  1. "The Last Jedi" I didn't tank it outright, but once you sat back and reflected on everything it was pretty dire.
  2. There's always Food Network - http://www.foodnetwork.com/healthy
  3. Do you have the patience for papercraft? I ask as Canon has a papercraft website up, with the bulk of it being available for free. 4. I felt it could actually be *longer*. As in, "TV mini-series". That would have been more time to fully flesh things out, especially in the second half where they used all of the montages and jump cuts.
  5. Disney's "The Black Cauldron" While the film itself is beautifully animated - such that it's a testament to what the animators of the day could do - it's also such an absolutely awful adaptation that you can understand how the film failed hard enough to nearly take Disney's entire animated film division with it.
  6. "The Star" (2017) Good for kids, but parents might want something a little more interesting later on.
  7. Disney's "Coco". It's a decent enough movie, but the same crowd who wouldn't see through the plot twists is the same crowd who the film might be too intense for.
  8. "Justice League" Better than the theatrical cut of "Batman vs. Superman", but then again that's a low bar to clear.
  9. 60% of my monthly pay is going to a trash fire of a "Bronze" policy so bad that I had to shell out $2200 for a mere kidney stone. This policy is being eliminated, and my only alternatives had *higher* premiums and *higher* deductibles for less care. Yeah - the "Affordable" Care Act is bankrupting me.
  10. "Murder On The Orient Express" (2017 version) It's a slow burn, so you have to be patient with it.
  11. https://www.wsj.com/articles/u-s-military-failed-to-send-texas-gunmans-conviction-record-to-fbi-1510009446 His domestic assault conviction *and* dishonorable discharge should have denied him the right to own a firearm under Texas law, but the Air Force never filed the paperwork with the FBI and so none of his background checks flagged him.
  12. Actually, it's the corruption and ignorance I'm going after. ...And to be brutally honest, I'm not the one who fired the first shot. It'd chill your blood if you read any of the flak I've gotten over the years for not going with the flow on some things. Me: "That person you're all listening to and nodding? One of the arguments she made is based on what appears to be her not being familiar with the particular law she's referencing. Here's the actual text of the law, here's the interpretations of two law firms and a criminal justice professor, and here's how people in the actual jurisdiction understand it. As we can plainly see, the law doesn't allow for what she says it allows for, and so the consequences of the hypothetical raised are 180 from what she says they supposedly are." Speaker's defenders: "You dare to question a woman?! Go kill yourself!" -> paraphrase of a blow-up that happened back in September.
  13. One of the big issues with the modern-day "feminist" movement is that a rather distinct "us vs. them" mentality has emerged among many of the practitioners. This has allowed con artists, predators, and others to infiltrate the movement, as all they've got to do is say the right things, play to the right fears, claim the right enemies, and they're golden. They're now an "us", so they're accepted without question. Hence the viper's nest that has taken up residence in the larger movement.
  14. Kolpakov was just the tip of the iceberg. His actions brought the "male feminist" movement under tighter scrutiny, and the results were devastating. Remember Gamergate? The movement that all "good" people online and in the media were denouncing as sexist? Sixteen of the loudest "male feminists" who rose up to fight it have since been hit with allegations of sexual assault, many of them facing actual criminal charges as a result. Most recently, "progressive" online community Neogaf's gone down in flames after its head honcho was added to the list. Between them, Kolpakov, and a number of other high-profile "male feminists", in the three years since Gamergate we've basically averaged one prominent "male feminist" a month being outed as a predator. Nor was Kolpakov the only substance abuser among that number; among other things, one guy has since had to admit that he's such a severe alcoholic he can't remember what happens when he drinks, and so he can't even begin to muster a defense to all the allegations of what he's done while sauced.
  15. Actually sat through it this morning... the parts I stayed awake for, at least. There were four speakers, and the bulk of it was about the recent hurricanes and the various relief efforts that were undertaken in their wake. In a nutshell, while the speakers praised everyone who helped out with refugees and the recovery effort, it was noted that there's a lot we need to be doing on a daily basis to help others; it shouldn't take a hurricane to get people up and moving.
  16. http://www.denverpost.com/2017/05/15/mesa-county-shooting-suspect/ Online, Kolpakov was known as "Russian Deadpool" and was a member of the "Skeptic Feminist" group. He was a regular on YouTube, and frequently feuded with people who he disagreed with; a few months back he actually threatened a YouTube host named "Bearing" with physical violence. Kolpakov's story, as he told others, was that he was a combat veteran whose dabbling in various mind-altering substances was his way of dealing with PTSD. He was so slick and such a charmer that he managed to land two girlfriends, neither of whom - nor anyone else - questioned why a man who supposedly had PTSD and who was known to be on mind-altering substances had guns. One of the two girlfriends came from a religious family. When they heard about what was going on, they became terrified for her well-being and so lured her back home a few states away to get her away from him. While she was gone, Kolpakov did a live-stream with the other girlfriend in which the pair did mushrooms. The stream became increasingly more bizarre as time went on, and ultimately ended prematurely. The news report you see above was put out the next day. Apparently, while under the influence of the mushrooms he became incredibly paranoid about the prospect of the girlfriend he was with intending to harm him, and so he grabbed a gun and chased after her. One of Kolpakov's followers tried to bolster the whole "PTSD" angle by digitizing copies of his military records and posting them online. The follower apparently failed to realize that the documents contained sensitive identifying information, and so failed to censor it. Someone who was active-duty military spotted this and used his information to pull his full set of military records... and discovered that Kolpakov had been lying through his teeth the entire time. You see, Kolpakov couldn't have had combat-related PTSD because... he never saw combat. I'm trying to remember the details (most of the people who were active in following this tend to use salty language, so I can't post the videos here), but basically the guy was attached to a reserve unit while undergoing training; this was further highlighted when a supposed photo of him geared up while deployed showed him with obsolete gear that the active military no longer used; only reserve units still used it at the time the photo was supposedly taken. So not only did the guy never deploy, he was straight up non-deployable. His whole "macho male feminist" bit was built on stolen valor. So... yeah. "Male feminism" has a body count, courtesy of a lying, substance-abusing predator.
  17. Super-duper nutshell? Since a certain happening that took place in August 2014, self-avowed "male feminists" are now greeted as warmly as "angsty teenagers in black trench coats" were greeted post-Columbine. And yes, both groups have a body count...
  18. Thor: Ragnarok Too little time to cover too much ground.
  19. I could go explain a few, but that would depend upon what the mods are willing to let me discuss given how sensitive some of the subject matter is.
  20. "Thank You For Your Service" This one actually tells it like it is when it comes to what soldiers face when they try to come home.
  21. Only The Brave. It's rare to see a movie be this respectful of such subject matter.
  22. "The Foreigner" It's a slow burn at first, but generally worth the wait.
  23. My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic You'd do well to track down the "prequel" comic book series for the supplementary information, but beyond that it's fun and has better animation that even some Disney movies.
  24. Themiscyra goes back to the original mythology as presented in the comic books, and if memory serves the title is old enough to where yes, she *did* fight in WWII *as it happened*, just like Superman, Batman, and a number of other comic heroes of the day. That's just part of the history of the character.
