  1. He can't help it if astrologists don't know how to adjust to his superior timing.
  2. On the bright side, Chuck Norris is still alive and making sure the earth's rotation remains relatively constant.
  3. Yep, and the episode was ended pretty quickly once it was pointed out that there was no point to it.
  4. People have been asking that question for generations. The question you should be asking is: What are you doing to prepare yourself spiritually to be strong enough to go through these trying times?
  5. I think we're done here.
  6. And if anyone pays attention, they would hear Glenn Beck telling them that gold is not the right investment idea for everyone. He insists that you investigate as to whether it is right for you, and if you choose to buy gold, to then he recommends going through a certain company.
  7. Since you don't listen to him, how do you know how often he talks about those things? Do you hire someone to listen and count the times he talks about them? Or are you just tossing out wild numbers in an attempt to denigrate someone whom you disagree with politically?
  8. Yeah, and we all know that no liberal talking head ever acts like that. Right?
  9. Welcome to the site. I hope you stay and enjoy yourself here.
  10. SL Trib is reporting that the fire is not considered suspicious, and that a security guard disabled the alarm about an hour before the fire broke out. The alarm had gone off, and he had contacted the building coordinator, who told him that false alarms occur quite often. The guard checked the property out, found no problems, and disabled the alarm. Employees from a nearby business called the fire in later when they saw the flames and smoke. I would imagine the security guard and the coordinator feel pretty low about this.
  11. Let's be careful to tread lightly on this thread. Glenn Beck threads have a way of turning normally nice people into ogres.
  12. And this has something to do with the story about a missionary shot and killed........ how?
  13. Not often I get to a thread before Pam.
  14. I honestly don't see it happening unless either PH/RS or SS becomes deemed unnecessary. At this point in time, I think both programs do a lot of good and great gospel teaching when implemented correctly. There is a lot of great information included in Gospel Doctrine and also great information, but of a different sort, in PH/RS. right now that the members of the Church need to universally know. And is it really so hard to devote 3 hours of your life to learning about the gospel? Personally, if anything could be trimmed for time, I would suggest cutting sacrament down. Do the sacrament, have a youth speaker, and then one 10-15 minute adult speaker and say a closing prayer. You could be done in 40 minutes easy. But I think the other instructional meetings should still be an hour including break times and opening exercises.
  15. I would go with the sure thing, the job transfer. Then you can check for job openings in the teaching field when you get settled or as they become available. I would advise against leaving a good job without the promise of getting another pretty quickly unless you can afford to be jobless for a long period of time.
  16. I generally advise checking for breathing and a pulse, but that's just me. Odds are if you don't have either one of those, the outcome is likely to end up negatively for the patient.
  17. Confession to the bishop is confidential, if you are worried about your parents finding out you can discuss that with him. Becoming clean before the Lord should be more important than worrying if others find out that you have sinned.
  18. No, you're still here. Your other post is gone though.
  19. Uh..... about 95% of the internet? My kids get indoctrinated at school. Many times I have to remind them that teachers are not always right, especially when it comes to pushing ideologies or theories.
  20. It also won't happen at MSNBC as long as Olbermann and Maddow are employed there.
  21. In your opinion. Others who lean different directions will disagree with you.
  22. To add to what Dravin said, a good server in a midpriced restaurant waiting 4-6 tables efficiently can easily make over $20/hr. on average by my rough calculations. If I go to a steakhouse and the bill comes to $75 for my family and I tip 20%, that's a $15 tip. Multiply that by merely 4 tables with a turnaround time of an hour including cleanup between customers, and that's $60/hr. Even if the wait staff is splitting tips with cooks and bussers, it's a decent wage.
  23. Same to ya.
  24. Yeah, ever since HG lost his remote he's been forced to watch MSNBC 24/7/365. Poor guy. On the bright, side, they have so few viewers that they send out personally signed Holiday Cards (can't call them Christmas or Hannukah cards, that would imply religious overtones) to all 296 of them. Olbermannn even signed this years card twice accidentally (something tickling his pants leg, or so I hear) so now it's worth $1.50 at auction. Seriously, I don't watch any national news station for more than about 5 minutes at a time. They all put their own spins on the news by the way they either comment or not comment on the stories they cover, and very little of it is an accurate representation of what is going on. I watch my local news, mainly because they only have 1/2 hour to do it, so they need to state the facts and move on to the next story without telling me how they think I should think about it. I get most of my news from various aggregators on the internet. I visit five or six different sites and get a pretty good picture of what is going on while still allowing myself to do my own thinking about them. I just have to remember that each source has their own slant, and once I understand what they want me to think, then I can get past that and glean what I need to know from what they are reporting on.
  25. I usually tip 15-20% depending on my dining experience. If a waitperson is struggling, I am more understanding if I know they are new to the job. If they totally ignore me, it shows in how much I tip. I am not a demanding customer, but if I have to wait 10-15 minutes after my refillable drink is empty to be refilled, it will show up on the tip line. My time is just as valuable as the restaurant's and the wait staff's. If they treat me reasonably well, I will tip reasonably well. Great service is rewarded, and wait staff that goes out of their way to make my dining experience better than expected will see my appreciation for their effort in the tip. I rarely put money in the tip jar. I don't like the staff at a fast food restaurant to be begging me for more when I have already paid too much for their high-calorie, low quality food. My wife on the other hand, has a friend whom I cringe when I hear that we have to go out with her and her husband. She always complains about the dish or the way it was prepared, many times sending it back for something different when she did not realize that it did not taste the way she expected it to. I think she does this in an effort to get the meal free, and it probably works at some places. She constantly bothers the wait staff, asking for extras and things that do not normally come with their meal, and not expecting to pay for those extras. They rarely tip, and if they do, it will be maybe a dollar or two, the cost of the meal or the hassling they gave the wait staff notwithstanding. I usually end up giving a larger tip on my bill just to make up for what these people put the staff through for nothing or very little.
