  1. Well, you didn’t need to share it to the online world if you truly believed he shouldn’t have shared it with you. That’s not cool.
  2. A big part of the male ordination is for structure and order. Yeah, you probably could do everything you do without a formal ordination but you would be removing yourself from the established order. We shouldn’t down play ourselves because we’re not playing a role we think is distinguished. just like women shouldn’t down play their feminine qualities and nature if they are not in a position of wife or mother. Men are ordained. It’s pretty important. Hey, even if I don’t make it to the temple having that recommend means a lot.
  3. Actually, the temple session does leave an impression of me that maybe there were other people. I have no idea and it doesn’t really make a difference for me. Just sharing a different perspective on the matter.
  4. I heard a Rabbi speak on the eating of the fruit in the garden and he gave the perspective of God asking Eve “how did you know I wanted you to eat of the fruit”? Instead of assuming God was upset as is the typical interpretation. He also mentioned that Adam and Eve were sent because this world needed them (us). This world was fallen and needed to be “saved” in a sense by having good people come down and fix it. So they fell, as they were sent to do, to bring this world up. The earth does need to go through the stages as well and can’t really do that without the plan taking place on it. So I can see the Rabbi’s interpretation as warranting some consideration. Rabbi Manis Friedman is who I am referring to.
  5. True. We do need each other and we’re made to compliment. My statement was just just to show that we cannot place one value of either males or females to show superiority over the other. So if we believe in superior/inferior then we have some major problems. We each have qualities that are important and vital and shouldn’t diminish the opposite sex in anyway. We’re equal, but different and really have zero business competing or comparing.
  6. I said “IF” so if this is bull crap then you are on the right track of knowing that men and women are not a relation of superior/inferior.
  7. “The Biblical pattern for male and female is equality of worth at the same time as difference of role in the family, in the church and in society. These are complementary -not contradictory – principles. The great lie of feminism, and modern definitions of discrimination, is the assertion that equality of worth cannot exist at the same time as differentiation of role. The great lie of male chauvinism is the assertion that differentiation of role cannot exist at the same time as equality of worth. The quarrels of both feminism and chauvinism then are not essentially with each other but really with the Biblical pattern; for both are unwilling to hold both principles in Biblical balance, but insist on either of the principles to the exclusion, in totality or in part, of the other.” https://www.fpchurch.org.uk/about-us/what-we-contend-for/distinctions-between-male-and-female/men-and-women-equal-in-value/ thought this was pretty good addressing both sides of the debate today.
  8. Galatians 3 28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus. 29 And if ye be Christ’s, then are ye Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise. D&C 88 107 And then shall the angels be crowned with the glory of his might, and the saints shall be filled with his glory, and receive their inheritance and be made equal with him. men and women are equal. Same? Absolutely not. Is one better than the other? Not actually possible by nature of gender only maybe by their righteousness. if we can all be made equal with Christ, who is equal to God then we are seen as equals in the eyes of both God and Christ. I have seen this equality debate elsewhere and those who say we are not equal really just seem to be fighting the narrative that we are all the same and there are no differences. Truth is, we have to be equal. If anyone is superior, it’s women because they create life. We’re different, but equal.
  9. We need to read this in the historical context it was written. Frankly, this is not a custom in many places - the head covering stuff. i also do not believe it means what it has traditionally been interpreted to mean and that’s because we do not consider the context or culture. Woman being the glory of man is being forgotten in today’s world. It means that man glories (honors, has pride in) in women like Paul when he said the Thessalonians were his glory and joy. 1 Thess:20 For ye are our glory and joy. God glories in Christ, Christ glories in man, man glories in woman. Seems pretty fitting to me its really not about authority.
  10. Maybe believing every action we do as either men or women as some action of “priesthood power or authority” is causing some of the confusion. women “having” access to the priesthood can be as simple as women do not have to visit a special exit on the road to reach God and can ask him directly for HIS hand to intervene. They don’t need to seek approval or work through male leadership to expound scriptures or teach or preach the gospel. To me, it’s just giving women their rightful place as equal children of God and disciples of Christ. Men will officiate and perform ordinances and outside of that, we’re both the same regarding access to priesthood power that belongs to God. Few men actually have priesthood keys. Whenever someone acts on behalf of what God wants then they are essentially accessing and using that power. Thats the basics of what I believe.
