  1. I remember when I first joined the Church a couple years ago. I was "shocked" to see all the kiddies running around, throwing cheerios at each other etc. Having grown children, I just kind forgot about those things. Noticing that most Sundays it was the same mothers that always got up and missed out on the meeting I decided to do something about it. The next Sunday when a child would seem out of control, I just quietly got up and took the child out of the room. This way the rest of their family enjoyed the service and I did as well, performing MY service. I didn't miss out on too many services doing this as most of the time the "offending" children would just come and sit with me. Worked for all of us. Marsha

  3. Thank all of you for your birthday wishes. The day ended up great. My teenage daughter fixed me a special dinner, she bought all the fixings, along with some rich cheesecake for dessert.
  4. I think it is "doing busines on Sunday." I am sure others will be by shortly with a yet different answer! Marsha
  5. Jenda, Thank you! So far I have gone to court this morning (speeding ticket). I have had cards and flowers delivered. And the day has just begun. Marsha
  6. There was some interest. Like Bat, I have been there a few times but no one else was.

  8. HEY -- I live in Northern Indiana.
  9. This is one of the "bat-i-est" threads I have seen.
  10. Still trying to figure out why this is on the Gospel Discussion Board?
  11. Marsha is here. Winnie, you can always get a prepaid credit card just for the trip. You put on the amount of money that you want to spend and use it. Most motels/hotels prefer cc's to cash. I know that Motel 6 will let you prepay. Some don't as if there is anything wrong with the room when you leave they have no way of getting their money. Also they use it for Long distance charges. Once when I managed a motel in FL, the guest took the TV! He paid dearly for that 19" tv -- to the tune of $695.00. He didn't dare dispute that one on his credit card. Bet he never took another one either! Marsha
  12. Geez guys. Did I really sound that un-calm? I wasn't being serious. My fault for failing to use the winkie guy. It was a thought-provoking poem. Thanks! Shantress, No Problem. It is hard to "hear"or "see" - heck it is impossible - peoples emotions, thoughts, voice tone on the internet. Hoping that you ae a great day. Marsha
  13. Never said that, only pointed out that there are people from all walks that come here. But of course we already know that. Have a good day.
  14. Thanks. Didn't really mean to be depressing - just a reality. I gave a copy to my daughter who is turning 18 and getting ready to drive.
  15. You are quite welcome.... Maybe a dose of reality will make someone think before drinking and driving. I know, this is a LDS site, but non-members also come here and read/post.The subtitle did say SAD. If you want HAPPY then skip over it....you were warned. You chose to read. BTW, get up on the wrong side of the bed did ya? Chill out.
  16. WENT TO A PARTY, MOM I went to a party, And remembered what you said. You told me not to drink, Mom So I had a sprite instead. I felt proud of myself, The way you said I would, That I didn't drink and drive, Though some friends said I should. I made a healthy choice, And your advice to me was right, The party finally ended, And the kids drove out of sight. I got into my car, Sure to get home in one piece, I never knew what was coming, Mom Something I expected least. Now I'm lying on the pavement, And I hear the policeman say, The kid that caused this wreck was drunk, Mom, his voice seems far away. My own blood's all around me, As I try hard not to cry. I can hear the paramedic say, This girl is going to die. I'm sure the guy had no idea, While he was flying high, Because he chose to drink and drive, Now I would have to die. So why do people do it, Mom Knowing that it ruins lives? And now the pain is cutting me, Like a hundred stabbing knives. Tell sister not to be afraid, Mom Tell daddy to be brave, And when I go to heaven, Put Daddy's Girl on my grave. Someone should have taught him, That it's wrong to drink and drive. Maybe if his parents had, I'd still be alive. My breath is getting shorter, Mom I'm getting really scared. These are my final moments, And I'm so unprepared. I wish that you could hold me Mom, As I lie here and die.
  17. Bat, what is your avatar a pic of?
  18. is there something in your personality that compels you to just be rude and beligerent? yes, my children will be raised LDS..that's kind of the point of being an LDS family...and i EXPECT my children to serve missions just as i EXPECT my children to get straight a's, full scholarships to the college of their choosing, marry in the temple and live long and happy lives... if they don't, they don't...but i will raise them with my expectations, just as every single parent on this earth does...that's part of parenting... Congrats....... This is your first? Hey, we all have high hopes and expectations for our children. Truth be known, those get dashed in real life. There are always disappointments, both on the part of the child AND the parents. Just take it one day at a time, what happens, happens. Bat is right when he says that you can't tell an adult child what to do anymore...if you do that you will surely lose them. Marsha
  19. ummmmmmm Bat never left the Church formally, he is an inactive member. There is still hope for him.
  20. hmmmm......... I haven't been a moderator or admin on this site for quite awhile, but I think that Kevin has hit it right in the bullseye. Not sure what you are "reading'' between the lines, but he is saying the same thing that the moderators here and Heather has said for a long time. Marsha
  21. .Agreed, who wants to post when they are "threatened" ... all I did was confront a moderator to be placed on moderator status, then the moderator says, "I didn't do it!" okay. Who wants to post when they are "threatened" and not lied to. ~serapha~ ON and ON and ON and ON. You guys have to remember this is a public forum, owned by an individual. It is not your "right" to post here.... more like an invite. The moderators here do their best to rule under the guidelines of the owner. When you registered, there were rules posted. If you don't think that you can abide by them then this isn't the place for you. Being a moderator is a thankless unpaid job. Been there, done that. If you don't like how it is run then you are always free to go elsewhere. Why 'beat an old horse'?
  22. I really like the table You do really good work.
