  1. I didn't say they were here solely for the use of humans. Please read before hitting the reply button.
  2. LDS believe that God gave Man dominion and stewardship over the animals of the earth. They are put here on earth for our use, as food and as companions. They are not our equals, though. Since we have stewardship over them we have a responsibility to do what we can to treat them with respect and not cause them to suffer needlessly. If your pet is suffering to the point where medications or artificial means are being used to keep it alive, then what quality of life are you giving it? If you were the pet, would you want to be kept alive merely for the sake of being alive? Does it serve any real purpose to keep this particular pet alive? I know what my answer would be, but that's a decision you as the steward over that animal have to make for your situation.
  3. Feel free to ask for advice in the advice section.
  4. Well, additional blessings may occur as needed or wanted, but an anointing is only needed once for that incident.
  5. I'm closing this. If you want to discuss things nicely, you can start a new thread. It would behoove new members of the site especially to read the rules before posting.
  6. It's part of becoming a nanny state. The state knows better than the parents what is best for their kids.
  7. Since public schools receive a large portion of their funding from various governmententities, I can see how the government can require school employees to show proof of immunizations. Utah does allow for students to not be immunized for religious or personal reasons and still go to school, but the law gives the government the right to bar those students from attending in situations where there may be risk of the students either spreading or contracting dangerous infectious diseases. I am of the opinion that if a school employee chooses to not be immunized for whatever reason, then they should not ask for compensation from the school when the school keeps them from going to work in the name of the health and safety of the students or the employee.
  8. Careful, we don't want to have to move this thread to the Open Forum.
  9. Father's blessings do not usually involve the use of consecrated oil. Additionally, anointing with consecrated oil does not need to be re-performed if done for the same affliction. One anointing is generally sufficient for that specific malady or episode, even if days or weeks have passed between blessings.
  10. That's what you say NOW. I noticed she has the Spock Manipulation Grip on the other shoulder. Beefche also obviously has your right hand in hers, indicating she can easily pull it behind your back in a classic police submission hold. This picture subliminally tells us that you are not going anywhere without her permission.
  11. This is completely false. The LDS Church does not ask members about their finances or debts before issuing temple recommends, whether it be for marriage or participating in other ordinances. The only question they ask is if you are behind on child support or alimony.
  12. How about being a good example by attending the meetings you know you are supposed to attend?
  13. Fair enough. Now, what are you doing to help her gain a testimony of the gospel and its leaders?
  14. I think you need to figure out what you believe in. Do you have a testimony of the gospel, or do you just have a testimony of your old ward which is now suddenly not the same? What, exactly, bothers you so much about your new ward that makes you think that your leaders are not men of God? Have you taken any positive steps to resolve those feelings?
  15. Water. Ice cold, and purified.
  16. Since this is the introduction section, you can introduce yourself here. If you want advice, you can explain your problem in the advice section.
  17. So act interested during boring meetings. If there is a discussion, contribute to it. Be engaged, and engaging. Sometimes you have to pretend you're having a good time and that it's interesting. Go take courses on how to improve your personality and relationships with those around you. CEOs are people too. They have their ups and downs, and sometimes look at people differently depending on their mood, not based in how a person does their job. It's okay. Not every employee pleases the boss every minute of every day. But if you're competent, do a good job, and earn praise from your superiors, chances are he knows how valuable you are. Unless your bosses are tossing you under the bus, in which case you will soon be out of a job. But who wants to work for people like that anyway?
  18. Packer was on one recent episode, I don't think he'll be a regular. Will Farrell will be taking over as boss in two weeks, and I'm interested in how he does.
  19. Okay folks, let's play nice.
  20. I love that show. I hope it continues to be funny after Steve Carell leaves.
  21. See, MM? Three great ideas on how to deal with this right there.
  22. Except Dwight. The magic beans were hilarious too.
  23. Not yet, but the wheels of justice roll slowly on cases like this. Besides, if a guy driving under the influence can jump a curb and hit a dance instructor messing her up to the point that she will probably never dance again, the day after he appeared in court for DUI can walk away with probation, I'm figuring you have to do something pretty bad to actually go to jail in Utah. Sorry for the run-on sentence, but I didn't want to stop. And yes, MM, I'm messing with you. I say don't take things so personal. Unless he is specifically singling you out and no one else, I wouldn't worry too much about it. Do your job the best you can, treat him with the respect a man in his position deserves, and work on maintaining a sense of humor about things. If you don't enjoy your job or your work environment, then maybe it's time for a change.
