I'll admit that Liberalism, which believes that scores should be low or even eliminated completely, is making inroads into America. I'm against protecting your little snowflake to the point where you can cheer them up by telling them they only lost by one goal, only because the opposing team's offense was so poor that they could only manage one goal the entire game. Sorry, I prefer games with a little excitement. Maybe it's because I don't drink enough beer to not care if nothing is happening on the field.

If something like that happened in a sport Americans cared about, it would be national headline news and demands for overturning the loss (non-win, draw, whatever you want to call it) would be resounding everywhere. As it is, no one in America really cares if the Americans were cheated in soccer. It's a low-profile sport with a very small following. Besides, from what I read, the only thing that might happen is that the incompetent(?) referee might not get to officiate in any more games during the World Cup. After this blows over, he'll go back to Mali and be free to display his incompetence to his heart's content. There will be almost no fallout from this, because soccer is a minor sport as far as we are concerned.

So Pam, if someone came up to you and said they have two sets of tickets, one for Real Salt Lake, the current MLS defending champs, and another for the San Diego Chargers, not exactly recent Super Bowl champs, and offered them to you free of charge, but you could only choose one set of tickets, which set would you take? Remember you would be responsible for all travel costs associated with either choice, and you live in Salt Lake.

I wouldn't worry too much about it. It's not like anyone back home cares whether they won or not.

Yeah, because we all know that all disasters are caused by conservatives. ;)Everyone knows that this had nothing to do with regulators too busy watching porn to pay attention to what the drillers who were continually pushed into deeper and deeper water by liberals were doing. I think that is a lot of it. We Americans believe that good sports should have good offense that scores multiple times during a game, not once or twice if they're lucky. Soccer is a sport for liberals who think it's perfectly okay for their little Snowflake not to get embarrassed by losing or allowing more than a couple scores in a game.

My wife made a collage out of her pictures just last week. Very nice, if I may say so. Not sure what that has to do with soccer, but you liberals all seem to think that multi-culturalism classes will fix everything.

Well, letting a guy kick the ball is not really much of a penalty, is it? They should let him have a free kick in front of the goal, going one on one with the goalie. If there is a threat that your infraction could result in a goal for the other team, then it becomes a bigger deal than if he just gets to kick a ball once in a game where the ball gets kicked around constantly for 90 minutes. And you're right, once the cup is over we Americans will move on to other, more important and exciting sports to watch.

Oh, by the way, I watched the end of the England/USA match today. (I know, there was nothing else on for some reason) Couldn't figure out why a game without a winner was really a victory and also why they arbitrarily stopped it before time officially ran out or even why the clock really didn't seem to matter. In real football (ie., American Football) the clock and time left really matter, especially when it is near the end of the game. Every second, and even fractions of them, counts in American Football. Also, I couldn't figure out why infractions don't carry any real disadvantage to the offending team.
