  1. I was referring to the friend. Accidentally said "they".
  2. I'd recommend they read Book of Mormon Authorship. Its really good. It goes into detail about many different things in the Book of Mormon that verify it to be ancient scripture.
  3. In short: its better to die and be on God's good side than to live and be on God's bad side.
  4. Yea, that's the language I've heard he spoke too but I mean he is the Son of God so there's no reason he can't speak any language.
  5. Mark 13:32 But of that day and that hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father. That's pretty much how I feel. Nobody, including Jesus Christ, the Son, knows when the 2nd Coming will happen except the God the Father. If the world ended because that's the last day on the Mayan calendar then going by our calendars here in the US the world would end once every year.
  6. Yes, you're taking sides. You're taking your sister's side. They're both adults or at least of adult age so just staying out of it is the best thing you can do. But you're married to your husband, not your sister (lol).
  7. Not exactly. The Book of Abraham has more authenticity than people think. For one, the facsimiles' images are symbols, not actual representations. If you draw a stick person and say that's you its not really a picture of you, but a symbol. Luke 16:19 There was a certain rich man, which was clothed in purple and fine linen, and fared sumptuously every day: 20 And there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, which was laid at his gate, full of sores, 21 And desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man’s table: moreover the dogs came and licked his sores. 22 And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham’s bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried; 23 And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom. 24 And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame. 25 But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented. You're probably wondering what this has to do with anything. The image people attribute the symbol of Abraham to is said to be Osiris. In Egyptology, Osiris is referred to as the God of the underworld and the dead. In Luke 16:19-25 we actually see a parable that's very similar to how Abraham is portrayed in Facsimiles 1 & 3. He's symbolized by the image of Osiris. In the parable in Luke 16, Abraham is actually playing the role that Osiris would be doing, being over the underworld and death. Thus, in Luke, to be specific a parable given by Jesus Christ, Abraham is being attributed to the role Osiris has in Egyptology just like Abraham is attributed to the image of Osiris in the Facsimiles. Apocalypse of Abraham: 11. And the angel said to me, "Abraham!" And I said, "Here am I." And he said, "Slaughter all these animals, and divide them into halves, the one against the other, but do not sever the birds. And give these to the men (i.e. angels) whom I will show you, standing by you, for these are the altar upon the Mountain, to offer a sacrifice to the Eternal but the turtle dove and the pigeon give to me, for I will ascend upon the wings of the bird, so that you may be able to see in heaven, and upon earth, and in the sea, and in the abyss, and in the under-world, and in the Garden of Eden, and in its rivers, and in the fullness of the whole world and its circle - you shall gaze into them all." Compare that to Facsimile 2 that has Abraham seeing the creations.
  8. Although the manuscripts of the Hebrew are where the Old Testament of the Bible comes from, which do you think is more accurate between the Old Testament and the Septuagint? Simply because Jesus and the apostles quoted the Septuagint that's the one I think is more accurate.
  9. Did Christ call every follower in the New Testament to be an apostle?
  10. Yea, the Portland temple is the background on our computer. I've heard lots of positive things about the beauty of Portland and I'm looking forward to seeing it.
  11. If anyone that sees this actually lives where I'm going please let me know. Just curious. :)
  12. I got my mission call today!!! I'm going to PORTLAND, OREGON. I report to the Provo MTC October 26. I'm SOOOO EXCITED!!!!! Looking forward to serving the LORD!
  13. I checked back at the chapter and verse 12 actually provides the context for verse 18. 12 But little children are alive in Christ, even from the foundation of the world; if not so, God is a partial God, and also a changeable God, and a respecter to persons; for how many little children have died without baptism! So again, its about God not contradicting Himself.
  14. Never in person, only online. Youtube, facebook, etc. "You're going to Hell!" "LDS means Lucifer's Demonic Servants" "Mormons worship Satan" and then "I can say this because I'm a Christian". Yea, like those people can legitimately call themselves Christians.
  15. At least it won't take long to roast marshmallows. lol
  16. Although I can provide evidence for the Book of Mormon, and a lot of it, I ask these questions to those who say they want evidence for it: Why do you believe in the Bible, because of faith or evidence? If evidence for it didn't exist would you still believe in it? Yes, I have done research for a lot of the stuff in the Book of Mormon but its because of my faith that I know its true. I was born into the church and ever since I can remember I've always known the Book of Mormon is true. I just like looking things up for fun because even though the Book of Mormon is 100% spiritual its still historical and I like history. :)
  17. This verse refers to contradiction, not God's being. God won't contradict Himself. Moroni 8 speaks of how baptism of infants is wrong. Then in verse 18 it says God is unchangeable from all eternity to eternity. In other words God won't say baptizing infants is wrong and then turn around and say baptizing infants is ok.
  18. I have a book called Principles of the Gospel; no I don't mean Gospel Principles. Those are two totally different books. McConkie was rather harsh about it in Mormon Doctrine, which I have the 2nd edition, but Principles of the Gospel really helps with this issue. Although we're to multiply and replenish the earth, it also says that the welfare of the wife is the most important thing for a husband. If the woman's health is an issue then there's no problem with it. The book I'm talking about is really good. It goes into some good detail about many different things.
  19. It sounds like it was a believing issue. The disciples did say they were baptized unto John's baptism but like Paul said, John baptized unto repentance. It sounds like when the disciples were baptized by John they didn't didn't believe, they just did it.
  20. Hello. Welcome to the forum and nice to meet you.
