  1. I think there are still a lot of people who wonder what we believe now than there were before, and are going to be more curious and willing to listen. One thing that I was concerned about was the blame for austerity measures (which are needed but never popular) and a steep decline of the economy (which eventually is inevitable) being laid through various elected officials at our door. That is at least one thing we no longer have to worry about.
  2. This is the second part of a talk that talks about increasing calamities in the last days...also about the several appearances that will encompass the second coming of Jesus Christ !
  3. Some of the concerns are that usually there is a buffer of sand and dunes that protect the shore and they were taken out by Sandy and so relatively small storms can do much more damage. Trees root systems have been weakened and so snow and ice on branches could more easily take them over. This winter storm could bring snow, ice and wind gusts somewhere between 40-60 mph. It could cause new power outages as well as will disrupt services including emergency relief services to the needy.
  4. President Eyring said that the tsunami (several years ago now) was a part and a beginning of what was to come. That to me means that it will be different from what we have already experienced... There are definitely quite a few quotes regarding "difficult days lie ahead" and that we are in "perilous times" and a "time of sorrow" from various Church leaders in recent years. I believe the BOM was given to us for our day and one of the things that I get from that is the repeated cycle of what happens when people turn away from God. There is even a greater warning for those that live on the American continent regarding when they become "ripe" in iniquity. I know that our society could be become much more wicked...I believe that judgements will come upon the people when they become ripe and start severely persecuting and even killing the prophets (e.g. leaders and missionaries.) A few things we do expect from scripture in the future is a "desolating plague" and a "hailstorm" that destroys the worlds crops. I do not believe we have seen these things yet. It is interesting to see the charts showing how earthquakes have increased in number and magnitude in recent years. Particularly, it is unusual to see so many record breaking 9 earthquakes so close together.
  5. President Packer said that IF we take the Holy Spirit as our guide in our lives and seek Him always we can expect to see our grandchildren grow up and we will be protected. To me it means more that we will make it through difficult times, not that there won't be any. He also said that we are heading into a time of increased responsibility where we won't be leading the lives of leisure that we are used to in a different talk. I don't have time to look them up but I can later if you want.
  6. I have loved ones that have to make it home on freeways that travel through low lying areas close to the lake during their commutes each day and so this was of particular interest to me. I've encouraged them to keep a 72 hour kit in their car with some good walking shoes just in case they have to "hoof" it.
  7. Gayle has since moved from the home where she was when she had that dream. So it could not be a "literal" dream. She is a cousin of a friend of mine who respects her and so I wouldn't call her a false prophetess but there are many reasons why one can dream dreams. If you read one such as these it is very important to listen to the Spirit as you read. On the book "Visions of Glory" I just posted, it was sold out the first day and they are waiting for the second printing. There is a lot of interest out there and people who have read it are buying it for family and friends.
  8. A similar NDE book is out this week which was compiled and written by John Pontius called "Visions of Glory: One Man's Astonishing Account of the Last Days" compiled and written by John Pontius from over 50 hours of interviews with his friend "Spencer" who had the NDEs. It is available for around $14.50 on Amazon. This is the blurp on it..."In this true account of near-death experiences, we learn about the miracles of the millennium, the return of the Ten Tribes, the building of the New Jerusalem and temple, and many other astonishing events long prophesied in scripture but never before described in such vivid detail. Visions of Glory is a mesmerizing and fascinating read that you will not be able to put down." I haven't read it yet. I understand that it IS fascinating. It will be interesting to see how "Spencer's" NDEs (he's had more than one) may or may not agree with the similar topic dreams and NDEs of my other LDS friends. I think I posted a disclaimer about NDEs and visions above...the thing to remember is that they are limited by the persons understanding and interpretation. So even if a dream, vision or NDE were a true experience, the interpretations of it may not be as we filter things through our own understandings and beliefs. But I still find them interesting!
  9. This is not a Church sponsored book at all, although it is a LDS Church related book. Roger K Young had a dream (it's found on the internet) while at the MTC of future devastations in the Provo area and he shared that once and other people who had similar dreams started telling/sending them to him. Because they were so similar they were compiled and sold at his website (which site he sold to a friend when he was called into a bishopric). While it is very interesting they should not be taken literally as obviously some of the people have passed on and others have moved past the time in their lives when these things occurred in their dream. What I find most interesting is when I run into people that have had a similar dream for their family but have never heard that other people are having dreams of an invitation to gather to safety. I believe some kind of gathering could be necessary in the future for safety from calamities for some people and I have pondered that this could be the start of the "trek" back to the New Jerusalem for others. But they always start as an invitation from the prophet...so until that happens it is on the back burner as a possibility. One of the common things that has been dreamed is that you have to have your commanded food storage to be able to go and survive.
  10. Did you guys see that picture of Sandy's flooding of the World Trade Center area construction? It looked like waterfalls. It reminded me that this area is where the US was dedicated to the Lord by George Washington in a church there. It makes you wonder if these disasters there are significant...beyond the obvious reasons like bad guys and natural disasters.
  11. This is from my original post on this topic. I agree that he is stretching for some of his dates particularly on his definitions of a generation. I've been watching this year because of all the various cultures beliefs regarding it, but also because Lindsey Williams (a supposed friend of the oil elite has been saying for a few years that this is the year where food will be in the store but we won't be able to afford much of it) and so when Brother Hall agreed with some of that I found it interesting.
  12. Unfortunately, the soy and corn crops aren't the only bad news. The condition of winter-wheat crops in the U.S. are the worst for this time of year since the government began monitoring in 1985, as drought damage spread to the Great Plains. An estimated 40 percent of winter wheat, the most-common domestic variety, was rated good or excellent as of Oct. 28, with 15 percent in poor or very poor condtition. This is the first assessment of the winter wheat. Hopefully it will get the moisture it needs before the wheat goes dormant for the winter. We really need a good crop this year!
  13. After reading so much regarding the damage caused from "waves heaving beyond their bounds" recently I was wondering about the greater SLC area. When I posted the research above I meant to read what a Seiche was as they are mentioned. As I understand it the fault in the Salt Lake would cause a tsunami or even water displacement, but then the power of that would reverberate like water sloshing in a dish causing problems in other directions of the lake as well. I read that there have been seiches as high as 33 feet in Lake Tahoe in the distant past, but then it is a very deep lake and the GSL is not that deep as lakes go. But then there is an actual major fault going through the bottom of the Salt Lake so this wouldn't be seiche at first causing damage. Much of the area near the Salt Lake including some downtown areas are already in severe damage liquefaction zones. Add a tsunami with continued seiches and that could be "really unfun" as my kids would say. While unlikely with the Salt Lake the plate could actually drop (seven feet in the last quake) which while unlikely could cause water displacement which can be even more powerful than other types of "heaving waves".
  14. I understand a lot of phones aren't working also. A good number of the cell phone towers went down as well. There is a lot of food relief going to these areas, it's just that the numbers of those in need are vast...

  17. Sandy's strength, as indicated by barometric pressure just before landfall, set a record. Sandy's strength and angle of approach combined to produce a record storm surge of water into New York City. The surge level at Battery Park topped a record breaking 13.88 feet at 9:24 p.m. Monday. New York Harbor's surf also reached a record level when a buoy measured a 32.5-foot wave Monday. As Sandy approached the Northeast was roughly twice the size of Texas with tropical-force winds reaching out 580 miles. Sandy's power cut electricity service to a record 7.5 million businesses and households without electric power. First storm to seriously damage NY subway system.
  18. "Federal scientists are saying this July was overall the hottest on record. The NEAA reported that the stretch from August 2011 through to July of this year was the warmest 12-month period the U.S. has EVER experienced. “The current year is out and beyond those Dust Bowl years. We're rivaling and beating them consistently from month to month.” Jake Crouch of NOAA's National Climatic Data Center in Asheville, N.C. as a result this is what researchers believe will happen... “World food prices look set to hit an all-time high in the first quarter of next year – and then keep rising...” They say this is because global grain and oilseed reserves are set to decline to critically low levels…” The world will continue to see record food prices 'within a year' due to US drought... 19. Those with no food stores at home are suffering as they can not use their ATM, Credit or government assistance cards where the power is still out. I am so grateful for the wisdom of a loving Heavenly Father that tells us to "prepare every needful thing" before calamity strikes. Those saints who have stored their three month supply and water and a little money on hand in those areas without power right now don't have to go out to find such things. "Many of the low-income residents receive cash and supplemental nutritional assistance from the state electronically through what the New York State Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance calls Electronic Benefit Cards (EBT.) Recipients buying eligible foods are suppose to swipe their EBT cards like any other credit card for their purchases but since Hurricane Sandy hit, most Lower East Side stores don’t have electricity to run credit card transactions and are only accepting cash. Leaving many people on EBT with empty wallets, empty refrigerators and no access to food. “The supermarkets don’t even really want to sell anything. They’re open but if you don’t have cash, you messed up. And everybody in these projects, they take EBT…food stamps,” a La Guardia Houses resident told WNYC’s Marianne McCune." 20. Glad you were someplace more fun than So Manhattan this week! My husband travelled there just a few days before "the big one."
  21. One of the biggest problems is that the storage tanks that gather the fuel coming in from other areas were damaged as many of these are near the coast, some are leaking and the employees are desperately trying to contain the oil, etc. MANY storage tanks are contaminated with mud and sea water. Oil and gas for refineries and fuel stations must be brought in and that is a lot of gas needed by millions of people. Bus systems are running out of fuel...taxis are running out...food trucks don't have access to stations, etc. Some headlines... Hundreds of people in need of petrol have queued up in hopes of buying as many gallons as possible. Fuel supplies into the tri-state area were being choked off in several ways. Two refineries that make up a quarter of the region's refining capacity were still idle due to power outages or flooding.
  22. At a 12-unit apartment building at West 23rd near Mermaid Avenue in Coney Island, several tenants are huddled together in one room where human waste is spilling out of the toilet. They need help, and are at a loss explaining why assistance is getting to them faster. "We have no food or water. Why isn't anyone helping us," asked tenant Aeising Cancel. "We are scavenging for food like animals," said another tenant Jeffery Francis. "We are in a crisis and no one will help us. Look at us. We are misery. Everyone cares about Manhattan. No one is looking out for us. Nothing. We are Katrina." Despair sets in for some Coney Island residents as living conditions deteriorate rapidly in Sandy’s wake - NY Daily News
  23. Derivatives: You have $1.1 quadrillion of derivatives, and all of the gold ever produced, which is in one corner of the chart, is $9 trillion. If you take the gold said to be held by central banks, which assumes the central banks physically possess the 30,000 tons and I don’t believe they have anywhere near that, but hypothetically speaking, if they did, it is only $1.6 trillion worth of gold... So what I am saying with this chart is if there is a derivatives blow up, you can only imagine the amount of money that would need to be printed. And, again, I think there is a very high probability of a derivatives blow up taking place. My Blog Kingworldnews blog
