  1. They probably feel they are taking advantage of you because of it. Or feel uncomfortable about accepting stuff from you. Maybe they feel that you probably can't afford it or something or your on hard times. (despite your circumstances, even if you are doing well, single moms are generally seen as being on hard times.)
  2. So what if the lord gives you a "No, not now I'll tell you later." kind of thing. Or you simply don't recieve an answer for that very reason?
  3. People will take up the sword one against another. I fully beleive that reports weren't as accurate, that is to say, 100's of years ago. 50 years ago, i would call them accurate. Regardless, the insane amount of earthquakes and hurricanes is staggering. How many did we have in the past FEW WEEKS. Every week i was hearing of not one earthquake somewhere but SEVERAL. They HAVE to be increasing, i don't recall in recent years the absurd amount of earthquakes, and most of all, the size of the earthquakes. These ARE signs of the lord's coming.
  4. I don't worry about it. My head would explode if I did. I think the only thing we need to really worry about is returning to him. At that point we could truly find out from him, what happened, among other things. And potential for learning other things is vast. But for now, I personally won't worry on it too much, because it doesn't pertain to my salvation.
  5. Everyone should remember the millenium as well. Righteous saints will be resurrected! Those who were not married, I am under the assumption, they'll have ample opportunity to marry. If I don't get married now, maybe I can get some 1800's babe or something. Edit: I really need to read whole threads before i post. hahahah
  6. For me its not a matter of confirming beleifs, but confirming truth. I know its true, and i could list off a ton of things I know are true. I could also list off a ton of things I beleive. There is truth amongst all religions.
  7. i have a theory, and its nothing delving into deep doctrine, just an impression I had as I was reading through Exodus and the account of Pharaoh's hard heartedness (and headedness) in letting the Israelites go. My theory has several facets: 1. Miracles are shown only to those who beleive. I think that Pharaoh, to a degree, beleived in God. 2. I beleive he made a covenant, or an agreement with God to let the people go, and let them worship God. 3. When Pharaoh saw that things weren't getting done, he got angry, and needed them back. Or so he thought. Because he wouldn't let them go, I beleive he was breaking his agreement with God, which would justify the fact that he was inundated with plagues. His stupidity in chasing them down (probably either to kill or round them back up to go work for him still) was probably the last straw. This is just a strong idea I had while reading through it, if anyone else here knows anything else to back this up, or even to refute it, I would greatly appreciate it.
  8. The Holy Ghost is a spirit, and can thereby influence us (remember we choose whether or not to heed that influence.) So, Satan is also a spirit and can do the same (and he has a few freinds to help him as well.) The actual means of it? I don't know. Everyone knows and feels certain temptations. I think it might be as simple as suggestions or deception. Whisper into our ears, or the devil on the shoulder analogy. The spirits are wandering this earth, we just can't see them. So reason would suggest that their spirit can talk to us. It's not audible, its a spirit voice (not the same spirit voice people use in testimony meeting.) My theory is, (emphasis on theory) the spirit we have now that is housed inside a body can hear those whispers.
  9. Oh no! the church isn't true anymore! Don't let the anti's get ahold of this one! /sarcasm No, i was just curious why it wasn't corrected yet.
  10. Here's the rules according to DandC to tell if its a real angelic administration. A lot of people would gain a lot of benefit from reading this. (Especially korihor, an ANGEL told you there was no God? Really now?) Among others. "SECTION 129 Instructions given by Joseph Smith the Prophet, at Nauvoo, Illinois, February 9, 1843, making known three grand keys by which the correct nature of ministering angels and spirits may be distinguished. HC 5: 267. 1–3, There are both resurrected and spirit bodies in heaven; 4–9, Keys are given whereby messengers from beyond the veil may be identified. 1 THERE are two kinds of beings in aheaven, namely: bAngels, who are cresurrected personages, having dbodies of flesh and bones— 2 For instance, Jesus said: Handle me and see, for a spirit hath not aflesh and bones, as ye see me have. 3 Secondly: the aspirits of bjust men made cperfect, they who are not resurrected, but inherit the same glory. 4 When a messenger comes saying he has a message from God, offer him your hand and request him to shake hands with you. 5 If he be an angel he will do so, and you will feel his hand. 6 If he be the spirit of a just man made perfect he will come in his glory; for that is the only way he can appear— 7 Ask him to shake hands with you, but he will not move, because it is contrary to the aorder of heaven for a just man to bdeceive; but he will still deliver his message. 8 If it be the adevil as an angel of light, when you ask him to shake hands he will offer you his hand, and you will not bfeel anything; you may therefore detect him. 9 These are three grand akeys whereby you may kno"w whether any administration is from God.

  12. I stand corrected. Why is this left in the Doctrine and Covenants then? Is there a clarifying passage or cross reference?
  13. "D&C 130: 22 22 The Father has a body of flesh and bones as tangible as man’s; the Son also; but the Holy Ghost has not a body of flesh and bones, but is a personage of Spirit. Were it not so, the Holy Ghost could not dwell in us." Yes, it does influence us, but it also has to dwell IN us from time to time, I guess.
  14. "There is some widely accepted theory extant that homosexuality is inherited. How can this be? No scientific evidence demonstrates absolutely that this is so. Besides, if it were so, it would frustrate the whole plan of mortal happiness. Our designation as men or women began before this world was. In contrast to the socially accepted doctrine that homosexuality is inborn, a number of respectable authorities contend that homosexuality is not acquired by birth. " Then heres the best part. "The false belief of inborn sexual orientation denies to repentant souls the opportunity to change and will ultimately lead to discouragement, disappointment, and despair." -James E. Faust Now i know you didn't mention the beleif of feeling like you were born with it. But from what i read and understood on a few things is you imply that a homosexual has absolutely not choice in the matter (which is why i posted that quote because it still applies.) "The person you describe is bi-sexual, not homosexual. People who are bi-sexual are able to make a choice to remain homosexual or heterosexual. But a person who is truly homosexal cannot." Again, theres always a choice. I beleive for one who claims to be homosexual is one who has the strongest SSA. I don't know for certain, but its a theory. I was afraid to post more on the subject because i've already said a lot.... blehh... this is probably one of the last things i'll post in this topic.
  15. I simply don't think it would be fair. If we have an influence for good, without another influence, there really isn't a choice because there is only one influence. So Satan's influence is a necessary counterbalance to Gods, that we can be influenced in an equal manner, and thus be judged fairly for our actions.
  16. *raises hand nervously* I swear occasionally. Usually only in anger (which is generally when the technology own doesn't work, or at traffic)
  17. You choose to be offended. I do need to read statements made by church leaders. That was my opinion, and my understanding of things. I obviously don't know everything. If you could post the list of every link or whatever, i and others, may find that very useful. :)
  18. I myself have been having nightmares the past week. They get real bad when I wake up and feel like I can't move. It's rather creepy. Everything is loud all of a sudden. My roommate was up late and the noise was really loud and I was awake and frozen in bed. I feel great fear. It's really really weird and disturbing actually.
  19. Theres a little book called Jay's Journal. It will disturb you. AS far as I know it is not fiction. Scratch that, i guess it's BS, and was changed. Amazon.com: Jay's Journal (9780671735593): Beatrice Sparks: Books Nevertheless, it was still quite and unsettling read when i read it in high school.
  20. I beleive that scripture in Alma refers to not mixing with the lamanites, not because of their skin (although they were cursed so the nephites wouldn't mix with them, that being the obvious thing to look for) but because of the traditions, the false traditions they carried. We can all see that marrying anyone, of any race, with terrible traditions, and consistent bad choices can effect us, and our decisions. I don't want to marry an abusive woman by any means. Or one who drinks or smokes. It doesn't set a good precedent for a family. Another example, King Solomon. (now I don't want to go into a discussion about plural marriage only point out a fact) Solomon was seen as wicked taking on extra wives. Why? Because he married Canaanites. Why was that bad? They worshipped false gods, and the Idol worship was a terrible thing the Lord didn't want among his servants (it had been rampant through israelite history) I beleive near the end of Solomon's life, he was sending his children through the fire, in sacrifice for the false God, Molech. Among others, because of the influence of his wives. Someone correct me anywhere I'm wrong, i often am.
  21. I second this statement! And add a scripture to it! Mormon 9:4 " 4 Behold, I say unto you that ye would be more miserable to dwell with a holy and just God, under a consciousness of your filthiness before him, than ye would to dwell with the damned souls in hell." The kingdom you arrive in is the place for your maximum happiness, according to the decisions you made in this life.
  22. D&C 43: 25 25 How oft have I acalled upon you by the mouth of my bservants, and by the cministering of angels, and by mine own voice, and by the voice of dthunderings, and by the voice of lightnings, and by the voice of tempests, and by the voice of earthquakes, and great hailstorms, and by the voice of efamines and pestilences of every kind, and by the great sound of a ftrump, and by the voice of judgment, and by the voice of gmercy all the day long, and by the voice of glory and honor and the hriches of eternal life, and would have saved you with an ieverlasting salvation, but ye would not! D&C 45: 33 33 And there shall be aearthquakes also in divers places, and many desolations; yet men will harden their hearts against me, and they will take up the bsword, one against another, and they will kill one another.
  23. 2 Nephi 9:13-14 " 13 O how great the aplan of our God! For on the other hand, the paradise of God must deliver up the spirits of the righteous, and the grave deliver up the body of the righteous; and the spirit and the body is restored to itself again, and all men become incorruptible, and immortal, and they are living souls, having a perfect fknowledge like unto us in the flesh, save it be that our knowledge shall be perfect. 14 Wherefore, we shall have a perfect bknowledge of all our guilt, and our uncleanness, and our nakedness; and the righteous shall have a perfect knowledge of their enjoyment, and their righteousness, being clothed with purity, yea, even with the robe of righteousness." You may not know whats happening right now, but in the day of ressurection and judgment, you will know. You will know what you repented of, and know what you did wrong, and when you are sent to your designated kingdom, you will know exactly why and accept it. I guess I wasn't too clear on it before.
