  1. I agree with whoever said they would voice their opinion on the matter and let the spouse choose. I've been faced with this issue many times. I LOVE live concerts, especially in smaller venues. Every Sunday night a little pub in Nashville has some pretty awesome bands that I would love to see live. So far I've been able to resist, but it's getting hard. I don't see any problems with going to bars to see bands. I've dealt with more drunk and unruly people at concert venues more so than the bars.
  2. I guess the only Ex-Mormons I have issues with are those who repeat the same old myths or lies that people who have never been members do. Also those Ex-Mormons that think current members are just sheep following the heard or we are blindly following the faith. If they are Ex-Mormons because they feel like they've found truth somewhere else, more power to them, they have that right. Who am I to tell them they are wrong?
  3. Get them pierced, if your mother makes a big deal of it so what, leave her out of the wedding if it's that big of an issue with her. I got mine pierced in middle school. One of my ears always got infected so I just quit wearing earrings.
  4. I think you need to do what is best for your children. If you can work, then I would work. Maybe it's temporary, until your husband finds a higher paying job. I think the GAs have eased up on the "moms should stay at home". In this economy, a lot of time one income is not enough or the husband gets laid off and the wife has to work to keep food on the table.
  5. If I understand your post, it's dangerous to diagnose your husband if you are not a mental health professional. There are several mental illnesses that have overlapping symptoms, so I would leave it up to a professional to make an official diagnosis.
  6. The "Hee Haw" set was very different than it looked on TV. Most of the actors were really nice, in fact they all signed a huge card for me when I was in the hospital. I wish I had kept it. After I got out of the hospital I had a conversation with Gailard Sartain about how much surgery sucks and how much pain we were in ( he had recently had surgery).
  7. Since I live in Nashville and my Dad was a photographer for "Hee Haw" I've seen several famous people around town and outside of music venues. Here are more memorable ones. Reba McIntyre at a Fair of some sort, it was dark and I didn't recognize her at first. Lori Morgan at the movie theater and mall several times Lori Morgan and Sammy Kershaw at a Chinese restaurant, they looked like the biggest redneck couple the lead singer for Seether at Kroger, he was shopping with his girlfriend and what I would guess was his mom or her mom. My brother and I was in a commercial with the Oak Ridge Boys I saw 2/3s of Lady Antebellum at a Christmas concert in December they were in the audience I was waiting to cross the road in Downtown Memphis and Little Richard drove by. I was surprised he was driving his own car. I met the father of one of the guys of Three Six Mafia. He was also one of the Bar-Kays.
  8. That's good to know.
  9. Our Bishop told us, you are not babysitters, if a child is acting up and disrupting everyone then you take the kid to their parents and let them deal with the child. Of course when you do that and the parent is clueless and acts as though their child is a little angel, I'm not sure it does any good.
  10. Since TSP is a deck cleaner, wouldn't it eventually destroy your clothes?
  11. I never thought of scrubbing the holding tank. I don't think I've ever looked in there.
  12. I know a divorced woman who went on a mission, but I believe she got special permission from the GAs. It wouldn't hurt to ask your Bishop or Stake President what they think.
  13. I saw "scrub toilets" on the example list in the blog. I just thought it was a weird example. I scrub mine once a week.
  14. How long can the laundry soap be stored for?
  15. These recipes are awesome. I need to try them.
  16. Good idea, but being single, this could take a long time. So people only scrub the toilets once a year?
  17. I'm sure we come in contact with sex offenders every day in public. It's no different than being around them at church, except for the fact you know what they have done. If you are aware of it you can warn your children.
  18. Something like that shouldn't be celebrated, neither should polygamy. I don't remember there being outrage over "Big Love" or "Sister Wives", except from the Church.
  19. The October child sounds like a child I had years ago. The parents later found out he was autistic. If he NEVER makes eye contact, that's a pretty good indication. Children with autism hate to have their routine changed, so they act out. The kid I had would hit other children and never listened to what we told him to do. I knew there was something wrong with him, because he also never talked.
  20. I have to disagree with you. I know some families who make good money but they are still living paycheck to paycheck because they think they've got to keep up a certain lifestyle. No one holds a gun to your head and says you must buy a new car every time you pay the old one off or you must get a credit card or you must buy a $200,000 house because the BANK says you can afford it, yet people do this all the time. There's too many Americans who don't live within their means. I know because I used to do these things. It's no one's fault but their own.
  21. The school district did not ban the book, so I don't see a problem with getting permission to read it. All the mother has to do is give her child permission to read it, problem solved.
  22. I think for a long time we have felt secure in our jobs so we spent money because we were certain that we were getting another paycheck. We didn't bother to save any money because we always had some coming in. I used to do this until my job became unstable and I suddenly realized if I didn't have family to fall back on I would have been homeless. Like someone else said, there's a waiting list for Government housing, and people who are drug addicts or mentally ill don't have the fortitude to find assistance. I don't think the 3 paycheck statistic is that far fetched. I bet due to this poor economy some people have changed their lifestyles.
  23. Windseeker, those were some scary quotes. I never understood why so many people held Obama up to that high standard. He gave a good speech at the Democratic Convention and somehow that made him a great leader.
  24. I liked Huntsman too. I hope its not Hillary, if it is the Republicans better have a dang good candidate. If they don't, Hillary will be our next President because she's a woman and she's a Clinton. For some reason a lot of people think Bill was the greatest President since JFK.
  25. I was referring to what you said about Patreus trying to sell the attack as a protest. Hillary Clinton was the first to publicly announce that it was the result of a protest.
