....so don't fret. I'm sure that if everyone really took a good look at themselves, they would find something that irratates someone. BTW... the Apostle Paul would have to be one of my favorites in the NT> “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Jesus Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek” (Rom. 1:16).
  20. Hey there Blankie girl!I'm Lindy.... Glad to meet you......and no, I'm not a teenager.....just one of the "old" adults on this site who peek into the youth board every now and then. I had to smile when I read your post... I have inlaws from Yelm!!!!! Small world or what? You are probably amazed I even know where it is huh? LOL (I lived in the Tacoma area for years) What do you hear about Mt. St. Helens? We don't hear much about it anymore on this side of the mountains. (Eastern Washington)
  21. I don't think that Matt was upset at all....he made a simple statement and then offered his opinion. LDS or not, I don't think that he was getting all upset over it. Matt are you bitter?
  22. You guys are too much! Thanks for the giggle
  23. Thanks, Setheus for sharing the lyrics, this is one of my favorite Metallica songs....... A lot of things have been said about Metallica, but I love a lot of what they do. I tend to bypass some of the bad things and clue into the good things. Having grown up with all kinds of music, I didn't have a problem sitting down and listening to what my kids were listening to. I will admit I surprised myself (as well as my kids and their friends) when I found out I really liked Metallica's music. Another one of my favorites that others really don't listen to is "The Unforgiven".
  24. Until the next generation of scientist's come and prove exactly the opposite. You know it will happen =) I think you are right on the money with that Spencer.... I think we have a winner!
  25. Two words Proud Duck...... Movie Pass..... if you watch a lot of movies.....it comes in quite handy....no late fees. :)
