To original Poster of this thread I want to chime in I got this as i have study this many times. First off I want to say that we believe god the eternal father and in his son jesus christ and in the holy ghost. Is Jesus God? Let see here :) I just want to say that john is not the only one who wrote of Jesus.John refers to Jesus as the son of the father many time. We cant use one verse to justify this subject.If you read the whole epistle you will find many references such as this one important one from john. What would you say of this JOhn ch.17 20-21 This is jesus praying for his apostles 20 Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word; 21 That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me. 22 And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one: 23 I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me. 24 Father, I will that they also, whom thou hast given me, be with me where I am; that they may behold my glory, which thou hast given me: for thou lovedst me before the foundation of the world. 25 O righteous Father, the world hath not known thee: but I have known thee, and these have known that thou hast sent me. 26 And I have declared unto them thy name, and will declare it: that the love wherewith thou hast loved me may be in them, and I in them. This is the same man that wrote of the scripture you posted. Remember that you must read the whole epistle of john not a verse. This very clearly states the answer to question you had from john himself. Who do we pray to? Jesus of course as Jesus says in John Chapter 14 13-14 13 And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it. About Thomas Like i said before you cannot use one verse to justify. The lords gospel is so simple if you stated the next two lines to that chapter and verse would get you answer. There is no mystery to this subject but man making mysteries. Here is you answer John ch 20 19-21 20 And when he had so said, he shewed unto them his hands and his side. Then were the disciples glad, when they saw the Lord. 21 Then said Jesus to them again, Peace be unto you: as my Father hath sent me, even so send I you. This is Paul preaching in corinthians. He specifically says in "heaven and earth". I think this pretty much sums your questions up. I just want to add that this is why there is prophets and apostles. Mans wisdom creates these questions and puts mysteries on GOd and Jesus. Prophets and Apostles put this mysteries to rest cause GOd has chosen his prophet and apostles to testify of his true gospel. I want to be my testimony that i know the Jesus is the savior and our lord and that god is the Father of all. That it is through jesus that we get to the father.That i know that joseph smith was chose as moses,amos,john many other prophets were chosen to restore the truth to his children of the world. That the book of mormon is true and testifies of christ and his gospel on this side of the world. That he loves all and would not forget his children in other places. Verse 7 mentions an order... Either Jesus had to fullfill the order as you have said milkbone or he didnt want her to think she was just being illusional or she could say she had a dream of jesus.

I think it is hard with the world portraying the perfect woman...at all times. Turn off the tv and throw away any bad magazine There two things i see here 1)she has lost confidents for some reason and you know where she gets to get it from???him!! this is his time to shine and show her he loves her no matter what. why wont anyone except that polygamy was in the bible. It was a commandment in the bible. It not taught anymore cause we as human beings cannot live it worthly and as the lord says we must obey the law of the land. When polygamy was banned as a nation we banned as a church later. God strictly says one man and one wife unless...key word is unless he commands. Its in the bible. Then there is a stripture about Joseph Smith that says he name will be talked over in the last days. People will distort him. It is true. A prophesy that has come true for a very long time..

I have the perfect example of what they are for. I reading church history book by Brian and Petra Kelly as it is my resource for this. Oliver Cowdery in the beginning of church history was trying to supersede Joseph Smith secretly in his heart. One day Oliver gets a revelation of where to guide the the church. So he tells the congregation of his revelation. Joseph Smith and other men wonder about it after oliver speaks. So all the men go and pray about the revelation. Sure enough the lord comes tells Oliver in front of all of them" Satan has decieved you in regarding direction of my church, as it was not revelation from the lord that I the lord have chosen joseph smith to be revealed unto regarding matters of the church and the direction"(that s not verbatim but a summary of what he said.) Then the lord tells them what Amos told Amaziah. Prophets get revelation regarding church and guide as a whole. Im sure this conference will be great.

I wonder myself but they are there to guide to people of the lords church. Like moses did. but here in the bible it tells of amos here he tells someone that prophets are necessary 7 Surely the Lord God will do nothing, but he brevealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets. Then regarded how they were chosen like moses and especially Joseph Smith. This is Amaziah,servant of a king, telling Amos to stop prophesing Israel. Basically he was chosen just like that. That right there made believe that yes Joseph Smith is a true prophet as well as the ones in ancient times and now.

I apostatized at a young age. I was born into the church but went inactive after my mom passed away. i was 14. I began sin shortly after. i have to put this in there,before the first sin i told myself that i could always repent for my sins,That was the worst thing i could of ever said and done for i truly believe i was cursed and damned from then on. i started forming habits a young man shouldnt at such a young age and no they were not drugs. Well for some reason i didnt care for much for my religion.There was always a voice telling me to repent and pray.Kinda of like a beacon flashing on and off. So in my twenties i did I prayed to god at the time that i would stop being dumb and start living right. So the girlfriend i had at the time i was going to ask to marry me. Of coure i was in sin but like i said i wasnt really caring. I listen to a voice telling me to pray about the girl i was with that if it not be right that i may see this and continue in the right direction.The very next day i caught her with another man. I repented again and went to church. So im clean for a year and things are going well in the singles ward but no catches so i saw this girl and began dating her and i was in sin again. Why?Why? So i begin to wonder why do i commit sin. I thought repentance would fix it. I knew it is cause i dont have much of a testimony and i cared for things of the world. So again this beacon goes off.I have had trouble with sin since i was a kid. So one day (this year) i bow my head down,i have believed in prayer through all my troubles,no matter what i prayed to become righteous,but this time i started my prayer and i felt this spirit in me starting cry out through my mouth,my voice began to shake,my eyes began to water and soon enough i was sobbing to the lord that i was sorry for all the unrighteous i have ever done.That i was sorry i was disobeying his laws and priesthood and i was ungodly.I sorry for ever saying "i could repent later" My soul knew what had caused this! i was praying to a father who had power to do anything.As a prince to his king.It was my soul praying not my mind. I cried as if i lost someone i loved but it was my soul crying to the lord to save me from this awful state of mind i was in. That i was sorry for my thinking and i wish not to be damned anymore and that i may learn truth and uphold righteousness. I cried for minutes as i spoke spiritually which is hard to describe.Prayer(the beacon) worked.It was cause i truely asked with all my heart and not in vain. I really wanted him to hear me and he did. After prayer i felt relieved i felt a spirit. Ever since then i have been reading the bible,book of mormon and Joseph Smith account. I read the anti stuff but i knew i had to read stuff that was true too.As Jesus said if there is evil there is good. Without one there couldnt be the other all would cease to exist. I couldnt be bias.So i began to read church history from the church. Kinda like you wouldn't go to an english teacher to learn mathematics. Same here i wanted the source of history about joseph smith. I have read and realized that joseph just didnt get the plates and poof he was a prophet.He went through alot and years past after certain events. Joseph couldnt attain the plates for 3 years because the angel moroni told him he wasnt ready.He went to the hill and would try to get them but the angel would tell him he wasnt ready. He left and came back a year later and same message. Third time he was able to attain them a year after his second attempt. As i read more history i read an account of Martin Harris. (look on google for more,remember there is always good infor and bad info,good and evil) In short martin harris took some of the characters from the golden plates and took them to professors. Some would say they are not learned(educated enough)to read it. Martin Harris took it to a Dr. Anthon who authenticated the hieroglyphics and ask martin how joseph smith attained the plates. Martin Replied"an angel showed him". The Dr. ask for the certificate and martin harries takes it out of his pocket and gives it to the dr and the Dr. rips it saying that angels do not minister on this earth anymore and to bring the book to him and he will translate it. Martin replies he cannot for it is sealed the doctor replies"i cannot read a sealed book" SO martin goes to another professor who authenticates the heiroglyphics as true too. He comes home to joseph and tells him and joseph smith replied"The prophecy has been fullfilled by isaiah the prophet". Read Isaiah 29 11:14 and read martin harris account of taking the writings(from good sources) Then the spirit came upon me and my prayers were answered.I ask for truth and bam!! My prayers are answered not the next day but couple weeks after i ask for truth. It was then i knew that marvelous work wonder was done by a man God chose. Prophets are essential in his church. As god chose Moses so he did chose Joseph Smith. Amos 3:5 and Amos 7 14-15 regarding how a prophet was chosen. I know this church is true through my accounts and as i read and pray throughout the days i find more and more. That is my testimony. For me i see that the LDS believes in the primitive church as the bible says but as it tells you. We have temples as does the bible. There is so much proof but our sins and satan get in the way of letting the spirit tell us truth. As if our eyes are closed because of i our disbelieve sometimes. Jesus is the head of this church and believe in him as our savior and the founder of the gospel.The gospel of the bible is taught in the book or mormon.Book of Mormon is true. just wanted to put my 2 cents in.

I know where these theories can go as i use to be so into them and infowars.com but you know you ll begin at one point to say i ll just live my life and let what happens happens. I know that FEMA is not good. IT is run by the goverment which is corrupt. President is a puppet and congress is falling apart in honesty and virtue. The constitution has been breaking down since 2001 starting with the patriot act and so forth. You got the AMERO being made and that nafta highway,then you got the north american union being made. but alot of it is exaggerated too so just becareful what you post cause some if it is just created to get you wild up. DO this. Look at all the prophets revelation concerning second coming and you will put that all away.

It is crazy how swell satan has done for people to show such hate to the church. you right that she and many have been taught to hate mormons and so on but yet she loves one.So im going to be a righteous mormon and maybe she will see the true way of the religion. Maybe she wont like you said only god knows. I did wake up this morning and the something popped in my head. I just want to say something here Level of heavens is made so god can be just.Thats my opinion. I dont think you nor i can know the full details to the plan.Only leaders of the church that God whats to know will know but only the prophet can let us know as a whole. Dont be confused. There is nothing to confuse about. Paul says there are bodies celestial,bodies terrestial and there glory is different. Meaning that depending on the life you live you ll get one or the other but I think wants us to strive for the best so he only lets us know how to reach the highest,but if we dont then he has a place to put us that is under what he expected of us.He is bound by his own laws. Regarding Marriage a very important thing is your not only sealed but what seals you is by the proper authority called the Melchizadek Priesthood.You are sealed. Just like Jesus said to Paul"i will give you keys to the kingdom that what you seal on earth you may seal in heaven"Now that has passed onto to Joseph smith by three anges. Elijah is one but i forget the others and they said it would not be taken away from the earth again. Neither the aaronic priesthood. So i think you trying to want to understand you are creating your own confusion therefore creating doubt. At one point you ll have to have faith that the lord will answer you but how can he help you if you don't believe in his gospel.Not all things will be made known to you. Just like Joseph Smith. Alot of thinks werent made known to him till he was baptized and recieved the confirmation of the holy ghost then both priesthoods. Over a period of time. An angel told him to baptize Himself and Oliver cowdrey then confirm the holy ghost upon eachother. Only because two wondered if baptism was a true ordinance which other churches preached it was not. Just faith in christ is all needed. So the two decided to pray to the lord and ask. Well then they recieved an answer.Ehich i just stated. Its not like he was chosen and poof he was a prophet but what im saying is your trying to understand something but like god says he has an order. I would assume so are learning things. I say this. Say you are in the 2nd grade. You think you know more so you want to learn alegbra. But you cant learn it cause the arithmic is confusing but you dont know it cause havent learn how proper procedures and other arithmic to put together to solve the problem. So you go back cause you know you have to learn the arithmic of other levels in order to achieve the proper solution in algebra. Yes we take shortcuts cause we think we know better,but by doing so we miss simple learning and just make things harder for ourselve later. I think it is the same way with learning the gospel.

Mid twenties is our age Like i said she is a sweet girl. She would make a man a very happy husband. She s blinded by many other perceptions When it comes to religion and lds. Man oh man does she change into a tiger. :). I going to monitor my situation but i have a feeling it will come down to breaking up. My cousin married a girl who converted but a couple years later she has gone a stray and now he says that if he knew the outcome he wouldn't of taken the chance but he knows he must love her.In fact i have to cousins and both Return Missionaries. This is what i see is in the way for her She doesnt understand Polygamy,nor the reason for a prophet.She thinks joseph smith is a liar and a fraud and the Book of Mormon was made to back up the religion. Believe me i dont quit easy but im going to see what happens,but it just seems like i already know but then again my wisdom is worth nothing. I really love this girl. So i pray and ask why the division?I love his daughter(god's) so much that i want to return there with her?So i pray to ask that i may make the right decisions in my life that will make her feel the spirit and see the church for what it is?I may do everything but it comes down to her. will she accept the spirit.Like i said i m going to wait it out and see for the next month.I want to take her to general conference in two weeks.She expressed interest in it. Maybe if she could see them talk of jesus in such a spiritual way and give guidance to the church a seed might be planted. So thats whay im going to do.

I ll chime in here.I have been trying my hardest to feel the holy ghost after prayer. I pray alot and lately it has given me some answers. It is not a voice that whispers in your ear literally.Like if i whispered in yours (at least for me). Holy ghost confers truth and lets you feel the spirit of god. That is two different things. After prayer you have to learn to listen to what your soul feels.Pray with all you heart and then after just relax and a still small voice will enter in your head(kinda of like talking to yourself) but you will feel an uplifting spirit and you will know. if an answers feels shaky and doest give that feeling then know it is satan as he has a hand in ruining your life.

I have a feeling we will break up.I have prayed to the lord and i feel that it may be the best choice.I ll give a little while but i have a feeling she will go one way and i the other.I want to become a better person and i cant do that with someone who wont help me and doesn't believe in the book of mormon nor the primitive church that is in the bible. Im studying joseph smith life because i should have some backround on him so i can tell people about him who distort him.especially people interested in the church.Thank you all for you help but i have a feeling a new phase in my life is beginning.I believe it is all cause he has heard my prayers. I thought i could change someone but you cant.She will be who she is.I dont want to gamble with getting married and hoping she will convert.Nor converting and hope she obeys the gospel. i appreciate everyones input. It is great. I never saw the deuteronomy verse before. awesome find I tell you what i do love this girl and im being patient. believe i wont marry until in the temple but im trying to just let her know that her perception is incorrect. Yes you cant make her think like me but i take this as a learning experience. I just know in my heart that there is one missionary or member that needs to just say something that will strike her with the spirit. Like today i went to her church even though i said i wouldn't then we would go to singles ward after that. Well after church the parents wanted to eat...ugh there goes obeying the sabbath day... but the father had a meeting and it was getting later. Church started an hour later but i wanted her to go to class so we opted for our sunday school classes. Every thing seemed like it was taking longer than it should and i really felt that satan was at work. I almost decided to say lets just go home because sunday school was gonna start but i said lets go even if we are late. I knew that by disobeying the sabbath day things would take a turn and it did. I know that this gospel is true and that jesus is our savior. Joseph Smith was a prophet and chosen to do the lords work. Your right, if you believe that Smith was a prophet then everything else falls into place. I should of thought of that. Ohh well thats what you all are for. Lets see what happens this week. great points.. keep em coming. We had a discussion about her being bias toward the negativity. She wont give me a chance but the preacher is some kind of hero or that his wisdom is better. Im taking it one step at a time but she wants to get baptized. This is why i think.. She has never been baptized in a church. She tells me all the time faith in christ is all you need and she is saved.For quiet a while and it leads to typical argument. So i go to her church in the morning this past week,mine started at 1pm. So im listening to the pastor and out of nowhere they use big words and raise there voice then all the sudden he says"you dont have be baptized to go to heaven". I looked at her and i was determined to find the verse. So later on i tell her that it bothered me what her pastor said. She thinks every word is to convert her but i tell her"your pastor is wrong about not being baptized" she tells me no and i said"is your pastor words greater than Jesus's words" she says no and i say listen to this scripture in the bible. I then quoted john3:5.I told her pastor had no right to says such thing when the our lord and savior instructs what to do. Couple days later she wants to be baptized. Into the church that says you dont have too and im the one teaching her things in the bible. It gets frustrating but im letting the lord help be patient or basically letting me get through this if we are together or not. I just dont understand. polygamy is another thing She says that Joseph Smith is basically a man whore. Any one got some good advice on that subject. Ive tryed but i think i need more info on it to teach some one who doesnt know about it. I told that she is eating meat before learning to drink milk.(Anyone know what verse that is in the scriptures about eating meat before drinking milk. Jesus talking about gospel ordinances.)
