  1. Or perhaps the stepfather has expressed a desire to not have it talked about around him? Something I have known of or about since I joined the LDS church at 16 Ben Raines
  2. I am confused. I read the OP's full statement and question and don't understand what the secret about Godhead or Eternal Progression is. Would you please elaborate. Ben Raines

  5. I thought that they were rhetorical questions posted by Snow to get people to think. Did I miss something? To all lets keep the personal attacks out of this thread and others as well. Ben Raines
  6. I see an accusation that the police were looters. Any evidence? How many of the city's police officers were looters? Does one make the Police looters? How about the National Guard? How many of them? Ben Raines
  7. Nilla Vanilla. I have known her almost as long as Pam. Since Pam has been around longer she may have known her longer. Great choice. Ben Raines

  10. Pam, was that back when they went on missions for three years? :) I love the 122 section of the Doctrine and Covenants for these type of situations. Ben Raines
  11. I think I recall that show on Nicolodian or something like that. Something about a guy with a broken sabre? I never missed it. That and Rifleman. It was sad when Chuck Connors played such a bad role in Roots. Ben Raines
  12. Interesting picture. I think I did see Mother Theresa on a piece of burnt toast once too. I like the photo. One thing I like is that it is bigger than the mountain ram. I know nothing of that art form or archeology, wow I even spelled it right, but I do find it interesting. If it were any kind of proof I imagine that it would make bigger news than Coast to Coast. Ben Raines
  13. Manson will never get out. Ben Raines
  14. Definition: Pseudepigrapha (from the Greek: ψευδής, pseudēs, "false" and ἐπιγραφή, epigraphē, "inscription"; see the related epigraphy) are falsely attributed works, texts whose claimed authorship is unfounded; a work, simply, "whose real author attributed it to a figure of the past."[1] For instance, no Hebrew scholars would ascribe the Book of Enoch to Enoch, a character mentioned in Genesis 5, and few Christian scholars would insist today that the Second Epistle of Peter was written by Saint Peter.[2] Nevertheless, in some cases, especially for books belonging to a religious canon, the question of whether a text is pseudepigraphical or not elicits sensations of loyalty and can become a matter of heavy dispute. The authenticity or value of the work itself, which is a separate question for experienced readers, often becomes sentimentally entangled in the association. Though the inherent value of the text may not be called into question, the weight of a revered or even apostolic author lends authority to a text: in Antiquity pseudepigraphy was "an accepted and honored custom practiced by students/admirers of a revered figure".[3] This is the essential motivation for pseudepigraphy in the first place. I don't regularly use Wikipedia but it was handy. Ben Raines
  15. Sorry Snow I didn't realize that you were still posting. I have deleted my post. Ben Raines
  16. I agree Pam. I have always saved lots of money using those coupons. I like the Entertainment book too. Ben Raines
  17. As stated earlier the important sealing is the one to one's own spouse. While there are blessings of being "born under the covenant". The true blessing of sealing is to one's own spouse. Ben Raines
  18. Children do not nor will they need to be baptized as they are unaccountable. Prior to eight years old. If they have not been taught the sins after that age fall on their parents. Temple baptisms are not performed for children under the age of eight. I do not understand the concern that God would call someone back to his presence before the age of eight or a child. I recall in Book of Mormon as men, women and children were being thrown in to the fire Alma would not save them so that they would stand as a testimony against those who did not believe. While how we live in this life matters it is not how long or how short we live in this life that matters. Ben Raines
  19. Hey I am much stronger now at 55 than I have been most of my life. Would challenge most to a leg press contest. I am currently pressing 1,000 pounds. I think that is 2,200 kilos, sounds more impressive. :) Ben (The Old Man) Raines
  20. Welcome to the site and welcome back on your journey. Ben Raines
  21. Wash them with other whites, white towels, white T shirts, etc. Do not wash them with any colored clothes, can we still say "colored clothes". Non whites I mean. If no other non whites then was alone. They will discolor unless you have only nylon. Ben Raines
  22. The LDS church has made preparations to not be affiliated with BSA. This was done several years ago with a concern that BSA may be required to accept homosexual, gay, Scoutmasters. Since this did not happen the LDS church did not have to drop BSA but there is a plan just in case. Ben Raines
  23. I didn't check the article but I believe it was President Kimball who told that story. Ben Raines
  24. I have been involved in Scouting since I was 8 years old. Was not LDS until I was 16. Earned my Eagle Rank with the help of dedicated scout leaders. My parents were busy working six days a week and supported me but were not able to be of much assistance. At 23 I was a Scoutmaster. Later a unit organizer, recruiter, District Commissioner, etc. Have been a Scoutmaster several times and currently serve as an Assistant Scoutmaster. I have never made a dime as a Scouter. I have spent thousands to be involved in Scouting. Boy Scouts of America is a non-profit organization. True there are people that make a living working for BSA. I at one time considered being a professional scouter. There was no money to be made doing it. Would be at poverty level. Scouting is not about the leaders, the volunteers it is about the boys. Teaching themto be leaders, to love the outdoors, to respect others and nature. Parents are the ones who make Eagle Scout rank an idol. "You can't have a drivers license until you are Eagle". "You can't date until you are Eagle" Etc. Etc. I work with young men who are building confidence, leadership skills, outdoor skills, potential career skills or knowledge and understanding. Recently and for years it has been said "Scouting is the activity arm of the Aaronic Priesthood". For those of you who do not know Scouting was created and organized by Lord Baden Powell in the United Kingdom. BSA was modeled after their program. Scouting is worldwide and not just a United States program. Ben Raines
