  1. Like HEThePrimate said, don't get your hopes up that it will solve your problems. It's good to have though to kind of keep you on the right track. I fasted the day I received mine. Maybe pray before and let Heavenly Father know what your concerns are.
  2. I think he is homosexual, it mentioned him having feelings for a man. It doesn't say for sure though.
  3. I really can't get promoted unless I get my supervisor's license, which I can't get for another year. I usually work well with others, there is one lady that I can not stand for some reason. I haven't had to work with her in a while so it's not that big of a deal. I guess I was just afraid that I was being greedy in always wanting to earn more money. Someone else asked if I was getting pressure from family to make more money, and the answer is no. My parents never made a whole lot of money in their careers, they pretty much just made enough to get by.
  4. It was a touching story and obviously marriage is not for everyone in this situation. I think it's false to assume marriage will reverse someone's SSA. It sounds like they both received personal revelation on the matter.
  5. I know a guy who managed to live 20+ years with a woman and have 4 children with her all the while having SSA. Unfortunately he started acting on his SSA and she divorced him. She knew he had homosexual feelings before they got married. I know another guy who was not so fortunate. He didn't tell his finance until their honeymoon night. The marriage was annulled the next day or so. It's got to be hard to have SSA and try to live a heterosexual lifestyle.
  6. Cool I'll have to check that out. You can also go to the Library of Congress's website, they have a lot of old newspapers you can search though and it's free. The website is LOC.gov Just click on the "historic newspapers" link. There's some states that are not included like Michigan.
  7. That was good advice Traveler. I work in a lab in a hospital, I like the job and my coworkers, but I feel like I'm just a button pusher. I've probably lost 75% of the knowledge I had about lab tests and diagnosis since I started working because we are not allowed to use our knowledge. There's a training program I found where a private lab will train you in cytogenetics testing for a year and you can get a specialty license to work in TN. Of course after that year is up they send you out to find a job. I guess I just feel like I've been in school my whole life and I can't seem to find something that satisfies the financial side and the career side. I have two Bachelor's (I don't think I spelled that right) degrees and one Master's. Maybe I'm ADD when it comes to figuring out what I want to do.
  8. Since I've decided to never use credit cards again I'm having to get used to waiting before I purchase the things that I want. I guess I just need a lesson in patience, which is what I'm getting.
  9. That was a good article. I had never thought of it, but I guess serving a mission would be good preparation for a career in politics.
  10. I'm considering a slight job change, but I'm mostly doing it because it might pay more. I like the job I'm doing now and my employer. I get paid a decent wage and I have no debt but my house, but I feel like I should always be chasing after more money. Does anyone else have this feeling? I feel like I should be happy with what I have,. Any thoughts or advice?
  11. I have an Asus Transformer also. It costs less than an iPad and it does pretty much the same thing. It runs on Android instead of MAC. I also read books on it, I downloaded the "Kindle" app. I can access this website just fine on the Transformer.
  12. Last year I found out I had high cholesterol so I started eating lower fat foods and less prepackaged stuff. For lunch and dinner I ate a small portion of protein, about 6 oz and the rest were fruits and vegetables. More vegetables than fruit. I quit drinking cokes and juice, I now only drink water, I have milk with breakfast. I was also walking about 1/2 to 1 mile a day, everyday. I lost about 8 lbs, which I did not intend to do. Now I'm tying to gain weight because everyone comments on how skinny I look. I'd say if you cut out drinks with sugar and prepackaged foods and exercise you could probably lose the weight.
  13. Wow that's ridiculous, if seven people had already heard the girl's story, why was it only the Bishop's responsibility to report it? The parents should have reported it if they knew about it first. Did the father think the Bishop had some special truth radar that know one else had?
  14. I watch documentaries on Netflix. I also like "Touch" and "Awake", which I watch online. I don't have cable or satellite and I don't miss it.
  15. I should have said to assume that only openly gay men are likely to molest boys is dangerous. Sandusky is a good example of a guy living a heterosexual lifestyle, but participated in homosexual activities. Some people claim it's all about control. I think control is part of it, but if it was strictly only about control Sandusky would have been molesting little girls and not little boys.
  16. I believe since the BSA is a private organization they can make what ever rules they want to make. I do agree to believe that only gay men are pedophiles is dangerous. What about all of the seemingly normal "straight" men that are pedophiles? I don't think a lesbian is going to molest a boy(not saying it can't happen, but unlikely), but how can you allow lesbians but not allow gay men? I too am surprised that they are allowing women to serve in BSA above the cub scout level. I see this a being dangerous also. Look at how many sexual relationships occur between teen boys and female teachers. I don't know what the solution is to protecting our children from sexual predators.
  17. I don't have cable or satellite TV, but I noticed the internet news sources have scaled back their coverage of this case. I think once the truth came out about the events of that night the media can no longer claim racism, so it's not interesting to them anymore. I can't believe they are charging Zimmerman with Second Degree Murder. I looked up the requirements to convict someone on second degree murder, and there's only one requirement that this case fulfills and that is that the victim is dead. The second requirment says that the death was caused by the criminal act of the defendant. Zimmerman wasn't doing anything criminal that I'm aware of. He had a license for to carry his gun. He was just driving down the street. I don't think following someone is a criminal act. In fact Zimmerman was getting his head beat in when he shot Martin, so it's Martin who was committing a criminal act at the time of the shooting. The third requirement says There was an unlawful killing of the victim by an act imminently dangerous to another and demonstrating a depraved mind without regard for human life. I'm not sure how the Prosecution is going to prove this one either. Zimmerman shot once, it wasn't like he was shooting at anyone who came near him or shooting at people in the neighborhood. The website below is where I got the Second Degree Murder requirments from. Second Degree Murder - Law Firm Arnold Law Firm, LLC Attorneys Jacksonville, Florida
  18. I've heard of more than one parent saying they were questioned after taking their kid to the ER for treatment, especially if the child had visited multiple times. I think these accusations are going to deter parents from bringing their kid to the ER. The government has long overstepped their boundaries in these situations.
  19. I just read an article on CNN that said there had been a rash of burglaries in the past 15 months in that neighborhood, all committed by black men. I think this is probably why Zimmerman called Martin in to the police, maybe he thought Martin was looking for a house to break in to. I think the big question is, who confronted who first? Also, just because the DA didn't want to press any charges against him that night or the next day doesn't mean they were never going to press charges. They may have wanted to wait until they could get witnesses together and get more evidence about what had happened. If they didn't think they could convict them on what they had, they are not going to take it to court.
  20. One of the Osmonds served in Nashville. I don't know whose son he was.
  21. Unfortunately Zimmerman is not going to get a fair trail. Zimmerman should have left him lone and waited for police, but he made a stupid mistake by following him. The media has had a field day with this story that is not really even a story.
  22. I guess it depends on what kind of travel. If you are driving somewhere out of town I don't see the problem with it. I can understand why people might not want to take a bus, train, or plane on Sundays since you are making other people work. It can't always be avoided, but it's nothing that would cause you to be disciplined by the Bishop.
  23. That's why I kind of wonder if Insurance companies are going to try to weasel their way out of paying for home healthcare or a nursing home because look at all the people who are going to need it. We are living well into our 80s and 90s now, I don't see insurance companies being able to keep up with the demand. Or maybe they will it will just be very expensive to have long term care insurance.
  24. What kind of vacuum sealer do you use? I bought one of those FoodSaver things at Bed Bath and Beyond and it was a waste of $200. The heat seal works but the vacuum quit working after like the tenth bag I did.
  25. Thanks for all of the good tips. I live in TN so there is no way I could store my food in my garage, it would spoil in the humid summer heat. I have two pretty big empty closets plus my walk-in closet in the master bath so I think I have enough room to store my food in the house. I will store some of my household items in the garage, at least the stuff that is not temperature sensitive. Is there any way to buy food in smaller containers than those #10 cans? I thought once you open those the shelf life decreases dramatically. That's why I kind of don't want to buy those large buckets of food because if I ever had to open one I would probably end up wasting a lot of it.
