I believe most seminary principals teach as well as oversee the administration in that particular seminary building. Unless it is a large school and he has enough administration work to keep him busy all day every day.

You mean hockey players don't celebrate when they win? I didn't know that. Apparently the ones I have seen drinking alcohol (I assume) from Lord Stanley's Cup are poor sports and will get punished for doing it? Hmmmmmm.

Who do you recommend to pay the pensions of all those people retiring 15-20 years earlier than the government planned? Social Security tells me I should wait until 70 to retire if I want my full benefits.

I'm not a big fan of those sports. Sometimes I will watch a boxing match if it involves a top fighter. I don't have a problem with boxing as a sport when it is regulated properly and corruption is not involved. MMA is slightly confusing to me, I don't care to watch it for very long, probably because I don't understand the rules. My impressions of Ultimate Fighting is that from an outsider's perspective, it seems brutish. The promoters seem to appeal to the violent and bloody aspects of the fighting, when that may not actually be the draw of a true fan of the sport. I sometimes wonder if, as a society, we are not slowly going the way of the ancient Romans, and that the ultimate end is gladiator-style fights to the death against other men or animals.

You can mention BYU. You just don't have to be a jerk.

Sounds like someone got the hook from the apologetics board.

Depending on where you live, there may be ward near you that meets in the 1-4PM block. If that is the case, you may be able to catch an hour or so after work if you hurry. I would suggest that you meet with your bishop and explain to him your situation, and request that you receive good home teachers who will visit regularly.

Whether they have beards or not does not matter. Their representatives here on earth, who receive revelation from them, have declared the current standards. The question is, are we going to listen to Christ's representatives and comply or kick against the pricks because we think we know better than they do?

Saw the originals, saw the later version. Despite the intervening years, the quality of the movies didn't improve. I'm not sure what that has to do with the topic, though.

And yet, you weren't even hesitant to toss the bomb out there, were you? I'll say it again: the LDS Church does not knowingly accept tithes on gambling or lottery winnings.
-
Living in Utah, you should know the answer. In cases where it is proven the money came as a result of illegal activity, the Church returns the money to the proper authorities. There have been a few cases of this happening in the past, some of them being in the hundreds of thousands.

I personally would be fine with a scholarship derived from lottery funds. I think the Church would be as well. The church does not knowingly accept tithes or donations from the proceeds of gambling or lottery winnings. The difference between an education system funded by lottery losers and a person winning the lottery is that the person had to purchase a ticket to win. A scholarship recipient does not have to buy a lottery ticket to win a scholarship. You are not gambling to get the scholarship, the lottery winner is gambling that they will get the winning ticket.

We are to be the light of the world, obedient to the Lord's servants, and conforming ourselves to the way Christ would want us to be. Being clean-shaven is among the least of what a missionary will be asked to do. How about teaching, preaching, and testifying of the importance of being obedient and following Christ and His anointed leaders?

If I were you I would research whether or not you believe the LDS Church is true or not before worrying about whether you want to serve the Lord on a mission. If you don't believe the Church is true there is no reason to be baptized, and that pretty much makes a mission a moot point. Please, please don't get baptized just because your girlfriend wants you to.

Yes, the opponents are not so tough the first couple years, but football schedules are made 4, 5, and more years out. There simply were not very many teams who could break previous commitments and schedule BYU to play them for a while. It will get better. Besides that, you need pushover teams to play a few times a year anyway. There are reasons why Utah State plays at least one or two big name schools, the main one being that those schools need to play 'easy' games to work out the kinks in their system and sort out problems while still getting a win that counts toward bowl eligibility. When Utah State starts beating those teams, you will see those teams taking them off their schedules. BYU had that problem for a while when they became a team on the rise. Big names didn't want to play them because they didn't want to lose to a perceived lower-echelon team. Now that they have proven themselves over the years, it has become easier to get people to answer the phones at those schools, even though it probably is still a problem in some places. Sometimes they want to play you, but only at their house. They know they have a better chance of beating you if they always play you at home. They don't want to be embarrassed by losing to a perceived lower team at their place. Once you elevate your perceived level to be close to par with them, then they don't mind so much the possibility of losing to you once in a while, because it won't kill them in the polls. BYU is reaching that level where the big teams don't mind so much the possibility of losing to them, because BYU is respected and perceived to be rising to their level.

Why haven't I got a better laughs/post ratio??

Or, you could be the one taking this all too seriously, and we're the ones in on the joke. -
You misunderstood me. The Book of Mormon is the most correct book on earth. The discussion took place on Sunday.

I'm not sure I understand your thinking. What do you think the MWC realistically could have offered either Utah or BYU to stay? Although you say you blame both schools for this, you seem to hold more anger at BYU for choosing to go independent. What did you expect them to do once the only reason for them to stay in the MWC disappeared?

I have a S&W 629 .44mag with 8" barrel. I need to get out and shoot it more often.

So, you forgot to tell us: which team do you root for Dash?
