It's great to meet you, Brother Tucker! I have a lot of questions, but sometimes I don't know how to go about asking them. -
I wish I could do family history, but I'm having a tough time with it.

Would there be any way for someone to find out which ancestors have already had their work done?  I think I found somewhere on lds.org that my maternal grandfather had his proxy baptism and confirmation already done, but I can't remember where the link was, so now I have no idea if it was done for him or not. I know my membership number now, I just can't remember where I found the above information. -
I agree. The safety regulations need to be followed; keep the emergency row clear. I haven't flown in a long time, but I understand how hard it is on both sides from both a child and adult viewpoint: When I was a little girl my family and I had to make trips back and forth to Philadephia and back because we were seeing a doctor there about physical therapy to stop a complex seizure condition (I posted more about my condition in my introduction thread) and most of the trips were by airplane. When my ears would pop from the pressure--I still remember the pain to this day--it hurt so bad I'd start screaming and crying. I can't be mad at a child if he or she's in pain and can't help it. However, if toddlers to adolescents are throwing fits and/or running unsupervised up and down the aisles, someone needs to take action then and there and put a stop to it.

Hi, Slamjet! I'm a newbie to the group, but I wanted to stop by and leave you a message: You're in my prayers. And congratulations!

Hi, Darkpaw! Sorry I haven't responded until now, things have been so hectic/busy in my life that I haven't had a change to get my brain under control and just focus on one thing. -
Welcome aboard! We're glad you could join us! :)

Thanks! :) Because of a seizure condition I used to have, my memory was really messed up; I couldn't remember my membership number, but last night I went to a special event we had in my ward teaching family history. They found my membership number and helped me set up an account on familysearch. :) -
hi darkpaw :) Sorry for the late post. I have a question for any other Church members please: I noticed an inconsistency on my membership records: My ward was having an activity tonight to trace and record family history; I checked a copy of my records they'd given me (I need my membership number in order to log into the official Church site) and "tada" I see December. My reaction was "Wow, what happened here?" My membership records say I was born 02 Dec 1981, but I was actually born February 1, 1981. I have no idea where the December date came from on there. Who would I have to go to in order to get the birth date corrected on my membership records? Would I have to talk to the bishop and have him contact the stake president?

I thought I used to be in the Satellite Beach ward, but then I remembered: they redistricted the boundaries last year. Now Satellite Beach and Melbourne are merged into the Melbourne ward. -

I was a preemie baby. My mom told me that she'd had to have an emergency C-section when I was born, in 1981. Because of the premature birth, I was born with damage to the right side of my brain, a lesion in my right temporal lobe. The lesion caused me to develop a complex seizure condition (grand-mal and petit-mal, I'd have both kinds, but at different times). My family didn't want to start me off in real school because of this, so they found a place that helped kids in my condition, a non-profit organization in Philadelphia, the Institutes For the Achievement of Human Potential. The Institutes for the Achievement of Human Potential - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia I went through the entire course (physical therapy and learning), and was reading before most babies were: Instead of baby books when I was three, I was reading and comprehending Tolkien's Hobbit and Lord of the Rings. (I'm not meaning to brag, I'm just explaining how the course worked) When I finally went from homeschooling into real school, it was terrible. Almost all of the other students were picking on me and verbally harassing me. . . it got to be too much. I'd deliberately act out just so I could get out of those classrooms. I went through part of an elementary school program and flunked out. Later in my life, after I joined the Church, I went through two high schools and a private school, and flunked out of all three of them, too. (I think I might have been around ten or eleven when I was baptized and confirmed a member of the Church, but I'm not positive because of the seizure condition. I know I was out of elementary school, though; young enough to start off in the Beehives group in Young Women's.) I'm GLAD I got out of those schools, because it was too much for me to handle. The profanity, the other students talking about crude stuff constantly. . . I just couldn't stand it. (If anyone has any questions about me or about any of this, I'll be glad to try to answer and expand on them) -
Hi, Melisa!  From one Sister to another, I'd like to welcome you, both to the Church and to this forum. I hope you enjoy them both. :) :) :)

I found the other link. http://www.lds.net/forums/287493-post153.html I think the way that version was worded was a lot better than this version. :)

You're not crazy. I had a similar experience happen to me when I was younger. (I hope it's okay to share it in this thread ) To explain: I can't remember when it was exactly, but I had a. . . I don't know if it was a thought or a dream, but it involved my father being in an accident with a white truck. I don't remember any further details, but it scared me. In either 2009 or 2010, my mom got a call and she told me "Kelly, your father's been in an accident. Elisabeth called and told me, 'he's in the hospital'."   The Elisabeth mentioned is a dear friend of mine. My immediate reaction was total panic; I think I might have mentioned "Did a white truck hit him?!" We got a card a few days later from the hospital. Dad told me he was going to be okay; they'd had to put a rod or something in his leg. The truck hadn't hit him; he'd been in an accident with a parked truck (I don't know if he said he'd driven his motorcycle into the side of it or not) and yes, it had been a white truck.

Two cars were waiting at a stoplight. The light turned green, but the man didn’t notice it. A woman in the car behind him is watching traffic pass around them. The woman begins pounding on her steering wheel and yelling at the man to move. The man doesn’t move. The woman is going ballistic inside her car, ranting and raving at the man, pounding on her steering wheel and dash. The light turns yellow and she begins to blow the car horn, flips him off, and screams profanity and curses at the man. The man, looks up, sees the yellow light and accelerates through the intersection just as the light turns red. The woman is beside herself, screaming in frustration as she misses her chance to get through the intersection. As she is still in mid-rant she hears a tap on her window and looks up into the barrel of a gun held by a very serious looking policeman. The policeman tells her to shut off her car while keeping both hands in sight. She complies, speechless at what is happening. After she shuts off the engine, the policeman orders her to exit her car with her hands up. She gets out of the car and he orders her to turn and place her hands on her car. She turns, places her hands on the car roof and quickly is cuffed and hustled into the patrol car. The woman is too bewildered by the chain of events to ask any questions and is driven to the police station where she is fingerprinted, photographed, searched, booked and placed in a cell. After a couple of hours, a policeman approaches the cell and opens the door for her. She is escorted back to the booking desk where the original officer is waiting with her personal effects. He hands her the bag containing her things, and says, “I’m really sorry for this mistake. But you see, I pulled up behind your car while you were blowing your horn, flipping the guy off in front of you, and cussing a blue streak at him. Then I noticed the: “Families are Forever” license plate holder, the “Choose the Right” bumper sticker, and the “BYU” window decal. So, naturally . . . . . . . . I assumed you had stolen the car.”

I live in Florida; I'm a member of the Melbourne Ward of the Cocoa, Florida Stake. I don't think I've ever been out of the east half of the US, but I'd love to visit Salt Lake City and see the temple there in person someday. -
If someone had checked the filtration system the second they saw a problem, found the damage and fixed it, this tragedy would never have happened. I hate hearing about stories like this. My thoughts and prayers go out to this woman's friends and loved ones. I personally feel the lifeguard needs to be fired and put in jail for negligence.

I had the same reaction when I first noticed this thread; I did a double take and had to check it. I'm glad President Packer's doing better and I'm keeping him and his family in my prayers.

Father's Day for me this year wasn't only for my Earthly father on this side of the veil, but for Heavenly Father as well. I can't drive, but I asked mom if she could take me to church yesterday for Sacrament meeting and we went. I'm glad we did. Every time I pray, I thank Him for the countless blessings He gives, including being my Father, which to me is a blessing in itself. :)
