  1. It's not Ohio. The registration deadline for Ohio is tomorrow. From the Iowa Voter Registration website:
  2. So what you're saying is that we need to stop spending so much time on this website and go out and walk instead? Is that my problem?
  3. Halfers, you sound like a Seminary teacher gearing up for a new school year! I love it!
  4. The LDS church believes that God created man in His own image (see Genesis 1:26). Evolution vs. creation/intelligent design could be an interesting discussion topic. If you'd like to continue it, please start a new thread, as this one has a specific topic already.
  5. gasp (actually, the first thing I thought was the K.T. Tunstall song "Suddenly I See")
  6. You may be referring to a separate thread...30 things every woman should have/know by the time she's 30. Showed up a couple of days later.
  7. And if you click on the link, you'll see that the exact same list you posted here was posted in that thread.
  8. bottled Dancing with the Stars or So You Think You Can Dance?
  9. These are GREAT suggestions. I would add one more. If you shop at Costco or Sam's Club or somewhere similar that frequently has samples available...don't take them! You are (1) taking in extra calories that you may not be accounting for, and (2) often more likely to purchase that item if you try it.
  10. It still makes debatable whether Israel is stable or not.
  11. A country that requires outside security to keep itself from being obliterated is not, in my opinion, stable.
  12. We just saw this last week...http://www.lds.net/forums/general-discussion/14520-100-skills-every-man-should-know-2.html#post263411
  13. I don't know about anyone else, but if you ask my husband, he'll tell you that I become unreasonably obsessed with pumpkin this time of year. Funny thing is, I don't like pumpkin pie. Give me pumpkin cheesecake, pumpkin bread, pumpkin muffins, pumpkin cookies, pumpkin ice cream, pumpkin ice cream topping (okay, so I haven't tried it yet, but I bought some Smucker's brand Pumpkin Spice flavored ice cream topping at the store today). If you share my obsession with pumpkin in the fall, please post your favorite pumpkin recipes here (or links to them). Here are a few of mine. The Recipe Girl: Pumpkin Cornbread (with Pumpkin Chili, of course)! (I've not made either of these recipes myself, but I saw them this morning and thought they looked really yummy...pumpkin cornbread and pumpkin chili.) And here's a really super yummy cookie recipe: The Kitchen Counter: Whole Wheat Oatmeal Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Cookies
  14. Hard to say. We've supported the Israeli state since its inception after WW2. We helped create it. Was there much terrorism prior to that? If yes, were we victims of it prior to that? (I realize not everyone here is from the US, but I am, hence the "we." No intent to offend or exclude, it just comes out that way.)
  15. That may be, but it has nothing to do with the political affiliations and alliances between the US and any country.
  16. I agree that stable democracies are a good thing, but whether Israel is one is debatable.
  17. That's almost accurate. For one thing, we just refer to it as "the Sacrament." There are some ordinances that have fixed wording, such as baptism, and temple ordinances. In general, however, each prayer is its own.
  18. I cannot agree with this statement more in my own life.
  19. There are many Christian denominations who believe that about the LDS faith.
  20. Halfers, I don't have any specific advice or help to offer, other than that I'm not sure it's entirely healthy to lose 30 lbs by Christmas, and I think that weight gain IS hormonal. Also, here's an offer of a free diabetic dessert cookbook (comes along with an entire diabetic literature kit, but hey...!). I heard about it on a cooking blog I read.
  21. If you want to go by pages, it's a little less than 5 1/2 pages per day, a total of 37ish pages per week. As chapter lengths vary quite a bit, this is more accurate, albeit jumpy.
  22. purchase potato or potahto?
  23. Ditto.
  24. treasure
  25. I don't disagree, but I think that both sides of that are important...keep the church out of the state and keep the state out of the church. Both function at their best levels that way.
