  1. I bet whatever he thought when he was alive is not anything like what he's thinking now
  2. I have to disagree to a point. How many former hippies are insurance analysts? How many draft dodgers are now proud members of the NRA? You can't take the political views of the rising generation for granted.
  3. My parents, both LDS, were sealed in the SL temple about 9 years after they were married in Las Vegas Everyone works at their own pace

    Embarassed?

If it wasn't your Saintliness it would have been something else, like nose hair
  5. My little one went to preschool at 4 years old. I thought she looked very very small until she smiled at me. With the exception of potty training and sleeping through the night I think all kids are more ready for these independent acts than the parents are.
  6. Even if you live within your means if you don't have a job you don't have any money. You can be homeless with born in wedlock children (heck, you can be homeless with BIC children). You can be suddenly very poor if you have a PhD. It's for times like these that the safety nets were designed.
  7. Can you imagine what the nation would be like right now without these programs? A lot more people would be living in their cars I'm sure.
  8. President Obama is not wrong, the USA does have possibly the largest amount of followers of Islam in the world. It's funny how someone that was raised to see the good in every culture/nation/religions in the world could just go out and make a speech talking about good stuff in various cultures/nations/religions. Boggles the mind, even
  9. Since there isn't that many people coming this is a great opportunity to take everyone who does come to the reception someplace really really cool like Las Vegas or Disneyland I am sorry your extended family is unreasonable about this. I'm glad you're getting married in a temple, it's a very good start at married life. At least now you know how things stand, and you won't be surprised by anything else your relatives may do later down the road
  10. I'm glad all of us 'unperfect' Saints found this place. I, too, am not able to make centerpieces out of a tin can and wire, nor do I ever want to understand the fascination for scrap-booking (although the finished product does look kind've neat). Maybe that's why I've never ever dated a Mormon, they can sense I'm not quite perfect?

    UP

I'm taking my daughter to see it this Friday. My sister is taking her boys to see the Terminator movie. We apparently have different parenting styles
  12. You communicated just fine, and I agree with you. I just love the 'spiritual vampire' image I got in my head
  13. Try potty training when you're the only adult (and obviously the only wage-earner) in the household I'm glad your child is doing so good, she'll love kindergarten. Mine did, too. And it's ok to be sad if she doesn't seem to miss you on that first day
  14. 'Accurate gauging'? Try 'sending up trial balloons'. Pravda has never struck me as anything more than a Russian equivalent of maybe The New Yorker. Puffy, biased, and really really full of itself.
  15. You sound like you need to do the fasting and prayer a little bit more lol. But if you do get the strong impression to go on a mission, don't deny it! I did, went and joined the Army instead, and got into a car accident the same day I signed my papers. The physical rehabilitation I needed took about 2 years Coincidence? Maybe, or maybe not......*cue dramatic music*
  16. I think it depends on the rock. Some rocks might be able to get away with a few tasteful leaves, while others would have to have full-length skirting.
  17. I thought it was pretty good.
  18. Eternity is very serious business!!
  19. That's a really good point, thank you. My sister already forbids her kids from riding with him, and I have recently. You know, he was such a sweet kid until he joined the Army. I have nothing but respect for those who serve in the military but I wish there had been more support programs 2 years ago when he came back from Iraq. Right now it seems the programs the VA offers is basically trying to deal with the mess that's made because the soldiers don't know how to deal with returning home.
  20. It sounds as though you and your husband didn't really understand how serious temple marriages are, until after you got one lol. It's not too late! Go to your bishop, tell him what you told us, and get this behind you so you can progress. You'll be 'dammed' spiritually, like how you feel now, until you do. Funny how talking to bishops is almost always the right answer, yet not utilized nearly enough.
  21. I'm very happy for you! Just think, in 18 days you are going to be completely sinless....wow..... Congrats!
  22. Eternity just might be enough time to accomplish all I want to do. Maybe what you need are some eternal goals, like learning how to surf or grow exotic minnows?
  23. I'm willing to bet she's acting this way because she's convinced you will leave because she doesn't feel she deserves to be in a happy place, so she's striking out as a form of control. I'm sorry you're in this position, but think of the reasons why you married her. Her good is still good, she just needs a little boost, probably with the help of a counselor. I remember being like this with my first bf. I was convinced he was going to dump me because I was so far on the wrong side of the tracks you couldn't even see them so I was snarly and angry and a bit uppity, I'm sorry to say. This attitude can be overcome! Not everything can be solved with a hug and a kiss....but maybe lots of hugs and lots of kisses and very thick skin can save the day
  24. Perfect, RobertM. Most women who are chubby know this. Implying the problem is not with them and asking for help is also good tactics for many other etiquette dilemmas.
