  1. Pretty much. I tend to categorize most of the arguments the same as the people who are sure the Spirit told them to marry and then divorce someone, and it must be because there was some lesson they needed there. In all other instances we treat marriage as truly sacred, and we accept that gender is a critical element to a marriage, but then when it's convenient, suddenly we're willing to say the Lord sees it as something to be toyed with as a learning experience. Consistency would dictate that we treat such claims as tantamount to saying that someone really needed to commit a murder to progress spiritually.
  2. Nah...now if he starts hauling construction equipment up the Temple Mount...
  3. I need to get some folks together and go protest the government's constant infringement on gun rights. I mean, after all, by not buying me guns, they're denying me the right to them, aren't they? Come on MG, let's get some signs made.
  4. Yeah; my "garage apartment" is three levels when you count the garage (dirt floor, so no need to sweep or mop at least) and the loft, (which I use mostly for storage) and I still dread cleaning days. Even the ~500sf on the main living level is more than I care to vacuum.
  5. The real question is, if the compression shirt is white, will they still let you pass the Sacrament?
  6. Just wear yoga pants and compression shirts on Sundays.
  7. Location matters a lot; when my grandparents built their 3000sf 4/3 in the 60s, they already had the land, and a pretty much ideal spot with exposed bedrock to pour the foundation on. The biggest expense was blasting a hole for the septic tank and then hauling in several loads of dirt to have a yard. The 1100sf 2/2 my ex and I bought in a nice neighborhood was $120k freshly updated. For comparison, this guy's selling a 2700sf ~$300k house and a 3800sf ~$450k house in an area where average home values are $150k-200k and moving to a cheaper area so he can build bigger. The 2700sf was the one that was "too small" even before his first kid was born.
  8. Been trying to get across to one of them (who's in panic mode trying to get his next house laid out and designed) that maybe some of his marital (and general stress) issues stem from not being too thankful for the roof over his head to worry about whether 3800sf is enough room for a family of four.
  9. Darn it...of course I get paid in that time frame...was hoping I could just hand over a tenth of 3.5 days' interest on my savings account plus a couple pennies for gains on the stock I still have and call it good.
  10. I've had the displeasure of dealing with some who not only are like that, but also lecture others about how we really should live like they do because it's bad for the image of the Church to have people claiming to live righteously but not displaying the earthly rewards. Of course, these are the same people who seem to believe that HF is okay with them lying, cheating on taxes, etc. because they're sure if He wasn't He wouldn't let them prosper from it. And then I remember that my ex wife and I actually got along quite well when we were sharing a twin bed in a 550 square foot house.
  11. Of course not; their kids will need it for therapy.
  12. Why not? Sure makes it sound pretty much on par with heartfelt prayer, as something to be partaken of at every opportunity. Just be glad there's not an equivalent hymn to "Did You Think to Pray?"
  13. Yes, but since people with horrible taste in hats aren't a protected minority, you wouldn't count.
  14. Heavy duty cuddling weather. That's a bonus when you're dating. None of that coming back from an innocent walk in the park both dripping sweat, and everyone assuming you were doing a lot more than walking.
  15. "A few times a year?" Must be a lot different from Texas Pentecostals, with 3-4 altar calls any time they get together...including weddings, funerals, and bringing in a crew to remodel the building.
  16. Well, you could let 'em dunk you and see what happens.
  17. Then show them that you're capable of being happy with what you have, no matter how little it is, because of who you have. Catholics all over the world manage that one every day. Until a lot more Mormons start showing it, the Pope is still going to be making faces at the Prophet when it comes time to.tally the recuiting numbers.
  18. Last one I had was replaced as soon as someone smarter came along. I mean really...you'd think the 1997 Saturn would have been a big clue for her. As for replacing her with a younger one, that one was already pushing the half-my-age-plus-7 thing. (Yeah, not that I pay any attention to that until I'm looking for an extra excuse to get away from a crazy one.)
  19. More to the point, it's a public tantrum about one relatively small aspect of a calling. Especially with it not being the full choir, I can't imagine there being any issue if she'd simply gone to the appropriate person and said "I would really like to sit this one event out."
  20. Assign it to Harry Reid. He's got plenty to answer for anyway, so this would hardly be a footnote.
  21. Yes, but if you call the boss to start turning their spouses into pillars of salt, plaguing them with locusts and such, they might find it harder to keep denying the issue.
  22. http://www.nj.com/hudson/index.ssf/2016/12/case_of_transgender_boy_barred_from_cub_scouts_in.html Transgender 8 year old?
  23. Unfortunately, the last solid research was done by the Nazis. Nobody since has been willing to test it fully in a proper research format.
  24. We're talking about in reality, not Seattle.
  25. How closely supervised are ministering angels?
