  1. I could really use a knee replacement that would put me out of work for quite a while. How about crowdfunding that, the unemployment, maybe a civil engineering degree and a better house to live in while I'm recovering?
  2. https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/morning-mix/wp/2016/11/10/women-in-hijabs-on-2-campuses-say-they-were-attacked-by-men-invoking-donald-trump/ Another story of violent Trump supporters turns out to be fake. As for the Chris Ball story, police say none of the local hospitals had anyone brought in with the injuries he claims, he's a filmmaker, (so would know - and have friends that know - more about makeup and special effects than most people...including things like making sure actors scheduled to bleed have some white clothes on to show the blood.) and frankly, speaking as someone who's had fairly serious scalp injuries in that area twice, it just doesn't look right.
  3. Carrot addiction? Utter inability to coordinate a colored shirt?
  4. Ever notice these kids are never born to, say, ranch hands? Must be something in the hummus.
  5. Aside from Terry Jones, how many Obama effigies were lynched in the US back in '08? What's the property damage total from Republican "peaceful protests" in the last decade?
  6. I'm skeptical of most of it. Wouldn't be the first time someone got caught faking an "atrocity" to justify their own actions in protest. OTOH, plenty of actual, verifiable illegal actions are coming from the Hillary side; obstructing roadways, vandalism, general rioting, etc.
  7. I'm a bit suspicious that the guy was supposedly knocked cold, woke up covered in that much blood, and stood there unassisted, while his buddies took a picture. A fair amount of the other stuff sounds a lot like the various false flag garbage we've seen before, with groups faking graffiti, etc. to draw attention to themselves as "victims."
  8. I didn't vote for Trump in the primaries, and that was the last time anyone other than Trump or Clinton had any real potential to win.
  9. It's all relative; the last good man to lead anything isn't ready to retake His throne quite yet, so we're stuck with a lot less. Of the ones with actual potential to be the next leader, we supported the best we could find at each stage, within the system as it exists.
  10. Unfortunately, I'm pretty sure the liberals' next move would have been to make the lazy and incompetent protected classes.
  11. Yeah, I hear that bigot Trump is proud of discriminating against people based on things like competence and work ethic. And really, it looks like the dress code for daytime domestic staff at the WH has gone downhill since Reagan.
  12. Considering the Federal government has gotten a lot less formal in recent years, (displaying a lack of respect for the various offices, IMO) I'd assume it's just a trickle down effect.
  13. Should have gone for all of them.
  14. They sure did.
  15. Probably largely because what is needed varies so much by person, location and season. More than half of my 72 hour kit would be useless to someone who hasn't done some wilderness survival training, or can't swing a hatchet effectively. Probably a third of it gets swapped out in spring and fall, since I'm unlikely to have trouble staying warm in the Texas summer, and massive amounts of water are less of a concern than extra food in winter.
  16. The burgundy varies from plain red to a garnet color, but again, it's luck of the draw. Maybe http://www.ebay.com/itm/Clearing-Out-Hero-359-Fountain-Pen-Red-Fine-Nib-With-Extra-Fine-Nib-Two-Nibs-/331226132392 I can't find the purple one available at the moment, but maybe email the seller and see if they've got a few they haven't listed yet. The boxed one seems to have the EF nib hooded, while the blister packed version is a straight up Lamy Safari knockoff with two unhooded nibs, so you'd want to clarify that and make sure you're getting a hooded EF if you decide to order one.
  17. The hooded nib fountain pens let you grip a lot closer to the point without getting ink on you, and some of the 616s are impressively fine, though some are sort of random. They're also fairly close to normal pen diameter, so no extra bulk there. See http://www.hisnibs.com/'616'_series.htm for details, though I can't see ordering from him at $15 when they're so much cheaper on eBay...and you're already buying the cheap Chinese knockoff either way, so it's not like you're risking much.
  18. Best bet: http://www.gouletpens.com/rollerball-pens/c/22 Call or email them about nib sizes. They don't seem to be listed in their tech specs, but Goulet was very helpful the times I've ordered from them. Also, you can try http://dromgooles.squarespace.com/ You'll have to call or email for most pricing there. Their exclusive Noodler's Texas blend inks are interesting too. I keep meaning to get some Pecan and Live Oak for letters. Does anybody near you use fountain pens a lot? The Pilot Vanishing Point seems to be a love-it-or-hate-it option for rollerball fans, but at $150, buying one just to try it out is a bit prohibitive. Some of the cheap hooded nib fountain pens also have a feel like a very light touch rollerball. The Hero 616 knockoffs are hit and miss, but at a buck each, you can afford to buy a handful and use the best one. http://www.ebay.com/p/hero-616-fountain-pen-hooded-golden-black-barrel-small-vintage-m8/1669122920?iid=172293796712&ul_noapp=true,true&chn=ps&lpid=82,82
  19. Never found a rollerball that was quite happy with fountain pen ink, and not too many vendors have good rollerball formulations. Now refilling the cheap disposable fountain pens is a great way to have several inks available, though some seem to get scratchy with good inks. Usually a little work with fine sandpaper will help there. FWIW, my general letter writing ink lately has been Noodler's Antietam.
  20. If you're writing an article, at least have the decency to wander through a store and gather readily available information like how much pretzels cost. I can get a pretty hefty bag of pretzel sticks at the Dollar Tree. And aside from the sodium (which, let's face it, didn't start killing people off by the millions until our lifestyles got so sedentary) they're really not bad for you. And I'm pretty sure generic Cheerios are made from the ~275lbs of Cheerio dust retrieved from each meetinghouse vacuum cleaner each week.
  21. Frankly, I'd rather see a big cooler rolled up and down the aisle and people cracking open sodas all through Sacrament meeting than the kids fighting over crayons, throwing Cheerios and toys around the room and generally acting like rabid howler monkeys while their parents do nothing.
  22. Well, maybe you don't. How is she taking it so far? Sounds like a good time to ask and be ready to listen for as long as it takes.
  23. Well duh. Being tied up in a back room and beaten by them will do that to you.
  24. And you've been worshipping at Taco Bueno ever since?
  25. Hey @prisonchaplain; I'm curious how big a stack it would be if you gathered all your sermon notes, including any books you've made sermon-related margin notes in since age 18. Just thinking of one Primitive Baptist friend here, I'm not sure his stack would fit in a single pickup load. Another who's Southern Baptist and somewhat older might be able to overload a mid-sized UHaul.
