Thank you for telling that story Iggy. I definitely don't want to wait until it's too late to do anything about it. My house will be 2 years old in December and her house is maybe 2 and a half to three years old, so we haven't been here long. I guess those neighbors should have made sure they had a right to complain about his yard, I bet the guy who built his garage on your brother's property was not thrilled in the least to have to buy the garage back from him. I'm hoping I can get the original surveyor out here and maybe it won't cost me as much. I was told my size yard might be around $325 to get surveyed.

Yes, I think that's what I'm going to do, hire a professional to measure off my lot then go to her and explain the situation. I guess if she causes a stink over it I may have to seek a lawyer's advice. I don't think she will, she will be angry at the guy who put up erroneous stakes in the first place. Thanks for everyone's advice.

So in english, I can give her written permission for use of the yard as long as she understands it can be revoked at any time?

I shouldn't have said fight, she seems like a nice lady. I'm probably going to have to get my yard resurveyed so I can have proof from a professional instead of me saying I measured it, because she probably wouldn't take my word for it.

I am getting estimates for a fence for my back yard. I have a plat map that has the measurements of my property. While I was measuring out to where my property line should be, I discovered my property line extends about 5 feet into what my neighbor is considering her yard. Several months ago she sodded her whole back yard and she has flowers and bushes planted along the back of her yard. The people who installed the sod did use the markers the developer placed out there, but I'm thinking the guy just put them up without doing actual measurements. There is a 10 foot utility easement on that side of the yard, so I wasn't planning on putting my fence right on the property line anyway. So do I just let the issue go and not say anything to her, or do I point out that her yard is actually supposed to be part of my yard? I really don't care, but I'm thinking of long term, if/when I sell the house is it going to bring my value down a bit to lose that 5 feet? I know after so many years (10-20) of her mowing that area and taking care of it as if it were her yard, it will legally become her yard.

I thought about medical transcription since I already work in the healthcare field. I read in some forums that people were having a hard time finding work.

Steve Young said he did not wear garments during games. Like others have I said I would assume the only reason not to wear garments on stage or in sports is if the garments would be exposed.

I did check out the mturk site, it looks like it might have some potential. microworkers.com is another website I found. tongal.com is another one I found that pays VERY well, but it's very competitive.

I actually wouldn't mind doing data entry, even if it meant I had to go somewhere to pick it up and drop it off.

I did ChaCha for 3 days and only made $10, I was probably on it for a total of 10 hrs. I decided real quick it was a waste of time. I also was only able to do it in the wee morning hours, so maybe that's why I didn't make much. I do stained glass, but it's very expensive and I looked at Etsy and there a ton of people that have stained glass items up for sale. I'll keep looking around. I always see ads for secret shoppers, but A lot of them sounded too good to be true. I figured there had to be a catch to it.

I'm interested in making a little extra money. Does anyone know of any trustworthy online companies that hire part time?

I agree. I don't know that the inclination towards homosexuality is any different than that towards pedophilia, meaning it's caused by some type of abnormality in the brain or a chemical imbalance. Although I think in some pedophilia cases it's more about control than sexual pleasure. I think those who are struggling with pedophilia do need someone who understands them and doesn't automatically brand them as a monster.

Meat chunks just sounds awful.

I liked the good old days when the teacher took you in the coat closet. I went to elementary school in a 100 year old building and the walls were thin. You could hear the whack of wood hitting flesh. It struck fear in all of us. I don't think I ever saw a kid disrespect a teacher. Those were the days also when kids feared the punishment they were going to get at home more than what the teacher was going to give them. It's not like that anymore. I think zero tolerance began in my Junior or Senior year of high school. I agree, it is ridiculous. In my opinion, schools are so big now that they are the equivalent to prisons. If your kid is being bullied and doesn't stick up for him/herself then it's only going to get worse.

I wouldn't be surprised if it was a set up. If the video has been online since June, why now all of a sudden are they protesting? On the other hand it goes to show how volatile radical Muslims are and how many of them don't seem to understand their own religion.

I can't imagine being 127 years old. Our body does need glucose to function, unfortunately we overload on sugar, that's the problem.

That's what people get hung up on is the oddities of the church and what was done in the past. If everyone talked about how normal we were there wouldn't be any reason to hate us. I used to like Glenn Beck when he only had his radio show, but now he's become very annoying.

Yes but if the Federal Government issues a consumption tax, does that mean States will have to get rid of their sales taxes? If not, then a consumption tax would be a huge burden on the Middle Class depending on what State you live in. In Tennessee the State sales tax is 7% and the average local sales tax is 2.45%, so most of us are paying 9.25% sales tax on everything we buy. I think the tax on food is a little lower, but not much. Of course we don't have a State personal income tax, although the State keeps threatening to tax income also. I guess that's why I didn't like the idea of the "FAIR Tax". I agree with the Traveler, a strong country depends on a strong Middle Class, and ours is getting weaker. I think the Middle Class has to share in the blame, because look at how many people are living off of credit and have no money saved up. A pretty high percentage of us are one pay check away from being homeless, and I don't think that is all the Feds' fault.

I watched an interesting documentary on Netflix called "An Inconvenient Tax". I'm thinking we need to have a flat tax, that EVERYONE pays, regardless of income.

I understand what the OP is saying, everytime this topic comes up it seems to always be directed at the men. It is becoming a bigger problem for women too, but I think more women enjoy reading porn rather than viewing it.

You are right PC, it's usually the youth who do baptisms for the dead, I think you have to be 14 and up or it may be 12 and up. Who knows, maybe Abby did expand more on what her Bishop said to her, but it was edited out. I too was surprised she said the church was secretive. When asked what goes on in the Temple, she did say "oh, nothing crazy". Yeah, the picture of the garments kind of threw me too. I think most people have already seen them due to the internet. I think the reason people don't understand why we don't discuss in detail what goes on in the Temple is because they don't understand the meaning of "sacred". In this day in age, there's not much of anything that is held sacred anymore. Church is something to go to before you go shopping on Sunday afternoon. There's probably very few people who actually sit down and read the scriptures and actually feel like they truly have a duty to God to follow Christ's example. They don't understand why we might get upset if there were comedians or others mocking what goes on in the Temple.

That happens a lot down here, one minute they are professing their love of Christ while the next minute they are breaking one of the 10 Commandments or just not acting very Christ-like in their day to day activities. It's because they truly believe they can break commandments because say they have Christ in their hearts and in their minds they are being saved in their sins. What I don't understand is how can someone profess to have Christ in their hearts yet break common laws of the land or be hateful to others. If they truly had Christ in their hearts then they wouldn't being doing those things. Of course I know not every Christian (whatever denomination believes this) is like this, and some do try to live Christ-like lives. I'm sure there are some LDS members who are guilty of this too.

I think it's funny when missionaries from Utah or Idaho come out here and they are amazed at all the different churches down here. One sister missionary thought the Baptists were a small group, because she knew of only one church in her town. Store clerks also sometimes say "have a blessed day".

I agree PC, I'm sure this lady meant well. She was very excited to tell me all about Jesus Christ. I guess I just don't agree with the idea that all you have to do is say you have Jesus in your heart and recite a prayer then your saved. I think it involves making some life changes in some cases and living a Christ-like life. Some people believe that once you "have Jesus in your heart", you can go rob a bank, cheat on your spouse, or murder someone and you will still be "saved", because that spot in heaven is reserved for you. I don't believe Christ died for us so that we can all sin as we please and not repent of those sins and suffer the consequences.

If she said she wanted to lay hands on me I definitely would have said "No".
