Welcome to the site. I hope you enjoy it here.

Perhaps you can shed some light on the situation and enlighten us as to what you were told.

68%? Are you sure? I was always told that it was 66.333%, approx 2/3 Spirit. 68% is a number that makes it worth checking out though. Now I can tell my wife that those pectoral implants she has been telling me I can't have are 'Gospel-Approved'.

Yes, we sleep in garments. They take the place of normal underwear.

Well I was thinking about smothered burritos for dinner, but those biscuits and gravy look mighty tempting.

Tell him. It is offensive and contributes to a hostile work environment. He and the company could get sued for letting this continue. If you can't talk to him, tell your boss or your HR person.

Whatever flavor it is. WHy is this so hard? Okay, sometimes I'll call it a drink.

I'm from the US Mountain West, but served a mission to Kentucky. Gained 25lbs. from the experience. Who woulda thunk that fried foods could be bad for your figure? 1- side dish, and rarely. Usually only at potlucks. 2- fountain drink 3- When it's mac & cheese night, that's all there is. Unless I toss in a cut-up hotdog. 4- If your biscuits are so hard they have to be cut with a knife, you're doing it wrong. Gravy on top, eat (and cut) with a fork. 5- don't care for grits 6- I was taught (over winter break as a houseboy at Sun Valley Resort) that over the top is the proper way. 7- neither, onions need to be sliced large enough to be picked out after cooking. 8- pecahn, and never cared for the pie.

What do you make other families for dinner when needed?
john doe replied to crazypotato's topic in Relief Society
I would prefer you cook me a groovy sirloin steak, cooked medium, with mashed potatoes and gravy or a baked potato, butter only on it. A nice dinner salad, skip the onions, topped with blue cheese dressing, and the meal is complete. If you can't whip that up in a reasonable amount of time or are nervous about your cooking, find your nearest Texas Roadhouse and they can do it for you. I generally eat around 7pm, but anytime before 9 is okay. -
This horse has been dead for years, it's time to stop beating it. Unless you're tenderizing in preparation to eat it. In which case there is the saying about swallowing a horse whole, but straining at gnats.

I do agree with the idea of eliminating instant citizenship for children of illegals born here. I think this would help a lot of the overcrowding in border hospitals. I've worked on farms before. I've worked side-by-side with aliens, both legal and illegal. The legal immigrants work just as hard as the illegals. Farmers prefer the legals, they are less trouble and hassle, and more dependable, in my experience. Most of the illegals I met would have liked to be here legally, even as seasonal guest workers. From what I was told, it is incredibly difficult for them to get seasonal work visas, and there are far too few to go around. I would be amenable to issuing seasonal guest worker visas, with these requirements as a start: *The person must pass a criminal background check, here in the US, through Interpol records, and in their home country. Any felony-grade crime would automatically make them ineligible. This would be checked yearly, and the applicant would be responsible for the cost of the check. *The person would not be able to be here for more than 6 months of any 12-month period. *The worker would be issued a laminated work permit with a tax number, fingerprint, and picture on it. He must carry it with him as identification, just as I must carry a license to drive. *Employers would be allowed to hire them, but no more than 50% of his employees could be holders of these permits. *All federal, state, and local taxes would be collected, except for Social Security taxes. The workers with the cards would never be eligible for Social Security for wages earned while holding the permit. *Employers who hire undocumented workers or too many seasonal permit workers would face stiff penalties, enough to it not worth it to violate the law. *The card would be revoked upon conviction of any crime. Those are just initial ideas off the top of my head, I would be willing to add or reconsider some of them if they are shown to be silly.

How would you feel about someone getting liposuction or gastric bypass? Are they good stewards or bad stewards?

On another hand, I don't think God will judge too harshly someone who made an adjustment to their body form if it were to make them feel better about their outward appearance. Now, if the person made that adjustment to cause someone other than their spouse lust after them, I can see how that would be seen as a bad thing. I see the purpose of plastic surgery as an attempt to make ourselves more attractive to ourselves and our spouses. Feeling good about yourself, self-love, is a good thing if not carried to an extreme. Christ said 'love your neighbor as yourself'. If you don't love who and what you are, then how can you love your neighbor? If making an adjustment to your outward appearance makes you truly feel better about yourself, why not do it? Those who exercise are essentially doing the same things, aren't we? We exercise or diet in order to accomplish the goal of looking better, and it makes us feel better about ourselves when we do it too. There are other benefits as well, but I can tell you the main reason I work out is to try to offset the toll that years of eating cheeseburgers and extra-large fries has taken on the shape of my body. I want to look better, and I know that if I look better, then my self-image will go up.

I would suggest not to give money. If you feel you have to give anything, a simple 'thank you' card with you expressing your gratitude to him for sharing the gospel with your family and perhaps bearing your testimony to him would be appropriate.

Yes, you need to get a recommend for a patriarchal blessing from your bishop. Consult with him and he will give you guidance on anything you need to do to prepare yourself for it.

Why don't we all just take chill pills while I close this? Let's all please try to learn how to play nice.

So are you saying the temples today are not functioning?

Same thing. The funny thing is, when I apply for car insurance online, some carriers don't recognize that some people got their license before age 16. You have to lie about how long you have been driving for the system to allow you to get a quote.

I got mine when I was 14. Of course, some of us just mature later than others............

Well if it makes you feel better, they also do 'days' for many other businesses around Northern Utah as well. I know of at least 5 companies that my wife or I have been involved with where they had 'Lagoon Day' or discount ticket week. I imagine they probably give out discount tickets to any large group they can identify, religious or not. They're just trying to market themselves and get people through the gates, and if they have to entice you to go by offering discounts, then that's what they'll do. Personally, I don't go unless the company is having its company party there and you have to be present to win prizes. At half price, Lagoon is barely worth the cost to me.

I find it odd how some people are so quick to judge others as being judgemental of them. It could be that some of those whom you think are 'looking down their noses' at you may actually be saddened by your lack of concern for your own eternal welfare and instead have deliberately chosen to settle for less than what they think you deserve. It's quite possible these people, who are likely older and wiser than you, can see the developing disaster coming down the road, and are distressed by your complete lack of concern about the dangers.

He's a Christian. We believe in the Law of Chastity, which means you don't have sexual relations with people whom you are not married to, among other things. He knows he sinned. I don't know what else you can say to him other than to encourage him to go to the proper church authorities and repent.
