  1. Do you have any context for this? What was his issue? Also, it seems Mormonheart has been banned.
  2. "Properly understood, then, the scriptures counsel us to be virtuous not because romantic love is bad, but precisely because romantic love is so good. It is not only good; it is pure, precious, even sacred and holy. For that reason, one of Satan’s cheapest and dirtiest tricks is to make profane that which is sacred. Building on a metaphor from President Harold B. Lee, it is as though Satan holds up to the world a degraded image of sexual love suggested by imagining the drunken, boisterous laughter of filthy men in a brothel, located on some crowded, dusty highway of life, where the flower of fair womanhood is jeered at, dirtied, brutalized, and ultimately crushed with unclean hands. Meanwhile, far, far away from the madding crowd, high up in the cool protected valleys of tall mountains, grows the priceless flower of virtue—untarnished, pure, and unsullied. It waits as a noble prize for those valiant few who are willing to climb to its heights by paying the price of patience, obedience, and a lifetime of devotion—an endless, unselfish loyalty to spouse and children." https://speeches.byu.edu/talks/bruce-c-hafen_gospel-romantic-love/
  3. The problem with the superposition is that the photograph seems to be slightly transparent which allowed the painting to slightly influence the face.
  4. "... they shall pass by the angels, and the gods, which are set there, to their exaltation and glory in all things, as hath been sealed upon their heads, which glory shall be a fulness and a continuation of the seeds forever and ever." "... they are given unto him to multiply and replenish the earth, according to my commandment, and to fulfil the promise which was given by my Father before the foundation of the world, and for their exaltation in the eternal worlds, that they may bear the souls of men; ..." "... Then shall they be gods, because they have no end; therefore shall they be from everlasting to everlasting, because they continue; ..." - D&C 132:19-20,63
  5. The Leftist program deems it "homophobic" to suggest there's anything undesirable about homosexuality and that it should be changed. I'm completely anonymous so I'm not concerned sharing this. In my own experience homosexuality is deviancy from regular sexuality caused by environment and stimuli. In my own case the environment and stimuli was first chronic masturbation since age 6 and then a pornography addiction since age 15. These things made me hypersexual (a huge pervert) and I desired more extremeness. Having become bored of "straight" porn, I found myself looking at gay porn, and thereafter more and more frequently. To cut that short, it got to the point where the manner of my perversion resembled that of a San Francisco queer in the 70's (in case you don't know what that means, it's bad.) It would have been the easiest thing in the world to imagine someone catching a bias against regular sexuality early (for a variety of reasons) and growing up to call themselves "gay" or "born this way." It would have also been the easiest thing in the world for me to become a queen with very little mental gymnastics had I not been taught the gospel in my youth. Because I was taught the gospel I was able the avoid being deceived by sodomite fads and believe things like "Oh, I feel sexual towards men, I must be gay." I knew better. Because I knew better I never jettisoned my natural attraction for women, no matter how buried by deviancy it got. Because of the enabling power of the atonement I was able to rediscover the correct feelings, those of the Cestial order. Having struggled to get away from porn and masturbation, I found myself admiring women more. Until one night, it was like the dawn. I learned new (or perhaps forgotten) feelings towards women and a new view which was unlike anything I had supposed. It was as though the Holy Ghost had established his Fortress in the dark, mountainous crags of my abused mind and I couldn't help but behold. I won't deny the complexity of human things and assume that my experience explains other people's conditions. But I also won't deny that we aren't all that different and the feelings and process may not be all that different.
  6. Could it be a daguerreotype? Apparently those are supposed to have sharp detail. Here's a picture of it not zoomed in, It looks black and white in this image. (In case you didn't watch the video, it claims the man on the left is Brigham Young. According to the video they were found together.)
  7. Thank you for pointing that out, dictation can be a slippery thing.
  8. I kill roaches that I find in my house because the last thing I want is for them to reproduce. However, there was this one time I was looking through an old box and I found a live roach inside. A vile and hideous thing, but I couldn't bring myself to kill it because it was "trapped."
  9. I can't even find a source for the top picture. The video claims it was found in Missouri but I can't find anything about it on the Internet. Or any images of it that aren't associated with the video.
  10. I agree. But seriously wouldn't there be something off with his face if he fell from a second-story window and (I assume) had rigor mortis during the casting of the death mask?
  11. I thought his only son into adulthood was Joseph Smith III. I googled it and that's also what it said, Google sucks (or perhaps I suck at Google.)
  12. As far as I know FLDS broke away from the church when it ended polygamy.
  13. To my understanding Joseph Smith only ever had one son that lived passed childhood. And there's not much evidence that he had sons with his other wives.
  14. I don't consider the death mask a completely accurate depiction of his face considering he fell from a window and was dead (hence, death mask.) I think the lips in both photos and on the death mask are very similar (I don't think the lips would be all that compromised.)
  15. Seems like it could be him. The darks areas around his cheeks and chin could be from when he was tarred and feathered. There's another photo which is supposed to be Joseph Smith, according to an RLDS archivist, "90% certainty." What do you think? Are either of these photos of the Prophet?
  16. Relax, don't think about it too much. I threw in those parentheses at the last second thinking "or could be that." But when you have people like Brigham Young and Wilford Woodruff believing that God is increasing in knowledge, that's what I hear in the song.
  17. I assumed he wrote that because he was one of "those people" who thought that God was increasing His knowledge.
  18. I didn't say he was messed up in the head. Whatever the reason he said it, it doesn't seem to be present in the text.
  19. Hymns never were doctrine. For example, the Mormon national anthem says that God's knowledge and power are expanding. When the Scriptures are clear that he is omniscient and omnipotent. (Or maybe it just means that the knowledge of God and the power of God is expanding among men)
  20. Where in the passage do you think it's speaking of food preservation? Do you think it saying to preserve meat for "times of hunger, cold, or famine?"
  21. Grandma second I think it speaks mostly to becoming a vegetarian anyway. I'm not sure what food preservation has to do with it.
  22. Funny thing about chocolate. My grandma stopped eating chocolate because she says there's caffeine in it.
  23. That's a good question, I'm not well read enough to answer that or to know where to look. But here's my guess. Since the millennium is still an age of the earth, I would assume those resurrected with Christ Will stay in heaven and those resurrected at the second coming will be the ones who live in the earth during the millennium, and I would assume they have children during this time as well. At the end of the millennium there will be the battle of the Great God wherein Satan has gotten his foot back into the door and is rounding up as many people as he can possibly get in the millennial earth and Michael gathers his host. And then I guess they duke it out. As for animals, I see no reason why there wouldn't be.
  24. As Mormon said, "And if there be faults they be the faults of a man." Or in this case, dictation.
