At 5 months and 18 months it is not a matter of being a good parent. They don't understand if you tell them not to do something. Try telling a 5 and 18 month old to be reverent. Any inconsistent discipline they will not understand, like doing something once a week. If you take them out, you are mainly doing it as a courtesy to other people.

Maybe if you talk to your bishop he could figure something out. If it was me I would probably direct all the families with kids to sit in the back. It gives them easier access to exit if needed. Then I would tell the couples or singles without kids to sit in the front. I do not know if that is legal though.

I guess I need to exercise understanding myself . Having to deal with two baby daughters has conditioned me to zone them out. I am sure parents are like that in your ward also. From now on, I will try to take them out more. My daughters are 18 months and 5 months. In addition, I usually pass the Sacrament. Nonetheless, my wife and I will try harder to take them out.

No offense, but that is a horrible idea. You will surely offend people... Instead you might wish to exercise a little bit of understanding. I am a parent who makes the choice to wait a bit before I take them out. Mainly because I actually want to hear the talks. I find it difficult to cut a good talk off and leave with children.

I was not sure if I was going to share an experience, but I have decided that I will. I was at my In-laws house for whatever reason. This was a time when I was regaining my testimony and felt deep sorrow for my actions against the church. I asked my MIL if I could read a book, I picked up a book that was a compilation of Joseph Smith Jr. talks and writings. Me and my MIL were talking and I had deep gratitude for everything I did against the church, crying even. After awhile of talking, I went to the living room and opened the text.I looked at a couple pages without reading and then came to the page I read. It ended up being the letter Joseph Smith Jr. wrote to W.W. Phelps telling him he was welcome back. I know that was the Lord letting me know I was welcomed back.

Go talk to the Bishop, recover the peace you once had. Nothing is more valuable then living in peace. I like the saying, paraphrasing, "peace is saying what you think and doing what you say." If you don't talk to the Bishop and continue to cover it up, this sin will always haunt you. Brother I urge you to go retain your peace, go talk to the Bishop!

My story is similar to William W. Phelps, for I have drunk of the bitter cup. Not only have I drunk, but have caused others cups to overflow. As Joseph Smith Jr. said, "those who were friends at first are friends at last." I have repented and returned to the true fold, though remain far from perfect. W.W. Phelps gives me hope that the Lord, "remembers my sins no more." I am a month from regaining my Temple Recommend and am a true testimony that people can change. Even the churches most bitter enemies can once again become friends. I have a testimony that this church is true. I may not have a perfect witness, but I do know. I have been forgiven of sins that I thought no man could be forgiven of. I was a true enemy of this church. Jesus Christ and his true disciples are merciful, for I have received their mercy. Like W.W. Phelps I have returned for the remainder of my days, never to fall away. I am just so grateful. I love the Lord and his church. I wrote this for two reasons: 1. That people will believe that change can occur, even in enemies. 2. To gather as much information about W.W. Phelps as possible. Does anybody know any talks, books or anything about W.W. Phelps?

How reliable is prayer to you?
JesusParadox replied to ZionsRodeVos's topic in LDS Gospel Discussion
It is important to remember God cares about what is eternally good for us. We on the other hand, get trapped in thinking that only what happens in this world is important. Every prayer answered, rather we like it or not, is what will better us throughout eternity. -
As far as testimony meeting, you could say the same thing about most Prophets. Why are they never mentioned? Truth is, no other prophets are as important to your testimony as Joseph Smith Jr and the current Prophet. A testimony of JS is so important because he started the restoration. A testimony of the current prophet is important because we need to follow his counsel.

My missionary asked me if I want to become a missionary
JesusParadox replied to AliiiDS's topic in General Discussion
She just loves you and wants you to experience the joy missionary work brings. All I can tell you is that you should go or you will regret it later. I know from personal experience...:) -
Prayer is based on faith. Therefore, the Temple prayer holds more power then any individual prayer. It is multiple people at the peek of their faith saying a prayer. In addition, it is the true order, in other words it has more power as it is a unity of faith. That is how it is generally speaking. Although I am not disregarding the fact that one person could have faith that surpasses a whole group. That s my .0000000000000000001 cent

There is a difference in meaning of the word and also power of the word. If believe had the power know has I think the Holy Ghost would prompt us to say that. When someone believes that is very powerful and saying it should be as powerful as saying I know. According to language believe does not have the same power as know. Therefore, the Holy Ghost uses words according to their power. Really, we do know from the Holy Ghost, just not according to world standards. That is just my apologetic argument to all those who don't like that part of testimony meeting. Just something I thought of in a few second and admit it is weak.
-
Interesting! One thing that keeps popping into my head is the listeners of a testimony. What is more powerful saying I believe or I know? The answer to me is clear, when somebody says I know it is more powerful. I don't think it is a lie to say I know when all I do is actually believe. When we say I know we are using the religious version. Which would be, we know because we have had spiritual experience and the Holy Ghost testify. That is as good as most people who bear testimonies knowledge is. It is not the same as a scientific knowledge which would be 100% with out a doubt. The English language(maybe all) is what makes us use know instead of believe. The power that I know has is how Jesus would want us to bear our testimony. I am sure he would want us to say it with as much power as possible. In short, we use know synonymously with believe because of the power the word has.

Then the judge told an outright lie... maybe I miss read it When I get back on in about an hour I will look up article for the exact quote.
-
One of the judges said something that really resonated with me. He said if it was a street fight then Paq would have won. However, it is not a street fight and they are judged round by round. There are so many variables to account for when judging each round.

Question about Becoming a High Priest?
JesusParadox replied to kpatrey's topic in General Discussion
It is interesting this topic popped up, as I have been thinking about it a lot. There is an older gentleman who attends church infrequently. I get the sense he is very uncomfortable in the elders quorum. Seeing as people around his age are High Priests. It almost makes him, as it would me, feel inferior to his peers and he is probably embarrassed. It is interesting that some stakes have policies that after a certain age they get moved to HP. I think that is a necessary policy or many older members would not attend. -
I will gracefully bow out of this post as nobody is replying to what I am saying. Yes I am drawing attention to myself so people will answer.

I think that some sin arises naturally and Satan only enhances the temptation. For instance, with men, what happens when you see a beautiful girl. We can either cultivate what happens naturally or kill it. Another example would be getting mad about a petty thing that happens in our life. We either let the Devil cultivate it or kill it. You see, from my understanding, the Devil is the one who says ooo that women is better then your wife or that petty incident is a huge deal.
-
This is interesting, thank you! Satan is the author of all sin, in the sense he was the reason for the fall. Without him tempting Adam and Eve, there would be no sin. That is why Satan was glad we fell, he made it so we could sin. This is big because Satan is only the tempter. He does not create sin out of whole cloth. As in, he uses what fell out of subjection during the fall. Which would be, our natural man tendencies. I don't believe God created us with flaws, such as anger. Those things prior to the fall were in complete subjection and thus it is our goal to put them back into subjection. That would mean anger in subjection is good, it would be called calculated anger. As far as no sinning during the millennium. It seems like the reason for no sin would be that Christ will rule and reign during the millennium. The people will have no desire to sin. An example would be that for awhile after Christ visited the Americas there was no sin. Yet, the Devil was still around to tempt.
-
They only had to be tempted by the Devil because they had not fallen yet. Since they were not fallen all their desires were in perfect place. From study I believe that all the things which tempt us from the fall can be put in perfect place. Even now they can be put in perfect place, that is our goal. Some examples would be sexual, pride, anger and all like that. Those are things that are not now in perfect order, due to the fall. Thus, even without the devil tempting us we can fall into sins like those. I think of all the people who do not have the Holy Ghost. The Devil probably does not do much tempting. They are fallen and those natural man desires arise. Unlike members of The Church who have the Holy Ghost. Which, if used correctly, should override are fallen state and lead us into a sinless life. That is where the Devil comes in, he will tempt us. Without his tempting the Holy Ghost would overpower those temptations easily.

Sealing Powers and Parental salvation?

Search The Book of Mormon, read about the Sons of Mosiah, that may shed some light on the issue. -
She was called a whore for wanting the government to pay for Birth Control? That does not make sense... It seems like the more plausible explanation would be that she was called a whore for wanting birth control.
