Scouting callings matter if you have been divorced? I know my father has a mark on his record for something he served time for. So he can never serve in the Primary. This is not marking him. It is not the type of record most seem to be worried about. It is a record of ordinances performed, dates, etc. Not "He and his wife sit in the third row from the back to the right of the Bishop, she keeps giving him back massages and playing with his hair and she clips the children's fingernails during Sacrament meeting". I would say that most who have no money for any kind of medical care in the US have Medicaid, administered by the state that the live in. This is different than Medicare, which is for seniors. My sister in law came to visit us many years ago. She is from Puerto Rico. For those who do not know Puerto Ricans are natural born Americans. No immigration or passport needed. US citizens. While visiting us she had an appendicitis attack. Went to the hospital and had her appendix removed. Since she had no insurance, no ability to pay, etc. Bill was paid by State of California. While it is true that the "records" are kept in SLC and each ward, based on their ward id, is assigned those names residing in their geographical boundries. When someone moves and does not give a forwarding address, usually someone less active, then those records are sent to SLC, to a general account. There are service missionaries who do all they can to find where these people have moved so that their records can be assigned to the ward where they live. This is true of all records. As far as what information is on these records it is a record of ordinances and ordinations. For those who have had a disciplinary action it is a record of the result of that action. In the case of a Stake disciplinary action these records are kept in the stake where they happened. When a person comes back in for reversal of that action the records is sent to where they reside at the time and the Stake President where they reside contacts former Stake President, if possible to get any additional information. It does not show callings held, How many years you were a tithe payor or not. Ben Raines

For a perfect church organization to exist it would have to have only perfect people in it. Since we are all sinners and working towards perfection there will be mistakes made. Not sure there is a lot of software development on the ward level to fight pornography. Is your dad a software programmer? Lots of experience with software programming? There is a whole load of software that has been created to block or report pornography. Ben Raines

I did not read all the posts in this thread but let me ask you this. Just because it can be done does not make it right. Should I buy one copy of Microsoft and then burn copies for all my friends, family and anyone who wants to have one free from Craigslist? How about Microsoft Office? How about one person buying an Xbox game or a Playstation game and then just burning off a million copies and letting anyone have it for free. Just because digital music can be downloaded does not make it right. I have been against illegal downloading since it first started. Call it what you want it is stealing. I have purchased over 350 songs from ITunes. I have over 2,000 on my IPod from CDs that I have owned over the years. I do not steal music and no one who considers themselves honest should. I have been in sales for over 30 years. It is not the product that is the problem it is the way sales people work. All my sales have been commission work over these years. I find out what peoples needs and wants are and then fill those needs or wants. Most car sales people are not that way. I have spent weeks, hour after hour, honing my sales skills to make sure I listen to what the buyer wants and make sure the investment is appropriate to meet their needs and wants. Sales is and can be an honorable profession. Do realize that nothing that is available to you would be available if someone didn't sell someone something. Ben Raines

New converts, this guy, often have a tough time making the transition to LDS beliefs. I have seen some interesting things over the years that new converts and crazy people do in Fast and Testimony meeting. We had one guy who had a beard and brought a staff to church, as if Moses. He was from the Ukraine. Interesting fellow. Most likely, only guessing here, was called to be Ward Missionary to share his recent conversion and due to his enthusiasm for recent membership. I would hope that he teaches with a companion and if he gets off track a companion will correct it and let Bishop know of concerns. As far as past actions I have known of many who had abortions performed, had serious sexual transgressions and converted to the church and became very devout members of LDS faith. A man does not quit loving his wife of years just because she has gone crazy. Trust me on this one. :) Ben Raines

Sounds like something his wife did and not what he did. The father does not have custody at this time but we know nothing of the circumstances other than a news article. My mom taught me to only believe half of what I see and none of what I read. :) Ben Raines
