  1. bolded by me I've noticed that too, why do you suppose that is? I think it's because the LDS usually has a more eternal perspective, kind've figuring the temple work will be done in this life one way or the other.
  2. I kind've expected better of someone with your good character I agree, there more than likely was WMD considering who was in charge of Iraq lol. Too bad we couldn't find any. But after 6 years you'd think there would have been something. Maybe the USA should offer more reward money. About the lawyers and judges....I just heard on Fox (why am I watching Fox? Cause it's 2 am lol) that Harry Reid says basically we should just drop the whole thing.
  3. No don't say that! I was gonna ask a question about a friend and now I can't
  4. Oh yes those primary songs have a way of chasing out even the worst thoughts and feelings...if you want them to. My favorite is 'Keep the Commandments'. Something about the slowness and solemnity of the song makes it my own little front-end loader when I need to clean my mind of impure thoughts.
  5. Congrats, in no uncertain terms! I think everyone's taken tests that have warped their brains beyond comprehension. But they recover. Just watch a few days of MTV's Real World and you'll go back to being dumb like everyone else
  6. Why did the elephant stand on the marshmallow? He didn't want to fall in the hot chocolate.
  7. Yeah that's the trick, where is the shortfall gonna land if the corporate taxes are cut? Let's say everyone gets a flat 20% tax, no taxes on corporations. Single corporations save millions of dollars in taxes they don't have to pay, compared to the few thousand dollars the wage earner has to pay in taxes. Wage earners cut back on unnecessary spending, saving their money for the very basics like house, car, food, and gas. Are the companies that no longer have customers gonna raise their wages so their employees can buy their stuff? Tax incentives for corporations are great, but individuals need tax incentives too. I say bring it on. The sooner civilization collapses the sooner I don't have to pay back my student loans
  8. I am so impressed. I will admit I don't usually have the best opinion of 'beauty queens' but this one is a hero. She knew what the 'right' answer would be, especially considering who asked the question, and chose to stay true to herself. I applaud her, and hope that many others will be heartened by her great example. For a moment there i was reminded of Abinadi facing the priests of King Noah. Good job.
  9. I would love to see the corporate taxes go away, if only to see what would happen. Are there other nations that don't have capital gains taxes et all, so we have some idea of what would happen, or is the USA gonna be the guinea pig?
  10. I agree. There's more to this. I'm not gonna ask what, but my heart goes out to him
  11. That was so cute!
  12. I've left the videos up, Ruthichan, mostly cause my family is scattered all over the place and wanted to see them. She is on video restriction for 1 week. Also, she can't watch iCarly during this time. It hasn't been a wailing and gnashing of teeth thing either She's writing scripts and reading so she can get ideas for her next episodes. She's trying to get her live cats to cooperate but they're big toms and have their own agenda lol. I agree about teaching kids about the internet, LMM. I guess the problem comes when they learn more then you think they did
  13. Yeah, the last few years have shown how investing your social security contributions into 'investments' is full of win. I'll invest in my 401k, but I would like something that is not gonna poof away because some idiot wanted to see how fast he could make the DOW fall. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Speaking of the welfare state....it sucks. It really does. It makes the downtrodden full of shame and the taxpayers taliban/gestapo/nosy biddies. My family relied on the kindness of gov't agencies for a bit, and I can attest that nothing will change the attitudes of your fellow shoppers faster than when they see that little plastic card. Your 10 pounds of beans, 25 pounds of rice, 2 gallons of milk and 1 dozen eggs will shrink to insignificance when compared to that teeny tiny little bottle of chocolate milk or anything else deemed frivolous and unnecessary by people who don't know you, don't know about your little brother out in the car who had to have shots and is really crying, and just don't care because you're spending their money. It's not their money. It's not your money. It's an investment by the government in a family that in my case has produced 8 taxpayers, 3 of whom have served this country honorably in Iraq. The few thousand dollars that were used for food stamps and cash assistance have been repaid many many times over, sometimes with blood. Can we reform the tax code so that it maybe reflects the fact that capitalism is not set up for everyone to succeed? In fact, if everyone did succeed capitalism would be a dismal failure. Talk about a redistribution of wealth
  14. How fun! I'm jealous What age group?
  15. Dang those must have been some pictures I'm worried about you, sincerely worried. 11 year olds are not really known for their overt sexuality, like, say, 16 year olds are. I think, and this is just my thoughts.....I think you should have a very frank talk with your bishop, and you should tell him about what you haven't told him yet, and have probably never told your parents. If I'm right being completely honest is going to be the best thing you ever did, because you cannot cure the illness unless the cause is known. Be strong, be brave, and rely on your older brother Jesus Christ, because He loves you and wants you to succeed too.
  16. Hey I wear flannel all the time at work and I'm not gay, I simply like the feel of a comfy warm almost blanket at 3am I really blame those stupid videos..umm..'Girls Gone Wild', that show lesbian sexual behavior as something guys really really like and if you don't act like them you're the one that's prudish and wrong. The girl sounds like she has a pretty good head on her shoulders and has made some good goals. She needs to be patient for a few years, until the hormones have died down a bit. I know, try telling a teen to be patient lol. Not everyone dates when they're 16. Not everyone gets married when in college. Not everyone has a perfect teen life. That's what makes us different, and different is interesting
  17. That is just way cool. Congrats! There are tons of angels that are thrilled to pieces because of you
  18. Last night I was working my tail feathers off trying to do 3 jobs (people on vacations) and a couple little 'see if you can squeeze this in if you can find the time''s from the big boss Potato processing plants are hopping places at 230am. See what kind of sacrifices my coworkers and I make to keep everyone eating the best veggie in the world? We were on the Sonic fries. Everyone likes Sonic Awwww, if it weren't Sunday I would so totally get one of the cherry limeades. I wish I could get on the internet at work, but they blocked access. Darn you IT people!
  19. You too? Lol I have to let you know you're not alone. I can pretty much trace my little travel in the dark valley of idiot behavior from when I went to the YSA in my area.
  20. Lol part of what's happening is people are realizing the powers and authority given to Bush II that the Dems were freaking out about are now in the hands of a Dem president. I guess people don't see all the bad things that can happen until the loyal opposition is ascendant. Welcome to the last 8 years, and I hope with both Dems and Reps aware of the problems we can fix them so we're back to a Constitutional government.
  21. This ended up sounding a lot harsher than I meant it, and I'm sorry. What I suggest is taking a deep breath.....and contemplate coloring your hair blue (seriously, there are temp dyes that wash out in about 1-2 weeks. I bet that would shake up your s-i-l enough for her to reexamine what she's been doing).
  22. I think funkymonkey might have a pretty good point. It may be that she's emulating not necessarily you, but your lifestyle. Copying can be very annoying if you're the one being copied. Maybe instead of treating her like trailer-trash your in laws can see her as a daughter of God that is trying to get back to Him. Or she could be an alien that's gonna take over your life after she sucks your brains out
  23. I've gone over internet rules since she learned how to use the keyboard to communicate, so yes she knew them. The long punishment (honestly, it's probably gonna be pc restriction for 1 week, not 1 month) is because she simply is not understanding why she can't do this stuff without my permission.
  24. You could get a soft-covered Book of Mormon, the kind the missionaries give out, roll it up, and bop them on the nose with it lol Video some of what you see and put it on youtube? Probably best to call animal control. Not as much fun perhaps, but prob a lot more effective.
  25. I logged onto my youtube account today and discovered someone had left comments on a video that was uploaded. I thought it was about my silly spore creation, but then I clicked on the link and realized my daughter had uploaded a video she took with the webcam of a skit she wrote, acted out by her stuffed cats. It was adorable and charming and I'm gonna ground her for a month. Has anyone else had any surprises like this or am I the only one with a budding Cecil B. Demille? I suppose I should be grateful she's not taking after Michael Moore
