  1. But since the garbage truck doesn't come until Friday, you may want to delay that until Thursday night. Just a thought. And since you already have your mower out, I can give you my address and you can give service to 2 people on Saturday. Think of all the blessings you will receive from that.
  2. My bishop does not attend YM/YW midweek meeting, he has two counselors, one or both of whom attend opening exercises and make sure things are running as they should. There is also a YM president and Priests Quorum Advisor who handle activities for Priests.
  3. Welcome to the site.
  4. I don't know the numbers, but I highly doubt BYU athletics are supported by tithing funds. It seems to me they are more likely mainly supported by donations, gate receipts, and television/radio income and advertising. I do see this as tied to the University of Utah, but not how Utah fans think it is. I think it is clear that BYU has been unhappy with their situation for years, especially their exposure and monetary income from the ill-conceived mtn. TV channel. I think the only reason BYU stayed in the MWC and did not make big waves about it before was their old friend, competitor, and rival, Utah. They figured that as long as Utah was there, they were going to make the situation work. When Utah bolted and left the MWC, BYU looked around and realized that there was no logical reason for them to stick around. The money situation wasn't going to get better, and the bottom-feeders of the league were not going to get better soon enough to convince the BCS to make the MWC an automatic qualifying conference. So they decided to take control of their own fate as waiting for the MWC to fight for them had not worked so far. ESPN, from the scant reports I have seen, has agreed to pay BYU approximately 4 times what they got from the crappy mtn. channel, with some nice concessions. ESPN has the broadcast rights to every game BYU is designated the home team, with at least 3 of those on ESPN, ESPN2, or ABC, and one on ESPNU, every year. IF ESPN chooses not to broadcast a game, BYU retains all broadcast rights to that game, and can shop it to anyone willing to pay for it. BYU also has the rights to rebroadcast games previously shown on ESPN as early as the same day they are played. These things allow BYU to maximize their broadcast earning potential. If they broadcast games on one of the BYUTV stations, they can reach around the globe with exposure. I was reading something the other day that said that BYUTV is one of the most popular satellite channels in Asia. BYU soccer games could be seen from Brazil to Ireland, to China. It's a big gamble, but if it works, it could pay off big as well.
  5. hiya, I'm not new to this;)
  6. If the bishop has been informed, then the matter is out of your hands. Take the sacrament, even if they may be unworthy to administer it, the power of the atonement is still contained therein. You will still receive the renewal of covenants in full.
  7. I understand the weather is supposed to be perfect for the occasion.
  8. Duh. Lift with your legs, not with your back. I just can't imagine an officiator forcing a person to continue over protests of possible injury.
  9. I'm guessing that 'changing his lifestyle' probably includes engaging in activities not approved by the church anyway.
  10. I looked at him. 287lbs. Now you can stop wondering.
  11. He claims this. I have my doubts as to the veracity and accuracy of his claims.
  12. Wrong. Sometimes people with loose lips forget they have responsibilities towards confidentiality. The problem is with that single person, not bishops or bishoprics in general.
  13. David Osmond, a nephew of Donny and Marie, was on American Idol before he got sick and dropped out. He just released a new album which I understand is very good and uplifting.
  14. I've noticed that people who drive Dodge trucks automatically go into 'drive like a jerk' mode when they get behind the wheel. Their favorite move is to tailgate you, then pull around and cut you off right before taking an exit.
  15. Just don't try to tell us that Dodge Neons are the fastest cars in the world.

    Making out

Are you asking to see how far you can go before getting church leaders involved, or just out of curiosity? Your profile says you are 30 year old. For The Strength of Youth applies to older people too. Get a copy from a member of the bishopric, and if you still have questions your bishop will be happy to give you guidance.
  17. I had a mole in my yard last year. After I pushed about 300 gallons of water down the freshest hole, I haven't seen him since. If I had Known Dravin would trap him for food, I would have given him a call.
  18. I think it's a personal decision only you can make for yourself.
  19. You DO have a right in the USA to say what you think. That does not mean you have the right to say it on this site. The site and its owners have the right to allow or disallow whatever they want. It's the other side of the Free Speech coin.
  20. Or Mosiah, or Alma, or Ether, or Moroni, as well. I assume you mean to include all writings of prophets who were inspired of God, right?
  21. I've looked at a few datelines, there is some disagreement about whether Revelation was completed before or after the Epistles of John.
  22. You didn't really mean to post that, did you? Do you honestly believe that that means the entire Bible is covered by that passage? Do you think John had the entire Bible out, and he was writing in the back, knowing that since he was out of paper that God would never open the heavens again and give revelations for men to write down? Was Revelations even the last book written in the Bible? You may want to research where in the Bible that same warning was given centuries before. Does that invalidate what was added later?
  23. Really? Guess what? I have my favorite sins too. They're right there, lurking in the background, waiting for me to acknowledge them and give them another whirl. They hang out at all my old haunts waiting for me to take them back. Sometimes I give in to them, mostly I resist their draw. What I don't do, is every time they come my way I don't invite them to come in and talk about them all the time. I don't entertain them, in my mind or my heart. I toss them aside as quickly as possible. You can choose to guilt yourself out of sinning again, or you can positively think your way through temptation. I choose to fill my mind with positive things and eventually I realize that sin has put itself in the rearview mirror and is fading in the distance. But they know that if I dwell on them long enough, I'll eventually come back to them, which is why it's important for me not to think on them for very long. As for judging, here's another reality: when you toss your sins out on the internet for the entire world who has Google to see, you're going to get judged. This whole 'who am I to judge?' garbage is just that. We all make judgements, every day, all the time. I judge the places I go, the people I meet, the road I drive, the food I eat. I try to use my best judgement in my every day decisions. Don't you think it's about time we all tried to use good judgement? I've made judgements about you, and you've passed judgement on me as well. Who are you to judge me? I could go on, but I know you'll find some point about it that you don't want to hear, and cast it aside as useless, harsh, and judgmental, so I'll stop.
  24. Well, you tried for a whole month. If you think a whole 4 weeks is time enough to test God to see if His promises will come true, then I guess the test is over. You can feel justified in going back to your favorite sins with a clear conscience now, right?
  25. What is more important, living a lie and trying to fool everyone including yourself, or being clean in the eyes of the Lord and suffering the consequences of taking advantage of the Atonement?
