  1. Nifty! You're pure! Like, one of the most sinless people on the planet! Congrats
  2. And that's why we love them
  3. So who would you get to count the homeless and troubled neighborhoods? As a side note, last time there was a count census workers came to my parent's house and asked about people who lived there ten years earlier. My dad said they didn't live there anymore, but he'd be happy to answer any questions about his family of 10. He was told to have a nice day and we didn't get counted, so our little town had 690 instead of the real 700 people in it when the new numbers were released. I wonder how many times that happens?
  4. How do you know they don't have adamantium claws? You should ask them
  5. mikbone, that is an interesting theory
  6. I was joking, you know that right? lol for an instance there I pictured you in front of Eve explaining what you posted, and I feared for your ears
  7. Women have had various rights throughout history. I think this time is the only one where the majority of powerful nations allow any women regardless of circumstance of birth to hold high office. Last time I remember that happening was Empress Theodora of Constantinople, and she married into it. Ok, lets go with that. This time is one of the few times in human history women could hold political power without either being born into a powerful family or marrying into it.
  8. Dude, where were you 9 years ago? My feelings on Acorn are mixed. Remember Jack in the Box? After the terrible salmonella outbreak they ended up becoming one of the most reliable fast food places in terms of food safety. Hopefully Acorn learned from their mistakes (especially the 'pay for registering voters' incentive, that was just asking for trouble).
  9. Men and women are different, in many wonderful ways. Watching my daughter interact with her boy cousins of the same age for years has proven to me (anecdotal of course) that the two sexes see the world completely different, especially when it comes to matters of fair play and dominance. A few years ago I would step in and try to make their world even with justice for all, but then I started to leave them alone to see what they'd do on their own.... And I saw that while it seemed my daughter was overruled a lot by the boys on what games to play they would use her rules while playing their games. IDK if that has implications for the world in general, but it's made me feel better about my daughter's place in it
  10. That's awesome, congrats!
  11. I picked them because they didn't use all the big words the other articles they cited used.
  12. Nopenope. Here are the articles I really should have cited: parthenogenesis: Definition from Answers.com Quote: On June 26, 2007 International Stem Cell Corporation (ISC), a California based stem cell research company, announced that their lead scientist, Dr. Elena Revazova, and her research team were the first to intentionally create human stem cells from unfertilized human eggs using parthenogenesis. [24] The process may offer a way for creating stem cells that are genetically matched to a particular woman for the treatment of degenerative diseases that might affect her. On August 2, 2007, after much independent investigation, it was revealed that discredited South Korean scientist, Hwang Woo-Suk, unknowingly produced the first human embryos resulting from parthenogenesis. Initially, Hwang claimed he and his team had extracted stem cells from cloned human embryos, a result which was later found to be fabricated. Further examination of the chromosomes of these cells show indicators of parthenogenesis in those extracted stem cells, similarly to those found in the mice created by Tokyo scientists in 2004. Although Hwang deceived the world about being the first to create artificially cloned human embryos, he did contribute a major breakthrough to stem cell research by creating human embryos using parthenogenesis. [25]' What Dad didn't tell you about the birds and bees. - By William Saletan - Slate Magazine Quote: We're not there yet, but we're on the way. Two years ago, British officials authorized human procreation using sperm, nuclear DNA from one woman, and mitochondrial DNA from a second woman' There are more articles of course, with various credibility But the fact is, we know it's possible
  13. You're calling your gggggggggggg(couple hundred generations later)ggrandmother a heifer? You're in soooooo much trouble when you see her again
  14. I'm sorry *does the 'Happy Happy Spring dance' very quietly*
  15. Ummm how about this....Women can give birth to their own clones? Seriously, you jiggle an egg just right and it can start dividing. pretty cool, eh?
  16. I always thought BY was pretty intolerant of those who did not follow or obey what was commanded of them. Polygamy was commanded, thus those who did not follow were not being righteous. If polygamy was condemned of God then those who followed polygamy would be condemned. BY did not see many shades of gray
  17. Pologamy...is that where you use more than 1 ball? Sorry couldn't resist.
  18. I agree with you completely. But if I ever find one in my house I'm running and calling the bishop
  19. Fred Karger and an elephant walk into a bar.. from opposite directions... Mormon Conspiracy!
  20. In any civilization, and in any marriage (before DNA testing of course), the only parent we know for a fact is the parent is the mother. Most husband and wives are faithful, I would even say the vast majority of husband and wives are faithful, but basically we have only their word for it. I'm guessing the whole patrilineal thing came about through divine means because I really don't see how it could sustain itself. Imagine how different life would be if society was matrilineal I want it said for the record that I understand the universe is run by the priesthood and that is patriarchal in nature. I have no problem with it, believing in the theory of 'if it ain't broke don't fix it'.
  21. Emphasis mine. Only a guy would say something like this I always thought polygamy would create a lot more stress on the husband, having to love and cherish and listen to multiple women, all having an equal claim to him. In polyandry it is true the husbands would not necessarily know who begotted what kid, but I see this as a mortal/societal problem (i.e. caveman possessive). Imagine a child raised in a household where he/she is cherished and taught by not one but two or three priesthood holders. What a lucky kid! As for the wife.....married to two or three Brandon Fraser-types doesn't seem like that much of a hardship
  22. Where would they go? Quick question I've wondered....isn't a bonus a reward for profit-making? I know I don't get a bonus unless my factory makes the goals. How can a company that has received billions of dollars and is still in trouble give out bonuses??? So it was in the contract....what makes AIG's contracts so much more special than the ones held by autoworkers for Ford and GM?
  23. The kids should take responsibility for their clothing choices. Yes I know youth is a time of testing boundaries and stuff. Just tell them, 'You wanna push boundaries and be yourself, you can read Karl Marx while staying home'. There should be some places that are safe for the kids. Places where they don't have to worry about what the world thinks. When my daughter is old enough to go to these dances (5 years, heaven help me) she may be wearing black lipstick and goth clothes, but they will be church standards
