  1. Hi. I'm the tech guy. We have had a MormonHub mobile app on and off the backburner. But we haven't had any plans in the near future for integrating the forums into it. While I agree that push notifications and such would be sweet, the amount of effort that would require to build and maintain that over what other things I could do is just not a priority currently (sorry ) , but I hope one day the forums get enough traction to merit that sort of special attention . Don't get me wrong, you guys are great, and good things happen on the forums all the time, but, tech resources are currently better spent on a number of other projects currently that will get more bang for our buck for spreading the gospel online. Also, its just little ol' me maintaining and updating and coding for 100+ websites all the time (among other things). I work on the app occasionally, but other things are higher priority most of the time so, its very slow going. If you want to throw out app ideas, I'll read em no promises they'll ever get implemented though, but always looking for inspiration.
  2. @Carborendum I just added a "back to top" link at the bottom of the site, and a floating back to top button. That work?
  3. You know what @JohnsonJones, you may have given me an idea. Will be a while before I try it though. But it would be something like what you asked about.
  4. If I wrote this myself, I would 100% do that. But since I didn't it becomes a lot more complicated to try and modify not only the chat software, but the forum software as well, and, I sadly don't have time to do that and to keep it updated. Sorry! Maybe someday, but not soon.
  5. Sounds a little grainy. There's a like.. staticy noise in it.
  6. Yeah I realize that, and hopefully the software devs will fix the bug someday.
  7. Okay so, the popups only happen when you load/reload a page. Its... hyper annoying... may have to remove the little chat window from the main site 😢 Edit: I have removed the small chat window from the main site due to a bug where a whole bunch of chat windows would be popped up every time you reload or load a page.
  8. I'm also taking suggestions for a notification sound that doesn't make your heart skip a beat (goodness gracious is it loud) Edit: Changed it to more of a bell sound.
  9. Right now Pam and I are noticing that if you use the chat page that it makes all sorts of annoying windows on the bottom right corner chat.. which is.. way annoying. Edit: Just changed some settings to see if it helps
  10. @pam may want to comment but, we found something that was inexpensive that we thought might work so, we're trying it. I'd like to point out the Blocking feature: Hit the right arrow at the top of a one on one chat and choose "block user". So if there's someone you don't get along with, you don't have to hear from them. I'll be honest, this is new software so, not sure how this would affect seeing them in public groups or not. In other completely random news, I have also enabled "login with google". If you have a google account but its not the email you have associated with your forums account, I *think* you can still enable it if you wish in Account Settings -> Google Also, if anyone actually uses or wants to test the facebook/twitter login methods, I'd be interested in hearing from you. I don't even know if they actually work.
  11. My advice would be to schedule it a little bit before church. Doesn't have to be at the church building either, someone's house is fine. Depending on how spread out geographically the ward is, leave some time for people to be able to go home and pick up the rest of their family and take them to church. Or if you do have it at the church building in an empty room (with a piano probably) then some people might just bring their family early.. just kinda depends. Yes they may have to eat lunch earlier to make it to choir but... People will just have to deal with that reality.
  12. We'll be having a conversation at some point about the reactions. But have other priorities to work out first. We will read feedback and take it into consideration in the meantime.
  13. So, if we could get a few shoutouts from ppl that are able to login it would make me feel better like its working lol
  14. TL;DR; In order to fix login issues, a lot of people will have to reset their password. As of now, if you are unable to login, please attempt a "Forgot Password"/"Password Reset" (check your spam folder) and if that doesn't work then feel free to Contact Us, for help and please check back on this post for any status updates and FAQs as we go through this process. FAQ: [Reserved Space] Firstly, I'd like to apologize on behalf of MormonHub for the frustration of the login system. There is a lot of cool things we could do with the login system, and having the logins synced up between our forum system and our front end system has been nice, but for multiple reasons (not just the current login issues), we have decided to move back to the earlier login system. While I would love to be able to migrate everyone's current passwords back, but the systems are just not compatible that way. So a large number of users will need to do a password reset. We realize that we forced everyone to do this on the move to the new system, and we sincerely apologize to everyone that will have to do it again. The Login System has now been swapped over. Give us a little bit of time to work out kinks in the system (will post updates here). If you are unable to login anymore, then please perform a password reset (check spam folder) and if that fails and we don't have any acknowledgement of problems on this post (No known problems at this time), then feel free to contact us (keeping in mind that there are a lot of you and very few of us). Note that we realize the inconvenience that this has been and will be as we work out the kinks, and I encourage everyone to try and keep questions and comments below as constructive as possible (although we know that we can't reasonably expect a salt free experience, but we appreciate any efforts you all put in to try)
  15. Hey, one of the powers that be dropping in to give you all an update. I will be making a couple of announcement posts in a moment concerning logins.
  16. In the meantime, I have made a few adjustments to the amount of white. Let me know if its better, or if there are particular page types that may need some help. Note: Just because you express your opinion doesn't mean I'll do anything, but I'll take it under advisement
  17. The visual update is simply a part of the latest update. We jumped a Minor version update that included some design tweaks. I'm currently back and forth with the software support team figuring out whats wrong with both view counts and logins.
  18. Seems to me she is simply confusing the sin with the sinner. As for what doctrine or talk you could use in your discussion with her, anything that talks about loving your neighbor could be appropriate. This talk in particular could be useful though: https://www.lds.org/general-conference/2014/10/loving-others-and-living-with-differences?lang=eng @Sunday21 If you read the rest he also discusses same-sex attraction some more if you read more of the talk. I also know that Elder Uchtdorf has been quoted in the news as stating that we ought not belittle gays. And we should love all of God's children" http://archive.sltrib.com/story.php?ref=/sltrib/news/50537493-78/uchtdorf-church-lds-sex.html.csp I haven't found anything terribly "church official" though. Anyway, I find it to be fairly straightforward to discuss doctrine indicating that we should show christlike love toward a gay coworker. On the other hand it can be a much more complicated discussion to try and talk about things like "My son has invited me to his gay wedding, should I go?"
  19. Update: Just updated the forums to 4.1.17.1 from 4.1.14.3 Highlights: Performance improvements on activity streams Remember me cookie is now 90 days rather than 7 days The editor will now show a message if a link that can be embedded (image, video, etc.) failed to embed for some reason.
