  1. Ahh, penguins. It seems they also exhibit signs of sadistic senses of humour as shown below
  2. You act more mature than 13? Congratulations, you already act more mature than I do and I'm officially 10 years your senior. Though certain people would argue that men never mature
  3. pam stop ruining it for me! Let's face it though, what percentage of videos on YouTube are a result of having too much time? It's half the fun
  4. I think they pretend to I'll let you know if I experience this mythical thing called growing up personally.
  5. If you get REALLY bored, you could always try the old young mens trick of appending "in the bathtub" to each song title. For instance "abide with me... in the bathtub". You get some pretty amusing results. I was on the young mens presidency when I found out about this one... probably found it more amusing than the young men did. I need to grow up...
  6. I'd be such an evil father... lol
  7. I still cannot think it was actually serious... this is what your post seems to be based on. As far as I can see, he did it for the humour of it and for the media. I doubt very much he thought in his mind that he was taking over a parental role. And I don't know if it's the same in America, but here, the parents cannot just take their kids out of school without a very good reason, and often requires a note from a qualified individual to explain their absence, like a doctor. But as I said, every move he makes will offend someone. He knew this was going to happen before he took office, most likely the backlash he receives about most things just washes off him.
  8. Wow... from the way the note Obama signed was written, I would have said it was in jest - it's not often a child comes in with an absence note from the president. Obama is in a catch 22 situation at all times. Whatever he does, he'll offend someone somewhere, simply because he is the president. That response was highly amplified from what it probably would have been had a 'normal' person done it. Being president unfortunately doesn't mean he isn't human, he'll still make mistakes, as would anyone else. Unfortunately being the president also means he'll be slammed by someone somewhere even when a mistakes hasn't really been made. Whatever he does, whether it be that he had sausages for breakfast (shouldn't he be honouring the beliefs of vegetarians?), killed an insect (oh my gosh, the president took an innocent life!), visited a muslim school (why not a christian school?!), visted a christian school (why not a muslim school?) or signed a note in jest explaining why a child wasn't in school that day, someone won't like it.
  9. Yes unfortunately the church uses windows as a rule. The twitter feed will have been run by marketing, not IT support. So the person in charge of the feed won't be aware of the potential issues and maybe even logged into it on a public computer.
  10. Hmmm... so the account was either really hacked or the church are saying it was hacked to save embarassment? Interesting.
  11. I'm probably not best person to give advice on this as I'm not a parent, but we are still in a recession and I really don't believe now is a good time to be quitting your job without another one to go to. Why do you have to quit before you can look for something else? Your family are also relying on you for income and at the moment this is the only way you can provide it for them. Unfortunately there are many jobs which require long lengths of time away from family, and I agree if you feel that this needs to change. But I really wouldn't just quit... I know of a couple of highly experienced and qualified people who have been out of work for over a year and a half, applying for over 20 jobs a day and rarely receiving even an interview. There is such a high rate of unemployment right now, the competition you'll have to face is not worth the risk. Not right now at any rate.
  12. Lol, I like how he said he was skeptical of twitter, when it was likely the LDS twitter feed administrators fault. He/she probably logged into the account on a computer infected with a keylogger virus. It's becoming increasingly common in recent months - people will them use the "hacked" accounts to send spam.
  13. darn, it wasn't when I signed up lol. Apparently the free version is limited to parts of western europe as well.
  14. I don't use either... I just use spotify. Why pay when you can listen to it for free
  15. Wow... I must be seriously lucky. I've only ever rented one flat (apartment, whatever it's called in America) which is my current one and I don't hear a sound from my neighbours, not even in the evenings or mornings. If I didn't know better, I'd say I was alone here (there are five flats in the building including mine - all occupied). But then there are no students allowed in this building... could be why.

    Fasting, how to

At the times I have fasted, I only did two meals as opposed to 24 hours. I'm under the impression the 24 hours is a misinterpretation, but then I guess it's like tithing - you give whatever you personally feel it means. But that's not the reason I only did two meals, I just cannot operate as normal, cannot think clearly and become drowsy if I do any longer and particularly when I'm at work this is an issue.
  17. More people laughed at than thanked the OP.. I'm not so sure it was
  18. Rule #3: Never be unreachable Oh wait... that is one of Gibbs' rules from NCIS... you meant forum rules. Sorry
  19. Both 1999 and 2006 versions are on there. Interestingly, they have multiple download locations across the globe. The church could theoretically get them to remove it from their US and UK servers, and possibly some of the others, but I doubt all of them due to lack of copyright law in those countries. That's how the pirate bay are still operating after all these years.
  20. There is a copy on wikileaks. I won't post the link because this forum could then be in trouble as it is hosted on an American server.
  21. I believe it depends on where they posted it. If the server was based in a country where that copyright law didn't apply, to my knowledge, no law has been broken. And only a little part of it was posted here, so no law was broken here even by American law.
  22. With endowments, I think it is quite normal to have the bishop attend. My bishop attended mine, but then he was my escort so he didn't have a lot of choice. But as has been said, you don't really need to invite people to come to your endowment, they are effectively public to anyone with a full temple recommend.
  23. I never ever watch TV... except for 24. And NCIS. Not to mention bones. And prison break. Oh, and numbers, CSI miami, CSI NY, The mentalist, Mythbusters, A load of documentaries, BBC news, The simpsons and Family guy. Apart from that, I never watch TV! But seriously, I don't think TV is all that bad. I think it can be quite therapeutic, if I get frustrated by something, watching one episode of the above TV series often puts things into perspective. And contrary to what the above paragraph implies, I don't watch much TV. I have seen all the above TV series, but over several years, I only watch a couple of hours a week max really. Someone in my ward once said "there is absolutely nothing on TV worth watching" during a lesson, I didn't say anything but I completely disagreed with him. There are some very educational things on TV, I gained one of the most important things I've ever learnt from the TV.
