  1. I don't know....but I don't claim that God must be at least 6" tall! no problem Better watch out...Desiré might take away my title and call you the "King of Asking the Same questions" But I'll try again... 1 God the Father 2 Jesus the Son 3 and the Holy Spirit Throughout the Bible are spoken of as both seperate beings (I think you can agree with that, or else why would they have different names?) And also, all three are spoken of as equal to God..., in some cases the names are used interchangeably, and in some cases they flat out claim to be the same "being" To complicate things further...again and again through out scripture we are told there is only one God. How can all of this be true? How can there be One God, Three distinct persons, and how can they be the same? #1 Somewhere God, or Jesus lied #2 or you believe in the concept of the Trinity which is that The Bible clearly speaks of God the Father, God the Son (Jesus Christ), and God the Holy Spirit...and also clearly presents that there is only one God. Thus the term: "Tri" meaning three, and "Unity" meaning one, Tri+Unity = Trinity. It is a way of acknowledging what the Bible reveals to us about God, that God is yet three "Persons" who have the same essence of deity." ...very funny Of course If I was the person who's faith is based on "feeling" "God" I wouldn't want to think about Satan playing mind games..... Josh B)
  2. I liked it.......what book would you suggest from the opposite point of view? Josh B)
  3. There is only one "hebrew" translation (and greek for the NT I know)...it is the translating into english from which the different versions appear. Becuase it clearly dosn't make sense, I've never heard anyone preach on the verses...why would I? It is confusing to itself, the Bible and logic!
  4. I was under the impression that to "become a god" you needed to preform certain temple ceromonies that would require a body, and a temple...How did Jesus become a "god" in "pre-mortal existence" without preforming these, if that is true? Josh B)
  5. What is this "first estate" was in on a different planet? Josh B)
  6. Allow me to explain the bigger picture: God the Father, was once a man. He earned His salvation on another world by submitting Himself to the laws His Father in Heaven laid out for Him. When He attained to a state of Godhood, He was still subject to those laws His Father in Heaven laid out for Him; and likewise His "GrandFather" in Heaven, and on up into eternity. Meaning all Gods are subject to the laws of Heaven. Our Father in Heaven, upon attaining to a state of Godhood, began to produce offspring; "spirit chidren". The first of which is Jesus Christ; and all of us were born afterwards. Jesus, because He kept His first estate more perfectly than the rest of us, was given this world; as His Father has many more worlds than just this one. So our times to come here were alotted us, as well as Jesus' time. So Jesus, being responsible for this world, and out of His great love for his younger brothers and sisters, could see that a price was going to be required in order that we would all have the opportunity for salvation. Thus, He stepped in to pay that price. Keep in mind, all of this took place before this world was even created. He would have come to this Earth and recieved a body whether He volunteered to be our Saviour or not. His willingness to pay that price did not, by any means, releive Him of any obligations to abide by the laws of Heaven; but only increased the need for Him to abide by those laws even more perfect than ever. Just the same as a police officer is held to a higher standard when it comes to abiding by civil laws. I hope this helps you to better understand my point of view. L.H. So your saying....Jesus is not a God? He is going to be a God someday...but as for now...He's just God's son...(like me) Josh B)
  7. ok...now I will be the only one confused.... You follow one God, ok how many "gods" exist? Please answer in number form...(e.g. 1,2,3, 3+) Take your time........
  8. Let me try again, one point at a time. How many "gods" are there Desiré? Josh What makes you think the Bible was not translated correctly? Thankfully, the Lord didn't come and take away the Bible for an unknown reason. I've read all the verses that "prophecy" the comming of the Book of Mormon, and honestly I can't believe anyone can believe that (if you would like to disscuss it prehaps you could start another thread?) Look, I don't care if you believe me or not, but I studied (and continue to study) the LDS faith with as much of an open mind as I can....and never have I seen doctrine more confusing, and more contradictive. Josh B)
  9. Let me try again, one point at a time. How many "gods" are there Desiré? Josh
  10. No I don't! yes...you do...ask Brother Dorsey! He just said it! I believe the Holy Spirit was in Jesus (who is God) actually you don't believe He could Doctrine’s & Covenants 130:3 The appearing of the Father and the Son, in that verse, is a personal bappearance; and the idea that the Father and the Son cdwell in a man’s heart is an old sectarian notion, and is false." Josh B)
  11. You only follow one god...but you believe many exist. I think I will call you the Queen half answered answers........... The Holy Spirit was in Him....how could God (who you say is a distinct person with His own body, be "in" someone? Josh B)
  12. How did He become a god....on the other thread you said they were all gods... Josh B)
  13. Then how did He "become" a god? Josh B)
  14. Where did the first God come from? What scriptures back up this "mindboggling" claim? And how to you explain all the verses that say: "I am the LORD, and there is no other; Besides Me there is no God." (Isa. 45:5)? Josh B)
  15. Thank you so much :) ....you really don't know what that means to me :) Josh B)
  16. Sorry, but I'm confused...we agree that Jesus came to "take away the sins of the world" what is your point? Josh B)
  17. For once I think I completely agree with Desiré Not that you're insane...but that trying again won't make it work...why do you think China is becoming more free market? I really cannot recomend "Basic Economics" enough...its really one of my favorite books Josh B)
  18. Look, for the sake of the argument, lets say I agree with you that we could become "gods" not equel to God of course, but gods....That still dosen't explain the mormon teaching that God had a god. even if you go so far as to say that there is no trinity...certainly it is clear there are no more than God, Holy Spirit, and Jesus... Please explain. they are sperate, yet equal.... * Jesus said: "I and the Father are one." (John 10:30) He also said "I AM" Josh B) What would make you think it purpose? does it say "The Father, and the Son, and the Holy Ghost have the same goals..." I don't understand what would make you think that? Josh B)
  19. look it up...I'm pretty sure.... Josh B) Brother D, I will reply to your post as so as I can...I have to make lunch for my sister..brb
  20. Alright...since you obviously want to leave a loophole open so you can kill me... If an angel tells you so...that's fine. Josh B)
  21. You're welcome, :) and its not that it would be "impossible" to run...it just wouldn't work near as well... I think one on my favorite quotes sums it up pretty well... The inherent vice of capitalism is the unequal sharing of the blessings. The inherent blessing of socialism is the equal sharing of misery. – Winston Churchill Josh B)
  22. It is my understanding that Mormons believe God came from a god, who came from a god...and so on.... and one day...we will all become gods, and have other gods.... correct me If I'm wrong.....( I know you just love doing that ) Josh B)
  23. Actually, you don't. You might not "worship" other gods...but you do believe they exist... Eternal progression? sound familier? Josh B)
  24. not "feel about" god... you believe God is telling you something because you feel it... and didn't you read the last part? "(I'm just teasing you guys...if I though you might kill me...I would have changed my name and left the country yesterday....)" Josh B)
  25. Let me see If I understand you correctly... Your prophets says there is not a contrdiction between your belief in "many gods", that Jesus, The Father, and Holy Spirit are different people, So you say that "Hear, O Israel! The LORD is our God, the LORD is one!" (Deut. 6:4) * "I am the LORD, and there is no other; Besides Me there is no God." (Isa. 45:5) * There is no God but one. (1Cor. 8:4) * Jesus said: "I and the Father are one." (John 10:30) * "He who has seen Me has seen the Father." (John 14:9) * "He who beholds Me beholds the One who sent Me." (John 12:45) * "Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary as your wife; for that which has been conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit." (Matt. 1:20) * And the angel answered and said to her [Mary], "The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; and for that reason the holy offspring shall be called the Son of God." (Luke 1:35) * [Jesus speaking to His disciples] "And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may be with you forever; the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it does not behold Him or know Him, but you know Him because He abides with you, and will be in you." ... "If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him, and make Our abode with him." (John 14:16-17, 23) could be taken differently then what they clearly say? Please be specific, how could these verses be taken otherwise? Josh B) How to I explain the baptism of Jesus...The only way it can be explained it light of the other scriptures: "trinity" is a term that is not found in the Bible but a word used to describe what is apparent about God in the Scriptures. The Bible clearly speaks of God the Father, God the Son (Jesus Christ), and God the Holy Spirit...and also clearly presents that there is only one God. Thus the term: "Tri" meaning three, and "Unity" meaning one, Tri+Unity = Trinity. It is a way of acknowledging what the Bible reveals to us about God, that God is yet three "Persons" who have the same essence of deity."
